The truth
I actually lied. You will not need some of those brain[i.imgur.com] cells you still have early in the game and the basics as a couple of things need to be unlocked first. Those two things are:
Switch Skills
The first is Adamant Charged Slash
It is unlocked by forging or upgrading 8 Weapons within the same Weapon category. Easy enough.

The second is Rage Slash
This skill is awarded for completing 5★ Hub Quest Grasp the Great Sword. Instead of rushing Hub Quests consider taking on easier Village Quests. They will unlock a number of other things and after a while three Special License Tests will pop-up. Beating them unlocks 2★, 3★ and 4★ Hub Quests.

The thing with those skills is that they provide Hyper Armor while active just like your trusty Tackle so no knockback and you receive less damage. Also, Rage Slash can hit in any direction so positioning should be easier. And with this you are finally ready to:
Turn off your brain
But don't forget to equip them first. When you are ready go find some monsters, get to a comfortable distance and follow those four easy steps of success:
The image depicts your brain cells leaving your brain

  • 1. Use Power Sheathe Silkbind Attack.
  • 2. Use Adamant Charged Slash Silkbind Attack.
  • 3. After Adamant Charged Slash instantly initiate Rage Slash.
  • 4. Repeat.

Oh, and you still receive some damage so don't forget about your Health. You can actually employ some "advanced" tactics like
  • Jumping off your Palamute into Arial Unsheathe for the Power Sheathe.
  • Guarding instead of normal stop and Unsheathe or Overhead Slash Unsheathe.
  • You also can Power Sheathe after Rage Slash if you didn't know that already.

  • In case you find yourself waiting for the wirebugs to recover just hop onto your Palamute and do the usual Jumping Charged SlashStrong Wide SlashRage Slash "combo".
  • Or actually learning how to play, switching back to TCS(20%-40% more damage(i dont know if this actually scales im still not in the endgame)), leaving your buddies behind. never playing in multiplayer and ripping through every monster that still dares to live on this planet earth or whatever.

And we arrive to a
Conclusion
Yeah, I know there are probably better and more efficient ways, but in the end this strategy provides decent enough DPS and is consistent so this should be fine.

@Gumble Friendly reminder that you came to a guide to say that people can play however they want but they came here to learn how to play more efficiently.

Think on that for a minute.

Friendly reminder that you can literally play this game however you want and shouldn't feel bad for liking a certain play style because people tell you it's cringe. :er_heart:

The high skill cap is due to being SLOW and leaving YOU wide open every time you dare attempt an attack, anyone who's actually played the GS will know why it can be such a painful weapon to use.

This guide has no concept on what it means to play with no brain cells and do fine. Just focus on finding opening for true charge, and only use the other charges from either the wire bug jump or when a monster and stunned or knocked down, you'll do fine.
