Thought i would write a quick guide on how to get the game to work, so that you don't have to read all the ♥♥♥♥ in discussions and forums just to get a simple fix.

Fix

Download the "Blurry Texture Fix - 36kb" from here [hawkdawg.com]. It is near the bottom under "Other Unofficial Patches"
Extract the file and throw the d3d8.dll into the root folder with the ShatteredUnion.exe.
(C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Shattered Union)
Change the ShatteredUnion.exe compatibility mode to windows 7

If you did this and the game still won't run, then I guess you're on your own chief.

The d3d8.dll and Steam.dll works for me until I try to play the first combat of the campaign. Crash and some times give me a error of memory. I can play skirmishes but not the campaign.

This works, I'm guessing it's replacing the d3d DLL from RCT3 which contains a fix that is common to old titles.

Works like a champ... Thanks mate! FYI I'm using windows 11 and did the maximum memory increase before pulling in the d3d8.dll file.

So any thought to why it boots it me out after I go to battle? I used the link above to get the screen thing to work? Any ideas?

In your Start Menu search field, type in msconfig
Click on the boot tab
Click on the Advance Options button
Check the little box next to Maximum memory and set the max to 2048
Restart your computer
Start the game and Voila! It works! ^_^
