Understanding the basics.
1. Hell's horde is relentless so if you are gonna fight them you are gonna need more than just your handy fists for the job. Understanding how the weapons work will increase your chances or survival and also knowing when to use the right tool for the job might help you.

2. Understanding the weapons.

1. fists: They will get the job done on weaker enemies like a single grunt and in come cases pinky demons so long as you can keep just that little distance so to not get hit by their bite animation. Imps can be killed too with the fist but you wanna be a little more careful around those, they are known to scratch unfortunate slayers and even kill those with low HP. The fists will come in handy especially if you find the fist power up, it is a black box with a green health sign on it you can't miss it if you find it. This will make your fists far more deadly on demons, combined with the invincibility power up and you are unstoppable.

2. Pistol: Slow fire rate but reliable enough. The pistol will come in handy against most weaker enemies like grunts, imps and so forth.

3: Shotgun: An extremely powerful weapon you wanna keep close to you, you also wanna conserve ammo for it in situations with larger enemies such as the Cacodemons and Shotgun grunts.

4: RPG: The most useful weapon in the game but ammo will be hard to come across in some episodes unless you know where to look for it. The RPG is best on the largest enemy types such as the Baron Of Hell and some Boss enemies.

5: Plasma Rifle: Extremely deadly, useful but hard to come across and find ammo for sometimes. You want this one especially for the episode 2 encounter with the Cyberdemon as it can kill it with a magazine of only 300 plasma rounds. In episode 2 I always have full plasma rifle ammo and have a maximum of 600 rounds for it always but only use half to defeat it so it is useful against most boss fights including the Spider Mastermind.

6: Chainsaw: Useful against singular enemies you don't wanna use it in situation where large enemies are all around you but it can stun cacodemons making them unable to attack you. The chainsaw also works really well on Pinky demons but they can still bite you if you are unlucky to get hit by their bite animation.

7: BFG: You know what to use that gun for I don't even need to explain it :) It is a big ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gun! you won't be in doubt when to use that one.
How I recommend playing DOOM for a fun and fair experience.
I feel pretty comfortable on Ultra Violence in regular in the Ultimate DOOM it has been my go to difficulty for some time now as enemies will be more plentiful, the hit harder but it is all in all a pretty fair and balanced experience.
DOOM episode list explained.
I would rank The Ultimate DOOM's episode list in the following category and this is on Ultra Violence I review them.

Knee Deep In The Dead: A pretty easy episode all around and the one that has the most simple and iconic levels known in the DOOM franchise. Even on Ultra Violence this episode won't really be that hard for people to get through if you understand the basics.

The Shores Of Hell: Medium experience even On Ultra Violence, you will have a higher chance of dying as enemies are larger now and Cacodemons and Barons of hell are starting to show up but if you save up at least 20 rockets during the first few levels and hunt for secrets it is doable. You also wanna hunt more for secrets here as the Cyberdemon boss fight can be won with just 300 plasma rounds you don't need full plasma ammo like I have but it will make the fight easier.

Inferno: Hard experience, this is where it really pays to hunt for secrets and remember to conserve your ammo at least for the first few chapters. You wanna use your fist in situations you can and also wanna conserve your shotgun ammo, rocket ammo and hunt for Plasma rounds again. Inferno is harder because of the often tight spaces, large enemies in those tight spaces and often very little ammo is found in some of the levels so this is where it pays to be cautious. Inferno is the best episode in terms of difficulty and Ultra Violence is a must play on if you play Inferno.

Thy Flesh Consumed: Nightmare experience, this chapter is really hard on Ultra violence but I seriously recommend you give it a go it is super fun despite it being very punishing. I managed to do a Ultra Violence run and it was difficult due to how little ammo I often had. I am still trying to work on this episode and hope to do better runs in the future but it is doable if you conserve ammo.
