Target distance indicator on your HUD
(1) is an indicator of your distance from the target. The closer you are to the target, the lower the arrow will be.
(2) if the arrow is in this zone, it means you are within range. But the missile consumes fuel before it gets there. This means that if you shoot at a low altitude or shoot at a mobile target, the target may not be hit.
(3) in this zone, the target is most likely to be hit. The missile will have enough fuel to reach the target and maneuver.

Fire and forget
Now that you know when the time is right, just shoot. AGM-88 are fire and forget missiles. This means that after the shot, you can immediately aim at another target and fire another missile.
AGM-65
Arm your weapons and select AGM-65. Then put TGP on one of your MFDs
TGP
Power up your TGP by pressing PWR (1) Then use SOI and zoom (2) to find your targets. Choose one. POINT (3) must lights up next to him. (It means you are aiming exactly at the target.)

Now focus on the target distance indicator on your HUD

Target distance indicator on your HUD
The target distance indicator for the AGM-65 is the same as for the AGM-88 and is described slightly above.

How to fire AGM-65
Now that you have a targeted target through the TGP and you are within range, you will see a similar situation on your HUD. (1) is your target targeted by TGP. (2) is where your rocket is aimed. In this case, nowhere.

To target the missile at your target, you must press and hold the trigger. (1) locked target
Looks like the missile is already targeting itself after the last update. That means all you have to do is curl your nose up to the target. The missile will lock on to the target on its own. And then all you have to do is pull the trigger. :)

Now while holding the trigger, press the weapon switch button at the same time. It will fire the missile.

Good note by Gorva:
Probably a little late, but the behaviour of the AGM65 tracking can be modified in the "equip" tab in your MFDs, when selecting AGM65 you can toggle between automatic uncaging or manual uncaging, which controls what pulling the trigger does.

Hi, HARMs do not show the distance to the target automatically after the radar update. The range indicator will now only show if you know the exact location of the target. Your radar can now lock only on to the direction from which you are being targeted. You now need input from multiple sources to accurately locate the target. For example, multiple aircraft targeting the same radar. At least that's my understanding. If I'm wrong someone correct me:)

To Mapangel: That's really strange maybe the singleplayer mission has some limitations.
To HenriXVI: That's good to hear, thank you! But I hope you learn soon enough that you won't need it. :-)

Its the normal game however it does work in multiplayer which is weird

So with that said, I could pick a weapon before a mission and then it wouldn't show up. I've never encountered that before. Are you using any mods that might interfere with the normal functioning of the game?

Not showing up in the master arm
Mapangel1 17 Jun @ 8:20am
yes

I don't know what you mean by not showing up. What do you mean, not show up in the master arm? You mean you can't switch to them?
