How to quick install Pre-Slayer Gauntlet

Introduction:
This guide will walk you through the process of installing an older version of Gauntlet, known as Pre-Slayer.
This version of the game has some features that are different from the current Slayer Edition, so if you're interested in exploring these differences, this guide is for you.

Preparing for installation:
Before you begin, it's important to back up your save files and disable Steam cloud.
This will ensure that your Slayer Edition save files don't mix with your Pre-Slayer save files. You can find your save files at C:\Users\MYNAMEHERE\AppData\Roaming\Arrowhead\Gauntlet.

Downloading the game files:
To download the Pre-Slayer version of Gauntlet, follow this link: https://mega.nz/file/hn8BgBwa#eeE_KYvgMzsYFLMqztcH5ZWpuZOSQ1UUKwEHhwfAmRQ
Save the files to a convenient location on your computer.

Installing the game:
Navigate to the Gauntlet folder location on your computer: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common.
Create a new folder called "Gauntlet C" in this location.
Copy the binaries and content from the downloaded file into the new "Gauntlet C" folder.
To play the Pre-Slayer version of Gauntlet, rename the "Gauntlet" folder to "Gauntlet S" and the "Gauntlet C" folder to "Gauntlet."
To switch back to the Slayer Edition, rename the "Gauntlet" folder to "Gauntlet C" and the "Gauntlet S" folder to "Gauntlet."

The first time you will run the Pre-slayer version the game will crash, to avoid this restart the game before entering the hub.
Colosseum and Capes are not working at this time but i will update as soon there is a fix.

Enjoy Heroes!

More answers in my guide linked below ;). But also e.g. skull coins didn’t just go up with kills. You had to start them with a combo (5 kills in 1s) and then keep the combo going for it to work - which made for some beautiful clutches when 3 players were down and you were the only one still alive. Despite weapon sets being only cosmetic and only the base weapons being available, they worked a bit differently. The "kill # of <monster>" achievements made sense because they lowered amount of hits needed to kill that particular enemy on a particular difficulty (34-49 dmg vs 100hp enemy is 3 hits, when at 49 that 1 dmg point makes a difference). Heavy attacks mostly killed enemies (in Slayer, Valkyrie - who is as strong or stronger than Thor - cannot one-hit skeletons - weakest non-1-hp monsters in the game - with some of her weapon sets). Relics have also been reworked - some for better, some for worse; the choice used to be the same for everyone.

Lot of chances, more hard, masteries that gave you more stats but no endless mode.

just asking, why would someone go back to pre-slayer ? what does it change ?

Remember to NOT mix savefiles after you go back to classic. You can do it once - split the current Slayer Edition savegame into itself and the classic edition. Afterwards it's technically against ToS.

See also my older and less updated guide with the previous mode of obtaining the Classic version .
