Missions take too long to load. How to fix it?
For some players, the problem may occur when the mission takes 2-3 minutes to load. This usually only takes 3 seconds. There is a solution.

G-sync compatible monitors with the nvidia setting to "enable G-sync, G-sync compatible" turned on seem to have been the cause, after I turned it off the game runs great again at least.
What version of the game should I play? (Server, Local & Offline mods)
Short answer
We recommend to start playing with "Server + Local" mode. It gives the best game experience with no limits. You can play co-op with other players and you can participate in leaderboards.

You need to do nothing. It's default mode. Just start the game.
If you have have no game crashes, internet problems, delays in the game, then contunie playing the game - it will work fine for you.

If you have problems, then read section below.

Full Info
There are 3 main ways to play Warstone:
1a) Server
1b) Local
2) Offline

Server
Originally, Warstone TD used a dedicated server. It means, players always should be online to be able to play the game. It sometimes can lead to problems for players, like lags and drops for some users. Especially if players are located far from Europe.

Local
To reduce amount of problems we made "Local" mode. When player starts a battle, it launches a local server for the player. The battle runs on your PC, so there couldn't be any internet problems. After a player finishes a battle, it connects to the main server. This is the best way to play the game, especially if you are far from Europe (like USA or China).

But, there could be technical problems with "Local" mode. You can read below how to solve most frequent problems.

Offline
If for some reason, "Local" option doesn't work for you, we recommend to use Offline version of the game. It starts whole game on your own PC. It is like you would play alone on the server. It doesn't require internet connection. On other hand, you can play co-op missions in solo only and you couldn't participate in leaderboards with other users. You still can play whole missions and get Steam Achievements.

Save Files
Server and Offline versions use different save files.
a) Server version keeps save file on the server. You can run the game from your Steam account on any pc and it will download automatically.
b) Offline version uses local save file. If you want to use it on other PC, you should move it by hand.

How to make Local mode work
We repeat that Local mode is the best way to play the game. It starts an another exe file, so some programs can identify it as a virus. Do next:
  1. Check that Socket.dll file is located in the warstone_data folder.
    • Find the game in your Steam library.
    • Click on it with right button.
    • Choose "Local files" section.
    • Click on "Browse" button.
    • Go to warstone_data folder.
    • Socket.dll file should be in the end of the list.
  2. If there is no socket.dll file then your software deleted it. You need to get it back.
    • Find the game in your Steam library.
    • Click on it with right button.
    • Choose "Local files" section.
    • Click on "Verify integrity of game files" button.
  3. Add Socket.dll to exceptions of your software. There should be a safe list in your Anti-virus program. Find it and add Socket.dll to this list. Also, you need to do the same with Windows Firewall.
  4. Launch the game and be sure that there is no yellow warning about missing Socket.dll file.
  5. Go the town and start aby battle. There should be a system info in the left bottom corner. If you see there Local, it means you play with Local option. Enjoy.
Frequently asked questions
Can't start the game. It crashes on launch.
Mostly it happens when players have Citrix programmed installed.
Try to update Citrix program to the last version. Disabling the program can help in some cases.
Also, RivaTuner Statistics Server can occur same problem.

How can I start the game from the beginning?
In the city there is a small stone rune near the old mage. Click on it.

Where is my save file?
If you play Online/Local mode then it is on our server. Just start the game on any PC using your Steam account. If you play with Offline mode, then go to game folder. You save file will be in sav folder. It will be named as save001.txt. You can move and replace your save files. There is also a Steam Cloud feature. If you delete or get you save file lost, it will download the latest version from Steam Cloud.

My hotkeys are broken. How can i fix them?
Go to wartone_date folder. Find options.txt file and just delete it. The game will create new one upon game launch. It will have proper hotkeys settings.

What is auto-city mode?
It is an option in the game which automatically complete all available quests for you. It construct buildings, research upgrades, buy items, read dialogues. The only thing you need to do is to watch comics. This option was made for people, who just want play pure TD game.

Be aware, that you do not see reward window for quests and battles when Auto-city option is on.

How can I get more mithril?
1) Some story missions and quests give it.
2) Totem buildings give 5 mithril from time to time (depends on actively you play battles). Totem II gives 15 mithril (available in Astral Voyage DLC).
3) Passing all co-op missions (even in solo) at first time reward you with mithril.
4) All challenge and survival mods reward with a lot of mithril.
5) Some star achievements give mithril.
6) Finally, you can trade your resources to mithril using caravan building. It is open after a player passes Two Mountains mission.

How armor and damage types work?
There are 4 armor types: Unarmored, Light, Medium, Heavy.
There are 4 physical attack types: Normal (Melee units), Piercing (Archer units), Gunshot (Dwarfs) and Astral (Elementals).
Each attack type does extra (+50%) damage to one armor type and reduced to another. Other armor types receive default damage.

Normal deals 150% damage to Medium and 75% to Light.
Piercing deals 150% damage to Light and 75% to Heavy.
Gunshot deals 150% damage to Unarmored and 75% to Medium.
Astral deals 150% damage to Heavy and 75% to Unarmored.

All units have armor value. It reduced incoming damage by 1 for each 1 armor unit has.

So, if Rifleman with 9-13 (gunshot) damage attacks Troll Warrior with 6 armor (medium)
it will deal only (9-13) * 75% - 6 = 1-4. It means, Rifleman is almost useless against Troll Warriors.

There is another damage type. It is spell damage. Novice units and its upgrades use it.
Spell damage ignores all armor values and deals 100% damage to all armor types. It is reduced by magical resistance only.
Hidden features
  • Player focus all towers to attack certain enemy with double left click or one time right click.
  • There is the hidden hell+ difficulty. If you start an any mission on Hell difficulty, you can write hell+ xxx in the chat to increase all enemy health to xxx%. For example if you write hell+ 1000, all enemy health will be increased to 10000% and usual boar will have 1500 HP instead of 15 HP.
  • Player can replay any single and co-op mission for an extra repetitive reward. There is a list of rewards in the end of the guide.
  • There is a secret level in the game. It uses a first map we created for the game and enemies with old models. You can find a way to start in the Page 8 of Artbook.

Co-op missions give their rewards with each completion with an exception of mithril. Almost each co-op mission have mithril reward, but players get it only at first completion. These rewards are not hidden, they are shown in the arena window. Co-op missions have higher rewards, since they are tougher for completion and requires more actions from both players or a lot of actions from 1 player in solo co-op game.

YS46159390, when you press a button to start a wave earlier, you get gold. You need to earn 30 gold this way.

Hi, I have played the game for hours recently, but I don't understand the meaning of a achievement of the second mode of the Searches. It say"Earn 30 gold from starting waves early", but when I killed the monsters from the first wave , I didn't acquire any gold. Can you explain how to get gold from starting waves early, please? I want to have the achievement indeed!:br_cry:

You can change this option only before pressing Start game button.
Close the game, open again. Press this button. It should work.

How do we start offline mode? The current version of this guide says we can run offline mode but doesn't say how.

When I open the game and click "offline mode" on the main menu, a new instance of floating text that says "unavailable" appears for each click.

See this screenshot for an example of what I mean:
