British Rail Class 142

In the 1980s, BR were looking for some quick, easy and cheap replacements for their aging first gen DMUs. Along came Leyland, with a modified Leyland National bus body, slapped on a wagon chassis with an engine strapped to it... and well, it worked. The original design was shortly modified, with the original Leyland TL11 engines and hydrocyclic transmission being replaced with a Cummins LTA10 and Voith Hydraulic system.

The ridicule of these trains is wholly undeserved, they proved to be one of the most successful and reliable units to have ever graced the railways of the UK, and to call them "bad" is objectively wrong. Many survive in preservation today, after a long 35 year service life, much longer than was intended.

This mod includes:
- Six class 142s with bus bench seating:
= 142001 in 1985 as-built condition (GMPTE)
= 142023 in 1991 condition (Regional Railways)
= 142038 in 1999 condition (First North Western Trains)
= 142048 in 1987 condition (Provincial)
= 142065 in 2006 condition (Serco-Abellio Northern Rail)
= 142516 in 1989 condition (Western Region Skipper)
- Leyland TL11 sounds by Mezzie
- Asset versions

Major update 07/03/2024, a whole two years after uploading:
- Rescaled to correct size (downscaled by 3.5%)
- Added modern door versions and other modern modular parts
- Added four liveries (three courtesy of HexAyed)
- Updated material maps to bring them "up to standard"
