The Beginning - Getting Started
Hello fellow Dark Souls II Players,

here i want to release a little guide by me.
In Dark Souls II all Magic Types look pretty decent, but Hexes are too good.
The only negative aspect is, that hexes require a lot of attunement.

Start as a Cleric.
Gift ---> Bonfire Ascetic

Why the Cleric? Cleric starts with good stats for that build and the Cleric starts with a great weapon for the beginning. ( Mace )
The Cleric starts with kinda low Endurance, so get this to like 10 or something. (Spells cost Endurance/Stamina)
After that you need to get your INT and FTH to 20 as soon as possible.
---> Huntsman's Corpse ---> Felkin the Outcast will give you then a pretty good Set and Staff.

Now use Hexes you need a Staff for. Like Dark Orb.
What next!?
After you beaten the Rotten in Black Gulch, use the bonfire ascetic at the bonfire right infront of the Rotten.
Now you need to kill him again to get the Old Dead One Soul. The Battle is pretty hard, cause you are too weak for it, so just summon Phantoms and stay at long range.

After you received his Soul go to Ornifex and trade the Old Dead One Soul for the Crypt Blacksword!

Now you need at least 2 Darknight Stones for your weapons (Crypt Blacksword and Sunset Staff)

The Crypt Blacksword requires 40 STR in order to use it one handed, but it's not worth it.
---> only e scaling in strength. ---> use it two handed.
Final Informations
Your Final Stats should be like:

VGR - 20
END - 20
VIT - (Depends what you want to wear)
STR - 20
DEX - 10
ATT - 30 (For having 6 Spell Slots)
INT - 40
FTH - 30

RINGS :

Abyss Seal - Hexes are stronger but takes like 20 hp per cast.
Southern Ritual Band +2 - Gives you 2 attunement slots.
Clear Bluestone Ring +2 - Let you cast your spells faster.
Third Dragon Ring - Pretty sick allrounder ring.

I like to play with the Darkwraith Armor, because it looks pretty nice and it gives 1 FTH and INT, so you get 2 free stat points.

Spell Number 1 in PvE:
Dark Orb - with your Dark-Infused Staff+5 and the ring Abyss Seal it will do insane damage.

Hope you enjoyed my guide and rate it!

Greetings Cursed one!

Hey,if it fits,i would change the darkwraith helmet for the king's crown,it gives +3 in Faith and Intelligence, btw, the Roaring Halberd and the Scythe of Want also have great DMG with dark,i would reccomend it(Roaring halberd have 750 dmg,the dark crypt GS have 800)

Blah, dark magic is too good. The majority i see are converting to it especially at high soul memory. I prefer to be different *adjusts hipster glasses*. Oh and the +2 southern ritual band gives you 3 attunement slots. yay!

Pretty good beginners guide. For later game, NG+++etc, switch to the Malformed Shell, then eventually the Sacred Chime Hammer. They both do MUCH more damage than the Crypt Blacksword later on.

Done with eqip upgrades(except rings) and this is awesome. Blacksword makes insane damage to bosses and regular mobs when i'm bored with dark orbing these chumps. Easymode begins.

Nice guide. Thanks. Obtaining the Crypt Blacksword was a little tricky. In addition, try dark infused Greatsword. It's easy to obtain, cheap to upgrade, requires less STR for 2H and hit like a truck. I haven't got enough Petrified Dragon Bones for full Crypt Blacksword upgrade(+3 now) and +10 Dark Greatsword outdamages it for now.
