THE CURRENT VERSION (1.4):

WARNING! Version 1.4 is NOT backwards compatible with saves created on vanilla game!

WARNING! Since most of the stuff that was added to the official update 2.0 was transferred from the more advanced "devbuild" of the mod, the 1.4 version now remains in a peculiar position of being slightly inferior to 2.0 when it comes to some small features like cruise control or new icons.

TEST VERSION (1.5):

Mostly to fix the current situation of the mod version being inferior to official one in terms of improvements, but also to introduce some stuff like custom ground textures, ambient soundscapes, two small locations for Cities, additions to City of Angels, kinetopede evasion upgrades, and more: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WTJXgrDB4iZ1k_JUhj85HJN5YyTuKVh5/view?usp=sharing (not compatible with saves from any other version, modded or not).

How to install:

Copy my "data.win" file, "Images" folder and audio files to the "Steam\steamapps\common\A House of Many Doors" folder, overwriting the file when asked.

What's included:

1.) Some additional ways to earn Scrutinies;
2.) New musical tracks for regions and some specific rooms;
3.) Experimental combat change: 6 actions instead of 4;
4.) You can see the borders of the House on your map screen (red key icons) and borders of the regions (dark blue squares). After the certain stage of the main quest, you can also see locations of all unlockable rooms (green key icons, the Orchard stays unmarked) and true borders of all hidden regions;
5.) Cut crew member is available for hire - Tera Skae. You can randomly get her through the usual advertising. For now, she as bare-bones as Viola and I'll need to write a personal quest and a flirt option for her in the future;
6.) Removed the annoying bats screen effect (sound remains unchanged);
7.) Four new locations added to the neutral lands, one new location - to the Ghoulwatch region, one location added to Confectorate and two more to the Badlands - new region created around the Goat-Stones;
8.) Skills now cap at 150 (esoterica caps at 100 for balance); can still be exceeded by crewmates bonuses;
9.) Fuel maximum cap obtainable from shops = 20 units;
10.) New interactions for waste disposal, carnage and rust, affina and other locations;
11.) Abiliy to name your kinetopede at the start;
12.) Advanced captain's cabin with access to stats improvement anywhere and anytime you want, tutorial hints compendium and auto-updating merchant catalog;
13.) Some new bonuses for succeseful missionary work;
14.) Exploration overhaul of overworld encounters;
15.) Alternate image for Byssus, courtesy of ever helpful user Nanako;
16.) One new banter event by user Sanity#1435;
17.) A poem for Murmurhold written by user Noicest Dungeon;
18.) Additional lodgings in Eld Abrathat and ability to write poetry in Fargyle Keep and Old Hallow.

Nanako - my Steam friend, who helps me a lot with AI artwork (she also was the one who edited Byssus' image), provides a constant flow of good advices and even contacted Catherine Unger for me.
Sanity - Discord user who wrote some new banter events.
Noicest Dungeon - admin of the HOMD Discord server - a community of wonderful people who help me a lot with testing the mod and inspire new ideas for it. Noicest also wrote a poem you can randomly stumble upon in Murmurhold.

Unfortunately there's another problem now. When in Old Hallow, dropping off a passenger causes the menu to go blank. There's no other options, like "Inside your Kinetopede", and you can't even leave the location. It makes it so I can't drop off the passenger and continue playing at all.

And if I try to leave without dropping them off, I get a weird glitch where leaving the Old Hallow and going back north causes my kinetopede to shake and take a bit of hull damage. Tbh I've seen this before. It's only a bit (3-4 hull points), but unavoidable hull damage when loading into other rooms is a hassle that you might want to check out

That fixed it! I can keep playing the game now, and see the whole holiday. Thank you for all your hard work on this mod! It makes a fascinating game so much more fun

Unfortunately that still hasn't fixed this specific problem. The Anestheria event still appears but without a scroll bar or any way to close out of the event. Maybe it's a UI issue with this particular event if you don't have a Biological Anomaly and are in an empty room?

Don't be sorry btw. I love this mod! If anything I'm glad to help iron out bugs

Okay, I tried moving surface_reset_target() lower. We'll try until it works, I guess. Sorry for making you re-download again.

That seems to have worked? Though now, when it becomes Anestheria (the holiday for Scorthidion), I get an event that I can't scroll down or exit. I can't even press Escape and get to the menu; I have to shut down the game in Task Manager. It makes it so I can't play the game. If I had to guess, the surface_reset_target() error stemmed from that holiday - the error occurred at the same time as this holiday event.

So apparently "Unbalanced surface stack" error happens when you call surface_set_target() to set a surface as the drawing target but fail to call surface_reset_target() to reset it back. I found two places in the code when this is the case and fixed them (I think). Re-uploaded again.

Unfortunately that doesn't seem to have worked. Is there any place that I can send you my save file? The error happens if you go the empty room directly west of Kennedy Yard and check on the ruined house
