Globe View
Globe View

The globe view is where you fight the infection on a planet-wide scale. From this screen you will take charge of every facet of the Blackhorne defence network. You decide what infections are fought, and when and how we fight them. From this screen you will send your attack helicopters to fight infection from the air, send in your elite troops to take out the threat on the ground and dispatch clean-up choppers to disinfect the isolated contagion.

Globe UI Overview

  1. Clock – This is the Doomsday clock, If this timer reaches zero, a cataclysmic extinction even will occur. Click-Holding the clock will manually speed up time until released.

  2. Fast Forward Buttons – These buttons will toggle the fast-forward of time. The fast-forward is stopped as soon as a globe event happens, or when the button is clicked again.

  3. Population Bar – This bar shows how much of the population of the earth are still alive.

  4. Outbreak Bar – Shows how much potential infection is in the atmosphere, this bar is filled when a meteor is destroyed. When at zero, no new outbreaks can occur.

  5. Infection Level – This indicates the current level through the game which increases with each destroyed Meteor.

  6. Quick action bar – These buttons allows you to quickly navigate between Helicopters, Missions, Outbreaks and general notices.

    • Toggles between all Aircraft on the globe

    • Shows a squad is ready to be deployed to a mission

    • Shows available contract missions

    • Shows potential outbreak locations

    • Shows Zompod locations

    • Shows Strategic defence locations

  7. Team Info Panel – This shows the selected helicopter’s current stats, and the stats of the soldiers currently in that team.

  8. Location Info Panel – Shows you vital information about the currently selected location. An aircraft icon will be displayed in this window to show what type of aircraft is required at this location.

  9. Mission information panel – Shows you information about the selected mission node.

Navigating the globe

You can navigate the globe by clicking and dragging in any open space on the screen (anything that isn’t a button). You can also use the quick action bar to move quickly between various places on the globe.

Locations

The globe is covered by location markers. These locations come in a variety of forms, such as Cities, Outposts and Mission markers. All of these locations can be selected by simply clicking on them if using a mouse or navigating to them using the joystick on a controller.

Building and Selling Outposts and Turrets

Entering the build menu from the Globe screen will enter build mode. In this view you can see all the available outpost locations at your disposal and use them to create aircraft outposts or construct turrets. Select your desired location and you will be taken to a menu that will show you what is currently available to build there.

Destroying Meteors

The globe is littered with Meteor crash sites, and it is your job to destroy them! Simply click onto the meteor you want to destroy, and click “Destroy” to detonate the selected meteor.
Destroying meteors will add time onto the doomsday clock, but will also cause the release of large amounts of contagion in the immediate area with possible secondary release at any previously destroyed meteors. Every time you destroy a meteor the Infection level goes up, this introduces harder enemies and increases the difficulty of Zompod extermination missions.
The Infection
Outbreak Level

As you progress through Global Outbreak: Doomsday Edition, the level of the infection will rise. The higher the level the more advanced the infection will become. The infection will spread more violently and more advanced and stronger enemies will appear in ground missions.

Location nodes

Location nodes come in a variety of different states depending on the state of that current location. These states all relate to how this location is effected by the contagion.

Unaffected – This node is clear of infection

Potential Outbreak – Infection has been sighted at this node, it is a future outbreak site and will become a Zompod node if it is joined to another infection node. When the bar at this side of this location marker is full, it will outbreak. The greater the population at a location, the faster the bar will fill.

Zompod Node (Outbreaking) – The infection has reached a critical mass in this location, there is nothing we can currently do to directly attack this node. The node is actively spreading the infection outward from this point.

Zompod Node (Feeding) – This infection is feeding on the population of this location and surrounding locations, cut off its food source and create a path out for citizens to evacuate.

Zompod Node (Not Feeding) – All citizens have evacuated the location and it is no longer attached to any populated nodes. The node is attackable by ground forces and will be relatively easy to destroy.

Infected nodes (connected) – This node is connected to a Zompod node and it is feeding the infection there. Fight off this infection with Attack choppers (red) to weaken the Zompod node. These nodes will vary in colour from yellow to red depending on how heavily infected the node is. The more locations that an infected node is attached to the harder it is to break down, so it is often wise to take out attached locations first. The population of this node will try to escape to unaffected nodes, if there is no un-infected route out of the location the population will be killed.

Infected Nodes (non-connected) – This node is isolated from any Zompod nodes, the infection is still present here but is ready to be cleaned up using a Clean-up air unit, this will return the node to an unaffected state and allow people to evacuate through this location.

Strategic location – This location has signed up for special protection, keep this node clear of infection for the allocated contract length and you will be rewarded.

Population/Infection Management

A key element to your success in Global Outbreak: Doomsday Edition is saving as much of the population as possible. This is achieved by making sure the population of infected nodes have places to evacuate to.

Location nodes have 5 different population states.
  • Safe – This node is Safe, it is not infected and there is currently a safe route out of the location.

  • Being Infected – The people of this location are currently being infected, they can escape to safe locations if they are connected to any.

  • Evacuating – The population of this location are moving away from the infection towards a safe node

  • Evacuated – This location no longer has any un-infected population, this node will be quicker to clean up than an evacuating node.

  • Trapped – This node has a stranded population, the node itself is not being infected but there is no direct route to a safe node.
Aircraft
Types of Aircraft

You will take command over a variety of different aircraft, these aircraft fall into 3 categories, each with their own distinct purpose.
  • Troop Carrier – Used to take your troops into ground missions at zompods and contract mission markers.
  • Attack Helicopter – Used to fight off infections in nodes connected to zompods.
  • Clean-up Helicopter – Used to restore un-connected infected nodes back to an unaffected state.

Sending Aircraft to locations

Sending aircraft to different areas of the globe is done two ways. Either by selecting the aircraft directly and then selecting the node you want to send it to, or by first selecting the node you want to send an aircraft to, and using the “Next Helicopter” button to select the nearest relevant Aircraft and then using the “Send to” option.

Fuel and Range

Each aircraft has a fuel tank, this dictates how long it can stay away from base for before it has to return back. The current range of the selected aircraft is indicated by a radius that will be drawn on the surface of the globe.
Turrets
Turrets can be used to help slow down the travel of the infection. They are unlocked during contract missions and are installed on nodes in the build screen. When a turret runs out of ammunition they will disappear from the globe and the inventory space will be refunded.

Weapon Research Tree
Research UI Overview

New weapons are researched in the research screen, from this screen you can select primary and secondary weapons and upgrade them. Each weapon has an upgrade tree that allows the player to upgrade specific stats of a weapon and eventually unlock the next weapon in the tree.

(Mobile version) I don't understand what "melee" and "strength" do. I assume melee is the dmg you deal in melee attacks???

I think that be able to give simple order to our ai soldier like hold this position, weapons free, conserve ammo,or other tactical order would help.I hate when i have mission about wave fighting they stay in the middle and start firing only when the mob pass the defence line.Having a order like hold this position i could reinforce my right or left flank instead of running around. It feels like my soldier dont know what to do except firing when zombies get close to them. But appart of that this game is awesome ^^ .

the game really needs to allow moving of stations or choppers, you run out of money fast and the out breaks are to far apart. selling doesn't give enough to buy another quick enough.
