Oh man, this game was a fucking trip. For those unaware, Pug Mode is basically the YOLO version of doing a stage on the hardest possible difficulty (in which there are 28 total, this is just the final one).

Now to summarize my thoughts on this game:
• This game aged very poorly, especially with recent events surrounding Cryaotic.
• Some of the other stages in the game were fairly insufferable to play given how much I died near the end of a stage (though I do tend to get the short end of the stick often).
• This game offers a co-op mode, but I can only see probably one stage where it proves to be actually useful, otherwise you might as well do it solo.

Now for the Barrel King. We can split this into 6 different phases:

0:00 - Phase 0
The introductory phase, which shows the mechanic behind defeating the boss. Normally, you need to stomp on a certain number of barrel minions (which keeps increasing until phase 5) which will reveal a green trampoline which you can use to stomp on the big boy. However, what the devs oversaw is that this can quite easily be cheesed by just waiting for the right moment when a minion jumps, which you can then use to gain a fair bit of extra height and start the fight early. You can also set up a consistent cycle depending on when you cheese the trampoline, which can prove useful.

0:18 - Phase 1
It's showtime. The King acts like a normal barrel but bigger, with giant jumps and decent airtime which allows you ample time to dodge its stomping attack. After the King is attacked, it's time for the first transition. The King will send out a bunch of laser orbs, and now it's just a game of dodging the lasers. However, because of the tiny hitbox you have in Pug Mode, half the lasers can be passed by doing absolutely nothing.

1:30 - Phase 2
The Barrel King now has the ability to jump higher, stay in the air longer, and deal shockwaves which will kill you if you don't avoid them. This is cheesed pretty quickly because of how I set up the cycle. After stomping the King again, he will then send out a flurry of flames, most of which will drop on your location. It's easier if you take your time and go slow instead of running all over the place.

2:10 - Phase 3
Since phase 2 was cheesed, we gotta wait until phase 4 to pull off that same technique again, so it's time to do things the normal way. Not difficult if you kill as many minions ASAP. The transition phase for this is difficult though. Not only do you have to dodge the rotating 4-way laser, but the King will also continually dispense chaser orbs which will target your location and dash over to where you're at. You can either kill them all or skillfully dodge them, but remember to also manage avoiding the laser and keep going in circles.

3:40 - Phase 4
Same deal as before, but cheesed due to the cycle set up from the start. After stomping the King again, it's straight to phase 5.

3:48 - Phase 5
The final phase. Everything you were doing before is now forfeit. The Barrel King will now stomp its way over to the side and dispense a slurry of bouncing barrels at you. Every time you stomp on the King, it will move to the other side, dispense less barrels, and the barrels will move faster. This one is more RNG dependent, so GLHF.

Well, that's a wrap for this game. It was a mixture of fun and frustration, but I'm glad to not have to play this again. My next goal is doing the Zet achievement in THOTH, so look out for that when it comes around. Until then.
