You are correct that these do not move like real windpuppets - they don't pop and jerk and all that fun stuff. in fact, the bends are modeled into them - they essentially keep the same shape and just sway or bend back and forth.
We have found a way to make them actually animated like a real windpuppet but it would take A LOT more time and effort as it involves keyframes and Unity.
