Officer/Garrison/Outpost Guide

Outpost (OP)
  1. Take out your stopwatch
  2. Select the Outpost from the drop-down menu
  3. Build it
  • There's a 3-minute cooldown period between building outposts. If you walk up to an outpost you've already built and manually
  • deconstruct it, the timer will be reset and you can rebuild one immediately. If your outpost is destroyed by an enemy, then the timer will not be reset.
  • Building the outpost requires flat terrain with no obstacles. If this is a problem, you will see an error message explaining what the problem is.
  • Only Recon units may build an outpost on locked enemy territory.
  • If an outpost is in a sector that is taken by the enemy, then it will be destroyed. Outposts of Recon units are the only exception to this.
  • A maximum of one 1 outpost per unit can exist at any time. Building a new outpost will cause the old one to deconstruct.
  • A white model of the outpost means it can't be built, either due to terrain or cooldown reasons.
  • A green model of the outpost means that it can be built here.
  • Outposts don't cost any supplies to build, but they only allow your squad to spawn at them.
  • Enemy Outposts can be destroyed simply by walking within 5m of them. Grenades and explosives do not affect Outposts.

Garrison
All members of a team can spawn at a Garrison. There is a team-wide limit of 8 garrisons. They require 50 supplies nearby to be built in friendly territory and 100 supplies in enemy territory.
  1. Take out your stopwatch
  2. Select the Garrison from the menu with the scroll wheel
  3. Build it
  • You need 50 supplies to be within 50m of where you're placing the Garrison.
  • The Garrison has terrain restrictions similar to outposts, but must additionally be at least 200m away from the nearest friendly garrison.
  • If you can't build a Garrison in this location, there will be an error message in the middle of the screen.
  • You must be within 50m of supplies and further than 200m from another Garrison to build a Garrison. Garrisons can not be placed by Officers in enemy territory.
  • Enemy Garrisons can be destroyed by walking up to them and holding the 'F' key to dismantle them. They can also be destroyed by explosives such as tank shells or grenades. Garrisons in locked territories (indicated by the lock symbol on the capture point) cannot be destroyed; however, they can be temporarily disabled if an enemy is standing close enough to one. Enemies will not be able to spawn on their Garrison in a locked territory so long as a friendly remains within close proximity.

Officer tips
  • A good Officer communicates and listens attentively. His highest priority is establishing Garrisons as a fall-back and then deploying Outposts in order to maintain his unit’s momentum in the field. To do this, he needs to keep his unit alive and position them to best engage the enemy. He is positive and encouraging in the face of adversity and follows the orders of the Commander.
  • It is your job to co-ordinate your squad and try to keep them on task. Try to maintain some level of unit cohesion by keeping your members all in the same general area, unless there's good reason to send some people out.
  • Also try to ask for volunteers in the squad to swap to a Support unit so they can drop supplies, and an Engineer so they can set mines and build resource nodes or other constructions with the leftover 50 supplies you'll have after you get your Garrison up.

There are a few things in here that are not accurate. Outposts can in fact be destroyed by grenades and/or tank shells. Garrisons cannot be destroyed by grenades. Garrisons can also be placed in enemy territory, just not in locked territory.

Great guide. This is probably the most important part of the game that gets ignored by a lot of commanders and squadleaders in a lot of matches for some reason. It's even important to make the game more fun so people don't have to wait as long to get back into action, and don't have to walk for miles before finding combat areas
