Beskrivelse
We can craft complex armours and weapons, but not backpacks?
Now you can turn your leather into backpacks, animal packs, quivers, and more!

🎨 Visual Update 🎨
All crafting stations and storage containers now show unique backpack models so you can identify them at a glance.

🏹 Backpacks & Quivers 🏹
• Animal Backpacks: Dog, Goat, Padded Bull, Padded Garru, Crab
• Quivers: Thieves, Wandering Archer’s Heavies, Leather, Mesh, Metal, Normal, Wooden
• Wanderer Backpacks: Engineer, Nomad, Scavenger, Smuggler, Thieves, Trader
• Stat Tweaks: Wooden Trader’s Backpack now reduces weight by 60%.
• Backpack Storage: Not fully implemented by the game engine, but the Backpack Locker has a unique look even though it technically accepts any item.

🎒 Backpack Crafting 🎒
• Unlocked through research tiers:
– Basic: Tech 1 (1 Book)
– Intermediate: Tech 2 (3 Books)
– Advanced: Tech 3 (5 Books)
• All backpacks are craftable, including shopkeeper-only and trader-only variants.

👜 Leather Strips 👜
• A new component used to simulate backpack production time.
• Since backpack crafting is instant in Kenshi’s code, the time investment is shifted into crafting Leather Strips instead.

🗝️ Unlocks 🗝️
Backpacks become available through either research or blueprints.
• Research → Found under Crafting: Backpacks.
• Blueprints → Sold at vendors that logically carry them.

🛒 Availability 🛒
• Backpacks and blueprints are sold at their respective vendors: Adventure shops, Shinobi Guild, Animal traders, Crab Raiders, Crossbow stores.

🛠️ Crafting Redux Collection 🛠️
This mod is part of my Crafting Redux series — a full overhaul of Kenshi’s crafting systems across armor, weapons, backpacks, and robotics.
The goal is simple: keep crafting modular, organized, intuitive, and fully compatible with Kenshi’s world.

🚩 Compatibility 🚩
• All backpacks and quivers are new items, so they remain compatible with the original mods by Zheyron and Elwo.
• Vanilla edits: Trader’s Wooden Backpack & vendor list updates.
– If other mods edit the Wooden Backpack, load this one after it to retain my changes.
• Vendors may need to refresh stock if not importing.

⚖️ Item Stats ⚖️
*Animal Packs*
• Dog Backpack: Similar to the Medium Backpack in stats, but with an added 4x bonus stack size.
• Dog and Goat Thieves Backpacks: No stat penalties, small inventory, no bonus stack size.
• Padded Bull and Garru Backpacks: Similar to the regular versions, but the Padded has has two fewer stack size and no combat penalties.
• Crab Backpack: Similar to the Padded Bull Backpack, but slightly smaller inventory. Same stack size, no combat penalties.

*Quivers*
• Quiver and Thieves Quiver: 2x6 inventory, large stack size, reduces weight by 80%, Thieves version has no penalties to stealth.
• Wandering Archer's Quivers: Most variations have an inventory size designed to hold their respective bolt types and have 90% reduced weight with no stat penalties.
• Wandering Archer's Metal Quiver: 3x5 inventory, 40% penalty to stealth and dodge.

*Wanderer Series*
• Wandering Engineer's Backpack: Huge combat penalties, very little weight reduction, but lots of storage space and stack size. Also good for strength training!
• Wandering Nomad's Backpack: Stealth and dodge reduced by 50%, but no combat penalties. Has a x4 stack size and plenty of space.
• Wandering Scavenger's Backpack: Comparable to the Small Thieves Backpack, but with better weight reduction and 15% stealth and dodge penalties. Can be used by low strength characters easily.
• Wandering Smuggler's Bag: Huge stack size and a 2x3 inventory, this bag was meant for stacking Hashish! Also slightly boosts stealth and dodge.
• Wandering Thieves Backpack: Comparable to the regular Thieves Backpack, but with no combat penalties, a x2 stack size, and a slightly smaller overall space.
• Wandering Trader's Backpack: Comparable to the Wooden Backpack, but with less combat and stealth penalties and a slightly larger inventory.

💭 My Thoughts 💭
Many mods allow backpack crafting, but I wanted more than just crafting, so that's why this version is packed with new, varied backpacks and quivers!

I couldn't find any settings related to the "food in backpacks" feature so I think it's one of those hard-coded things, sorry!

@JKNOX23 I'll try to look through the FCS and see if I missed any settings, but I'm pretty sure I duplicated previous backpack entries and then edited them to make the new ones, so the settings should have carried over. But it might be one of those Kenshi script things that we cannot edit in the FCS. I'll post an update when I learn more.

Does anybody else noticed that the feature "take food from backpack" doesn't work? I've been playing for a while and I thought my squads were being stupid but nope, I had to give my food to a pawn that has a thieves backpack so the feature works. This happens with all the modded backpacks I have installed, is it me or is this something that is hardcoded or something like that? Thank you in advance!

Thanks for mod! I made a few submods for it:
IWK+ Backpack Crafting Enhanced - integrate Backpack Crafting Enhanced into IWK+
Cross-mod Backpack Integration - balance and research tree rebalance for integration

I absolutely agree! So many incredible modders and the awesome developers that let us poke away at their game <3

Man, this is part of why I love Kenshi so much.

The game offers so much, that what isn't there, or what doesn't work properly in vanilla sticks out, so seeing creative and talented modders and programmers coming forth to bring their ideas forward, the accessibility of it, and how well they can fit into the base game and feel like natural additions is just fantastic.

@CENKER THE FATHER If there's enough support for it, then yes, I'll stop being lazy and make a no penalty version. Otherwise, you're free to dive into the FCS! It's not that hard to use and you're welcome to edit my mods to your heart's content <3

can we have a no penalty version of this?

@Lord Dickinson McCheddar There is a bug in vanilla Kenshi where stores don't restock properly. I've had it happen to me several times, usually at Waystations for some reason. An import does fix this bug.
Otherwise, the blueprint is set to spawn at a 300% rate at Shinobi traders, so it should show up quite frequently (despite it seeming like it would guarantee show up, there's an item limit, so even though it has a high chance of spawning, it still might get cut off by the item limit).
Lord Dickinson McCheddar 28. jan. kl. 8:42
I bought and then sold back the blueprint for the thieves backpacks. Now it's not showing from what I can tell. Is this a bug or is it just a rare spawn?
