This Guide is about Achievements
It may seem obvious, but this guide is about achievements and achievements only.
I take it for granted, that, if you're going for 100%, you're familiar with the basic game concepts. Thus, I will not explain those in this guide. Just a few notes and one-liner at most.

That being said, take a look at this awesome guide by Minorou, which explains pretty much everything you would want to know:

[DLC] - Sunbreak
Since Sunbreak doubled the achievements, and most of you will already have unlocked most of the base game achievements, I decided NOT to add them to this guide. I wrote a new one exclusively for the DLC, instead:

Achievement
Description
Kamura Amulet
A trinket given to new hunters who have proved themselves capable.
Ancestral Blade
A prize for vanquishing Magnamalo.
This blade has led Kamura for generations.
Apex Shortsword
Granted for banishing an Apex in the Rampage.
Its blade is riddled with battle scars.
Tempestuous Triumph Scroll
A hanging scroll from Master Hojo,
depicting your victory over Wind Serpent Ibushi.
Calamity Conqueror Scroll
Received upon defeating Ibushi and Narwa.
Depicts the two serpents leading the Rampage.
Fan of Fading Crimson
A decorative fan that depicts a heroic figure
confronting the ominous crimson glow.

Well, play the main missions of both the village and the gathering hub.
To give you a bit of context for these quests:
  • Complete the tutorial quest in the village.
  • Hunt Mangamalo in the *5 village urgent quest: "Comeuppance".
  • Hunt Apex Arzuros in the *4 hub urgent quest: "The Blue Apex".
  • Hunt Ibushi in the *6 hub urgent quest: "Serpent God of Wind".
  • Hunt Narwa in the *7 hub urgent quest: "Serpent Goddess of Thunder".
  • Hunt Crimson Glow Valstrax in the *7 hub quest "The Crimson Glow".
-> Requires HR 100 to unlock.

Image
Achievement
Description
Fan of Ascendancy
The mark of a hunter who has attempted some of the toughest quests around
--and won.

Complete all available village quests to receive a final village quest called "Advanced: The Veteran's Gala".
Completing that one will unlock this achievement.
(I think you also need to have completed the *7 hub urgent to hunt Thunder Serpent Narwa, since having done so was mentioned by Fugen the Elder, when he gave me the quest.)

Image
Achievement
Description
Aspiring Hunter Certificate
A souvenir from the Guild for completing many low rank quests.

This will be unlocked by completing all low rank HUB quests.
This achievement does NOT require the village to be completed, nor does it need 50 low rank quests, like the similarly named rampage achievement in the chapter below.

Image
Achievement
Description
Fan of True Ascendancy
Mark of a Hunter who has bested Infernal Springs' most arduous
challenges.

Complete the *7 hub quest "The Crimson Glow", which'll unlock upon hitting HR100, to get access to 5 "Advanced: " quests. Complete these to receive a semi-final quest called "Proof of Power".
Completing that one, as well as having hunted at least 1 Apex Rathalos, 1 Apex Zinogre and 1 Apex Mizutsune, will then unlock the actual final quest called "Those Crowned Apex".
Completing THAT one will get you this achievement.
-> You can also get it by having a friend or someone in the lobby post it and then joining the quest, skipping all of the above.

Image
Achievement
Description
Adept Hunter Certificate
A souvenir from the Guild for completing many high rank quests.

Complete ALL available high rank hub quests (events excluded).
Note that the standalone quests for all Apex monsters are locked behind successfully hunting them within a Rampage quest first.
Depending on what you did while grinding up to HR100, this might unlock at the same time as the achievement just above.

Image
Achievement
Description
Arena Fighter Certificate
A souvenier from the Guild for completing many Arena quests.

There are 6 arena quests. You only need to clear them, your rank doesn't matter.
These quests will be unlocked upon successfully hunting the monsters in their "normal" quests first, either in village or hub:
  • Kulu-Ya-Ku
  • Barroth
  • Royal Ludroth & Nargacuga
  • Barioth
  • Rajang
  • Volvidon & Basarios & Bazelgeuse

Achievement
Description
Spiritwood Necklace
Awarded for completing 50 quests in the Shrine Ruins.
Made from Spiritwood Branches.
Frozen Lampsquid Earring
Awarded for completing 50 quests in the Frost Islands.
A relic encased in primeval ice.
Prismatic Chalice
Awarded for completing 50 quests in the Flooded Forest.
Was found buried under rubble.
Silver Cactus Ring
Awarded for completing 50 quests in the Sandy Plains.
A peculiar silver cactus ring.
Heliotrope Bracelet
Awarded for completing 50 quests in the Lava Caverns.
Glitters a red-blue mélange.

Written right there in the descriptions. Complete 50 quests each in all 5 main maps of MH Rise.
And yes, joining other hunters' quests does count.

You can safely ignore these achievements. I guarantee you'll unlock them naturally while going for all the other achievements, like 1000 large monsters in total and all gold crowns...

Image
Achievement
Description
Rampage Nemesis Certificate
A souvenir from the Guild for completing many Rampage quests.

Complete 50 rampage quests. Check your progress on this on your ingame guild card.
As for the quests above: Joining rampages through SOS does count.

Image
Achievement
Description
Dreadnought Destroyer Plaque
Hunt 1000 large monsters.

Okay, there are a few things to be said about this one.

First: YES, captured monsters DO count!

Second: Monsters in rampages do NOT count for this, except for the quest target at the end.

Third: Where to check your progress? There's a certain inconsistency in your guild card.

On page 2/7 of your guild card, you'll see a counter for "Slain" monsters and a counter for "Captured". The slain counter does NOT already include the captured counter.
On page 7/7 of your guild card, you'll see a counter for "Hunted" and a counter for "Captured" for each individual monster. The hunted counter DOES already include the captured counter.
-> This means: The SUM for slain and captured on page 2 is your actual progress towards the achievement.

Fourth: You'll need to hunt every monster at least 10 times as a requirement for another achievement ("Sturdy Padlock"), except for the final boss Narwa, the Allmother. Although Thunder Serpant Narwa IS required 10 times.

Will happen along the Way

Achievement
Description
Extravagant Cashbox
Awarded for earning 1,000,000 zenny.
Heavy with impressively intricate goldwork.
Well-worn Cashbox
Awarded for accumulating 100,000 Kamura Points.
Gleams with polish despite great use.

These two will happen while you go for 1000 hunted monsters. You do NOT need to own the required amounts at once. You just need to have earned them all throughout your playtime.

Image
Achievement
Description
Seasoned Jockey Plaque
Awarded for riding many different monsters.

Reading this one's description, one might think it would be required to actually wyvern ride most of / all monsters once. That is NOT the case though. This achievement is awarded for mounting 100 monsters.

Either way, this is entirely impossible to miss on your way to 1000 hunted monsters, so you can just ignore this on as well.

Image
Achievement
Description
Kamura Pinwheel
Awarded for performing 1000 Wiredashes.
Spins smoothly in the wind.

This is such an integral new mechanic to the game, it'll unlock in no time at all. You'll see.

Achievement
Description
Great Wirebug Plate
Awarded for discovering many Great Wirebug launch points.
Sports a nice relevant design.

You not only need to discover the launch points - at which point they are called "Jewel Lilies" -, you'll also need to actually assign Great Wirebugs to them. Note that some of them NEED to be actived mid-air, at the end of another Wirebug's trajection.

You'll be given the Great Wirebugs by an NPC right next to your house, called Senior Hunter Hanenaga. The first few are for free, after which he starts giving you a few requests for more - which you receive after defeating the *5 village Magnamalo and the *4 hub Apex Arzuros.
Once you have a few of those, go on an expedition, open your map and filter for the white pointer icons. Those are the unassigned locations, as assigning them a Great Wirebug colors them orange+yellow.
You will get exactly as many Great Wirebugs as you can assign on all maps. So if you still have some left, you missed a few spots.
Note that your map will only show the unassigned spots on your current layer though, so check each layer of the map.

If you'd still like a video on all their locations, check out this one by Gaming with Abyss:

Description
Hunting Helpers Plate
Awarded for gathering 500 Hunting Helpers.
Features a beautiful depiction of them.

As with the achievement just below, this could unlock naturally for you, if the hunting helpers happen to be a part of your playstyle.

But if they aren't, there's a reaaal easy method to do this. Check out this on-point video by Dugarr:

Image
Achievement
Description
Golden Spiribug Plate
Awarded for gathering 1000 golden and gilded spiribugs.
Shines much like they do.

This one is kinda annoying. Depending on your way of playing, you might actually unlock this naturally, while going for all other achievements (looking at those 1000 hunted monsters, yet again).
But you might also collect barely any of them...

Don't be too afraid though, since there's a solid route to collect them quite efficiently (albeit way slower than the method for the achievement above).
Here's a full video of a ~3min run to collect ~30ish of them, by EternalHazard:

Description
Deft-hand Rod
Awarded for catching many fish.
Feels familiar in your hands. One cast, one catch!

You need to catch all of the fish listed below by actually fishing them during a quest or expedition. Obtaining them via the Argosy or whatever does NOT count.
And yes, you DO need to catch each version individually. So 1 Whetfish AND 1 Great Whetfish, for example.

You do NOT need the "Armored Bream" and "Springnight Carp", which are only obtainable through the Argosy.

Note that 4 of these fishes are only available in high rank, marked with an (HR).
While most of these fishes can be caught at several spots, the easiest way would be to get them at:
  • Shrine Ruins
    Lava Caverns
    Area 6 (left spot):
    • Goldenfry

    Area 6 (right spot):
    • Crimsonfish
    • Goldenfish
    • Platinumfish (HR)

    Area 13:
    • Combustuna
    • Big Combustuna
    • Gastronoma Tuna
    • Great Gastronoma Tuna (HR)
    Area 1:
    • Scatterfish
    • Sushifish
    • Popfish
    • Flamefin
    • Great Flamefin
    • Whetfish
    • Great Whetfish
    • Brocadefish
    • King Brocadefish
    • Supreme Brocadefish (HR)

    Area 3:
    • Speartuna (HR)

Palamute / Palico
Image
Achievement
Description
Shabby Canyne Saddle
Awarded for riding Canynes many times.
Worn in odd places from countless voyages.

You need to spend a total of 10 hours while sitting on your palamute.
Since riding a palamute during a mission allows you to move faster than by yourself, you might unlock this naturally while going for 1000 hunted monsters / all gold crowns. But if you don't wanna wait on this one, just hop onto your palamute back in the village and go afk.
This one does not unlock WHILE riding your palamute, but mounting it anew, leaving the area or completing a quest will do the trick.

Image
Achievement
Description
Palamute Gear Tune-up Kit
Awarded for collecting all Palamute Gear.
Daily maintenance is what will make it last!

You'll unlock new Palamute gear by completing the 6 villager requests with "Palamute" in their names. All of them are given to you by an NPC called "Canyne Master Inukai", which is located in the Steelworks, to the left of Hinoa.

We a-purr-eciate your fur-iendly patronage!

You don't need to have 50 at the same time. Hiring and immediately dismissing them does the trick.

Awarded for raising various support-type Palicoes to their maximum levels.

You need to level one Palico of each support-type to level 50:
  • Healer

  • Gathering

Good Luck Charm
Proof of having sent the Meowcenairies out on a quest 100 times.

Just sending your buddies on a mission and immediately recalling them a 100 times does NOT work for this, sadly. But you also do NOT actually need to send them on a 100 quests either, like it would seem.
You're meowcenairies need to collect 100 rewards. Since all quests have 5 stages, you only need to send them on 20 full trips. Watch out for the on-screen message on the right side of your screen after returning from a quest, which informs you, that they returned.
Recalling them in the middle of a trip also works and will progress this achievement by the number of stages successfully completed, before recalled.

Description
Antique Bookmark
Awarded for finding many Old Messages.
Adorned with a tasteful pattern.

There are 60 old messages, also called relic records, in total. 12 each for all 5 main maps.
You can check which ones you have in your menu -> Hunter's Notes -> Notebook.
Since these can be really tricky to find, check this video by Team Darkside for help:

Achievement
Description
Beat-up Construction Kit
Awarded for unlocking lots of camps.
Each of its nicks and grooves tells a story.

Youll first need to discover the camping spots. Upon doing so, you'll receive an on-screen message, that the place you just found would be suitable. Back in the village, you'll now have access to new requests given by the item merchant, which you'll have to complete, in order to actually have the new camps set up.

Most of them are fairly easy to find, if you actually go for an exploration tour on each map - or by simply checking your map, once you've joined another player's quest, for which that player has already built the camps.

Description
Sturdy Padlock
Awarded for collecting many decorations and hanging scrolls.
Remember to lock up!

For this, you'll need to complete three sets of items:
  • First, you'll obtain a total of 12 carvings from Kagerour the Merchant, once you've collected all 60 relic records / old messages. Check first achievement of this section.

  • You'll need a whole lot of Hanging Scrolls. You get all of them by trading with the Argosy. But in order to first unlock those trades, you need to:
    • "The Leader" - (already in your home, just listing here for completion)
    • "Fast Friends" - unlock *3 village quests
    • "Slayer of Malice" - unlock *5 village quests
    • "Moonlit Night" - Reach HR 50
    • "The Showdown" - unlock *4 hub quests

    • And 1 scroll for EACH monster, once you've hunted that monster 10 times. So, yes, more than 400 hunts for this one. This includes literally every monster in the base game - so everything you can hunt in high rank - except for the final boss Narwa, the Allmother. Though Thunder serpant Narwa IS required 10 times.
Yes, this includes the Apex versions.

  • Lottery items. Upon returning from a quest, you'll sometimes get the on-screen message: "There's a sale going on at the Market and Guild Store!". If you get this, visit the local lottery. There you'll need to win all of these (listed in ingame order, for better comparison):

    • Kamura Twins
    • Golden Hojo Cast

Image
Achievement
Description
Petalace Arrangement Vase

Master's Black Belt
Awarded for obtaining many Switch Skills,
a feat of both mental and bodily discipline.

You need all switch skills for this. There are 3 per weapon type. The requirements of them are:
  • Simply progress through village and hub quests
  • Complete a certain High Rank hub quest, which has the weapon type explicitly in it's name. Like "Grasp the Great Sword" or "Learn the Long Sword". These quests are spread over *4 to *6 hub quests.
  • You need to have owned a total of 8 unique weapons per weapon type. Upgrading works for this one. So, for example: Craft 4 different bows, and upgrade each of them once. -> 8 weapons done. Also works with 2 different bows, which you upgrade 3x each, etc pp. Just have 8 different in total.

Wreath of Honor
A wreath received from the villagers
as thanks for taking on their many requests.

You need to complete a total of 100 villager requests for this achievement.
Note though, that the "optional subquests" available through Hinoa and Minoto, do count as requests as well and therefor make this a lot easier, as there's an unlimited amount of them.

By far the most of the regular villager requests are pretty easy, but should you need help for some of the harder ones, check out this video guide by Kucing Obesitas:

  • First off, some of the NPCs may be in a conversation with- or just sit right next to each other from time to time. You will only be able to talk to one of them. But there's a button to cycle through the interactable NPC. It was the Y button on switch, so it should be square on a playstation controller or X on a xbox controller. No idea for PC, but it's displayed on the left side of your screen.

  • Start by approaching the scroll in your house to talk to the hidden Palico Fugashigi. This might save you some time.

  • Have you talked to Sekirei in the Training Room? A lot of people missed the fella.

  • The 2 drummer palicos - Badum & Tish - in the gathering hub can ONLY be talked to, if the default background music plays. So if you've changed the music in your house, you may need to put it back to default.

  • The 2 rice trader - Senari & Suzukari - tend to be especially inconsistent with their availability. Make sure to check the rice sacks in the alley to the left of Hinoa repeatedly, until you get both of them. Or try your luck by searching for them in the village.

  • Kajika usually bathes in a little hut right next to the entrance to your hosue, which makes him unavailable to interact with. You need to catch him, while he's at the shop, that you're facing after leaving your room.

  • Zenichi, the Doctor spends most of his time on some roofs.
  • Goka, which is usually next to Canyne Master Inukai is reportedly also not always intaractable with.

Gold Crowns

Achievement
Description
Mini Crown Plaque
Awarded for registering many miniature crown-sized monsters.
Gold Crown Plaque
Awarded for registering many gold crown-sized monsters.

They might be called plaques, but they really are a plague.

All monsters apart from Ibushi and Narwa are required for these two achievements, including the 6 apex monsters.

Probably the easiest way of checking a monster for their size is to lure them into a shock trap, which always forces them into a certain pose. Once that's done, look where the top of your character's head is in relation to the monster. This way, you can rather easily check, if a monster is considerable higher or smaller than the previous one.

You do NOT need to finish a quest, after you've hunted a gold crown monster. Which can save quite some time in multi-monster quests.
Leaving via "Return from Quest" saves your hunt. Do NOT "Abandon Quest" though!

Here's an overview for all event quests with guaranteed crowns:

Badge of Excellence
The mark of a peerless hunter,

Note though, that you need to unlock all achievements on a single character, since it's directly tied to obtaining the in-game guild card award of the same name.

In order to provide the best guide I can, I've compared my own experiences with all of the following sources, their comment sections and the pages, videos and articles linked within them:
From within this guide's comment section:
  • Thanks to DakotaThrice for telling me, that Wreath of Honor does indeed count BOTH normal villager requests as well as the optional sidequests by Hinoa and Minoto.
  • Thanks to Tengu for confirming, that really any five pieces of layered armor work for "Luxury Armor Stand" and for pointing me towards the now simplified fishing spot overview for "Deft-hand Rod".
  • Thanks to Moonmadness for pointing out an error I made with "Fan of True Ascendancy".
  • Thanks to Grizzly for pointing out an error on "Sturdy Padlock".
  • Thanks to Ryan and tho_d for pointing out an error with "Great Wirebug Plate"
  • Thanks to Zephyrox for pointing out a mistake I made with Spiritbugs & Spiritsbirds.

Go to Nexusmods -> MH Rise -> Popular (All Time).
All mods I've been using are within the first 5 pages.

@Gina Pescatore
No, there isn't. Order is up to you. Have you tried this?

"To check which you've already photographed:
Open your menu -> Hunter's Notes -> Endemic Life -> Search for the entries listed below (everything from Poisontoad to Aurortle) -> check available photos (button for your input device listed in the upper right corner)."

I took a picture all the endemic life creatures but the game won't give me the achievement. Is there an order to take the pics?

@Zephyrox - I did. Thanks :)

About the first point in the achievement "Gold Ecologist's Award", did you mean Gold / Gilded Spiribug instead of Spiribird?

@Travutopia, I highly recommend not bothering with getting any achievements until you are completely satisfied with what you'd consider a normal play through. Gunning for all the achievements and not having fun is just painful and not recommended. Find some buddies, have fun, and pace yourself and don't worry about the achievements until you feel it's time :)
