Hello!

Welcome to my guide for The Sims 3 and how to enhance the vanilla game-play experience so a Vanilla+ styled game-play. Every mod that I have listed are the mods I personally use to make my game have much more game-play that fits in with the vanilla game.

Each Section will be categorised from the base game and other expansion packs so its easy to know which mods are from certain packs or base game! Some mods may require multiple packs however.

This guide is intended to be used with game version 1.67 and 1.69 (EA App), the mods in this guide were not made to be used with the game version 1.70 (64 bit Mac Update) . Use at your own risk if using game version 1.70.

It is recommended to own all packs since some mods require users to have certain packs installed for certain mods to function correctly, some mods will still function if a pack is missing but most or all mods will either not function or crash your game.

If the prices for the packs are too high for such an old game (which honestly they are...) you can find them all at a discount on the steam bundle page that is hidden from The Sims 3 store page for some reason.

Its 65% off for all packs and even cheaper on big Steam sales usually up to 80% off for all packs.

For new users to The Sims 3 Modding this will show you how to install the Mods Folder into your game so your game will be able to read and use ".Package" file mods.
　
Step 1 - Download the mods folder using the download button from ModTheSims HERE![modthesims.info]
　
Once on the download page scroll down a little until you see a "Download" button, once found click on this link and it will download the file.

After the download is complete place the file somewhere easy to find like the desktop.
　
Step 2 - Once downloaded go to...
　
"Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3"
　
Once there, open up the downloaded mods folder file and extract its contents right into The Sims 3 documents folder.
　
Step 4 - Just to make sure open up the mods folder and make sure the contents inside looks like this image below!
Files that should be present and that are needed are...

• Resource.cfg File
  
• Packages Folder
  
• Overrides Folder

　
The two package files that come inside the packages folder called...

• NoBuildSparkles.package
  
• nointro.package

these files are for testing purposes only and can be safely deleted after launching the game to see if the mods folder is functioning correctly.

If the maxis logo is still showing up on startup even with the "nointro.package" present in the mods folder for testing this is normal since the "nointro.package" was made before that intro screen was added in a later patch and uses a different file path to the other intro videos.

　
　
If you want to keep "nointro.package" to disable the intros and want the Maxis Logo Intro gone as well, you can download a mod for it HERE[modthesims.info] to be used along side "nointro.package".
　

　　　　　　　　　　　　　　
There are two different folders present inside the mods folder for different types of mods...
Mods with the "🟩" icon go into the "Packages" Folder.

Mods with the "🟥" icon go into the "Overrides" Folder.

Mono Patcher is a library that allows Script Modders to replace Sims 3 methods with as much compatibility as possible - No need to create core mods anymore to replace game functions.
　
Step 1: Download Mono Patcher Library from...

Step 2: Once downloaded go to your games mods folder located at...
　
"Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3"
　
Once inside the Mods folder open up the "Packages" folder and create a new folder.
　
After creating the new folder place the "ld_MonoPatcher.package" file inside the newly created folder.
　
Step 3: Once that is done you will need to go to the games "Bin" Folder in the games install directory, it can be found at...
　
Steam 1.67 - "Steam\steamapps\common\The Sims 3\Game\Bin"
　　
EA App 1.69 - "EA Games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin"
　
Once there place the files "wininet.dll" and "MonoPatcher.asi" into the "Bin" folder in the games directory. Overwrite files if necessary.
　
Step 4: Mono Patcher Library is now installed.

• 🟩 Nraas Saver[www.nraas.net] - Has an option to set an in game time to have the game auto save or even in real time how often say every 20 to 30 minutes. You can even set it to pause the game on load so its guaranteed to be paused if you walk away while you wait for your save game to load.

• 🟩 Search Pie Menu[modthesims.info] - Adds a search function to the Pie Menu in game easy for finding interactions easier. (Requires Monopatcher!) TinyUI users will need to rerun TinyUI.
  
  
• 🟩 Change the main loading splash screen 2 flavours! (ONLY CHOOSE ONE AT A TIME!)

• 🟩 World Loading Screen Overhaul[modthesims.info] - Makes it so that all worlds (EA WORLDS) have their own unique loading screens not the vanilla sunset valley one. This mod has no game play fixes or changes but makes the loading screens more unique from one another so purely cosmetic also no performance loss when in use.

• 🟩 Main menu background overhaul[modthesims.info] - Randomises the background image on the main menu. The image also syncs to the time of day (night or day time image)
  
  
• 🟩 Bulldozer in Build&Buy Modes[modthesims.info] - Adds in a new feature of bulldozing the active lot from in game rather than needing to enter edit town mode. Similar to the feature in The Sims 4.
  
  
• 🟩 better ingredient thumbnails[tasteslikefridge.tumblr.com] - Makes ingredient thumbnails in the user interface more legible and easy to see.

• 🟩 No Stretch' Children can Series[modthesims.info] - Allows children to do some object interactions that they previously could not do IE play guitar, do laundry ect with animations that do not stretch. (Some downloads of this mod require EP's but mostly are Base Game)
  
  
  
• 🟩 Subtle Build Grid Active Level Only[modthesims.info] - Makes the build and buy grids more easy on the eyes and boost some fps on larger lots with lots of stories and basements.
  
  
  
• 🟩 No Fridge Shopping[www.nraas.net] - Stops sims being able to buy food from the fridge when there is no stock left sims will now have to go to the grocery store and buy ingredients or grow them in their garden.

• 🟩 More intense fire[modthesims.info] - makes fire more scary and deadly. I personally use the "Slightly more intense fire with a limit of 10 fires" makes it like vanilla fire just spreads a little quicker and further.
  
  
• 🟩 More Frequent Burglars[modthesims.info] - Makes the burglar visit chance higher the default only being 0.25% chance of visiting. I personally use the 10% chance you can pick higher if you want to however.
  
  
• 🟩 Dangerous Stoves Mod[modthesims.info] - Makes it so the chance of starting a fire with an oven is higher. I personally use the default version called "DangerousStoves.rar" were its only a little more dangerous but if you want oven fires way more common download any other file from the mod page.
  
  
• 🟩 Toddlers can Ask for Things[modthesims.info] - allows toddler to ask sims autonomously for food, change diaper or attention.

• 🟥 Maternity Defaults[oneeuromutt.tumblr.com] - Makes it so any Expansion and stuff pack of your choice has the clothing made to fit pregnant sims, choose accordingly to what packs you have installed.

• 🟥 Baby & Toddler Changing Overhaul[modthesims.info] - Overhauls the Dirty No More Changing and Bathing Station[store.thesims3.com] so sims will no longer put toddlers down onto the floor after each interaction and sims will now need to purchase diapers from the Grocery Store.

A: Removing scripting mods from your game after the save is created will lead to the save files that relied on those removed mods to not function correctly or lead to save file corruption. This guide should be used with a fresh new save.

A: Most likely Nraas Story Progression since it pushes all sims in town to do more activities, marry, flirt, have babies, become friends, get jobs ect more so than the vanilla story progression which just gives sims nudges to progress here and there. Performance can also usually depend on your PC setup.

A: The mods are still 100% fine to keep using in your game! I have removed them since I no longer use them in my game or the current save I am playing.

A: If you are using Tiny UI Fix[modthesims.info] make sure to re-run the program so it includes the new UI changes also make sure to clean the game cache just in case.
