Especially useful if you get Shrine of Energy(?), the one that gives 1 shield per enemy killed. You will usually be at full 20 shields your entire run.
More importantly, it causes a cascading ice vortex chain reaction that swallows everything on the stage and is tons of fun to watch.
Prince of Ruin is am amazing skill and will trigger off the physical damage from Shatter Shards, I would highly recommend it.
Storm Caller is a divisive skill, often does quite a bit of self-damage, but I always find it worth picking up when I have a lot of health.
Personally I wouldn't bother with Eye of Ice, but it is relatively cheap to pick up and upgrade I guess.
Mega Annihilate is an amazing spell for single-target damage, but I often find that I don't really need it, you're not really strapped for damage, and Icicle gets so many charges that you shouldn't run out of mana potions against high health enemies either.
