All the achievements
Easy - Little to no effort to get the achievements, just play the game

Killer - kill 500 soldiers
Butcher - kill 1000 soldiers

KILL! KILL! KILL! (it doesn't matter how)

Grenade - Throw 100 grenades (2nd weapon)
Boom - Throw 500 grenades (2nd weapon)

Just use your secondary weapon. Some characters have grenades, others have missiles, and some even throw boomerangs, arrows (!?) and gas...

Big One - Reach a score of 5 000 000

It doesn't matter if you die. As long as you keep using continues, your score keeps adding up.

Lonly Wolf - Complete the game in "Lonly Wolf"
Team Battle - Complete the game in "Team Battle"

You can select "Lonly Wolf" and "Team Battle" after every continue that you get. But I am not sure if you can simply change the game mode at the last battle and still get the achievements. I played from beginning to end the same mode. So I finished the game once exclusively selecting "Lonly Wolf" and another exclusively selecting "Team Battle". Since you'll need to complete the game twice to get both achievements, I suggest you do the same.

I considered them easy as you have infinite continues to spend.

Medium - You actually have to try

Immortal - Complete a stage without dying ( "Lonly Wolf" )

The easiest level seems to be the first level on the default path. Just remember that Milky and Marie Bee are faster characters but have less health, so this achievement might be easier with other characters.

Call a friend - Complete the game in multiplayer (local or online)

The easiest way is to join with the second player locally and play by yourself... (insert FOREVER ALONE meme here). You do not have to play the entire game controlling two players. I started the game with two players on the first stage. Let player 2 die. Brought him back to life at the last boss. I was still controlling just one player, the second one was just sitting there doing nothing and getting hit by the boss.

Cook - Complete a stage with full life

There are three ways of achieving this:

- You're an awesome player and don't get hit throughout the stage! Congrats!
- Bosses have an impressive high chance of dropping a med kit, which heals 64 life points. As long you didn't take too much damage you'll have full health at the end of the stage.
- You wait until the boss starts flashing red, that means the boss is almost dead (< 10% of health). Let the boss kill you. Use a continue to get full health and keep fighting the boss. If the boss hits you again, oh well, you were dumb... let the boss kill you again... use another continue... eventually when you land the last hit on the boss you'll have full health.

Super Gamer - Complete the game using less than 10 credits

Surprisingly not that hard. Just play the game actually trying not to die and you should be good!

Team - Play with all characters

I might be wrong here but I think I only got the achievement after playing with all characters on lonly wolf AND team battle.

Hard - not that hard, but they can be tricky

Need Power - Pick up 500 power ups

You can achieve this by picking up power-ups from barrels and crates. However the fastest way to farm power-ups is by killing enemies with melee attacks. They will mainly drop gems, which don't count towards this achievement, but everything else will.

Rambo - Use all the weapons

Some weapons are more rare than others, so you might have to play the game many time to find them all. Just make sure you play the default path many times as it seems to me that some weapons only respawn there. Here is a check list of all the weapons you should look for:

[ ] Heavy: Heavy Machine Gun
[ ] Vulcan: Similar to Heavy Machine Gun, except it's three shots per button push
[ ] Flame: Flame Thrower
[ ] 3 Way: Three Way Spreadshot Gun
[ ] Buster: Shoots a speeding flame
[ ] Rocket: Rocket Launcher
[ ] Missile: Missile Launcher
[ ] Hyper: Similar to the Shotgun in the Metal Slug series

Noob - Complete the game dying more than 40 times

This seems to be glitched in some way. Here is what works:

1.- Select Normal Difficulty
2.- Play with Jackal (Blonde Dude) on Lonly Wolf Mode
3.- Select the Jungle route
4.- Die 40+ on the first level (I did it with normal enemies instead of the boss)
5.- Do not change the route
6.- Finish the game

my opinion as a programmer: I believe there's no register on the memory tracking the number of deaths. For every time you die (at least on the first stage) one point will be added to your score. Every other action in the game that adds points to your score gives you more than 100 points. So whatever you do, your score will look like this 999_999_999_9XY, where XY will be a counter of how many times you die. When you finish the game, you'll receive the achievement if XY > 40. For some reason, dying on later stages (not the first stage) won't add to those digits.

@Drift It does take time, some weapons are rare. It doesn't matter if you use all the ammo. Her is a checklist of all the weapons you should fine:

Great guide, however I'm kind of stuck with the Rambo one.

Does this also applies to the character's special bombs as well? Whenever I get a new weapon, does it mean I need to use up all the ammo before getting a new weapon?

I earned "Team" (all characters) simply by dying on the first level in lone wolf easy and selecting different characters via continue. i did not play any team battle previously. it unlocked after roughly 2 cycles through all characters.

If you lose too much health in the stage before you get to 2x crates arranged close and vertically you should die there then get the 3 way power up. Avoid breaking the right crate during the helicopter fight then unleash it before moving on for 64 health on your way to the boss do your best on the bridge and remember one of the rocket boys can merely be avoided and he will fly off. Do try to take at least one out for good measure. Grab the last crate before the tank boss with the three way shot on the left iirc. Spam the boss with 3 way shot as it approaches and 3-5 boomerangs. Roll left once while shooting and spamming boomerangs diag then right (or vice versa) and fall in the dead zone of the rocket barrage until you just win. If you have further trouble and are losing life more than desired try perfecting the rush on enemies to melee them and garner health drops instead of restarting a whole attempt.

In regard to the Cook achievement:
Every stage I play starts me with a life bar that has health missing and says health bonus. So dying doesn't exactly fully recharge my health. The bosses that seem to drop health kits are almost always mid stage bosses.
What I ended up doing was replaying the first stage on the upper left of the
map over and over maining the gentleman with the exploding boomerang.
