There are many aspect that determine what chances you get at being someones pick or having your feelings accepted by another person.
We can split these aspects into two groups;

Now, as we know facial features, height, head shape, yadda yadda, you know what I mean.
Some things simply cannot be changed about us, and that's okay, you really gotta run along with what ya got, okay?

In this section I'm talking about things such as personality type, body physique, tidiness, whether clean your head, wash, smell, etc. etc.

Okay, now I'd want you to take a piece of paper and a pen, and write down all of your flaws.
Got it? Perfect. Now sort them into these two categories of changeable and unchangeable ones. Now please, think about this objectively. Take a good look in the mirror, analize yourself from head to toe.

Now that we clarified what can be changed and what cannot be changed, try imagining the best version of yourself. How many things on this little graph you just wrote down can be changed or modified in some way, so weight, lack of muscle, hairstyle : )

Hey. I know. I really know, lemme tell you a little story of your one and only author, and his sunken chest. Well, if you don't know what pectus excavatum is then bless you! Your dear author had quite a problem with it in fact, he retrieved from publicly showing his chest, going to the beach or to the pool, anything that involved him taking off his shirt. Eventually though, he managed to be operated with the nuss procedure (don't look it up if you're squeamish lmao)!
And guess what, he wasn't one bit happier. Only when he understood there's many more flaws and problems in his life, only then he realized how much there is to change and only then he'll finally accept himself.

You can't just go on to find a person that would suit you. That's why getting a partner is hard in the first place, finding that one and only person within this convoluted and confusing world is really close to zero.
Don't get discouraged though! If you can't find a girlfriend right now, hope for the best in the future, maybe a relationship with one of your friends will evolve into something else, maybe you'll accidentally bump into that person somewhere on the street or meet them at a completely random place.

Its down to chance most of the time.

Once you do find the right person, its mostly downhill from here. Its all about opening yourself up to the other person, not emotionally of course, but rather opening up to them as a person.
Sharing your experiences, ideas, thoughs, situations, sharing stuff you like, finding common interests, and understanding the other person as well.
This entire part is really about giving up time for the other person, dedicating yourself so both you and her can get to know one another (aaaand this is one of the many places where playing TF2, the fantastic class based shooter).
