I recommend just winging it, but wrote some strategy notes:

The Dungeon Master is 3per rare symbol that doubles the value of a wide array of 11 non-very-rare symbols associated with questing. It also does the same for not one, but two very rare symbols!

If it's offered up early in a run, the 3 coin value should make it a solid choice under most circumstances. It makes a good number of early symbols take a bit longer to wear out their welcome. It loses its luster later on, but if you have a good collection of the compatible symbols, it can still contribute nicely towards those rent payments.

Where the Dungeon Master symbol really shines is in Cultist runs. Consider yourself lucky if you find one, especially if you've been lowering your luck modifier to find more Cultists. Whether you find an Eldritch Creature or not, you'll have yourself a symbol or group of symbols that are already worth a lot of coins and have a chance to give double that each spin.

A good number of items improve the Dungeon Master symbol's value indirectly. Quigley the Wolf, Reroll, Lucky Dice, Triple Coins, Happy Hour, and their Essences are all useful for adding and enhancing the symbols the Dungeon Master improves.

A Dungeon Master next to the one-and-only Highlander symbol doubles its value to 12 coins instead of 6. It's not every day you see a symbol that specifically works with 2 different very rare symbols, but I think it's a suitable trait for a symbol associated with adventuring and looting.

As a human symbol, the Dungeon Master is yet another symbol that is buffed by the Anthropology Degree item, pets Dog symbols, is destroyed by the General Zaroff symbol, and so on.
