WWII M2 M3 M3-covered M3A1 and M16 Halftracks

White Motor Company began production of the M2 halftrack in 1940 and was expanded to include Autocar. Built from the back of the M2 and M3 Scout cars already in use its body was extended and rear wheels replaced with rubber tracks. Initially intended for use as an artillery tractor, the M2 was also used as a personnel carrier, recon track and many others. Being fitted with different types of weaponry through the war it took on many roles from AA platform with the M16 or armored troop transport like the M3A1 the halftrack was a very formidable piece of equipment!
