Program: 13-storey tower, divided into 36 apartments

Located in the corner formed by the facade and the street of Foncillon, the Tower of dwelling of Louis Simon is posterior to the whole of the district. It is one of the major elements of the vast subdivision operation of Foncillon, totally destroyed by the bombing. The war damage deals will delay construction for a long time. Facing the sea, its thirteen storeys of habitation, it represents an undeniable symbol for Foncillon. Comprising thirty-six apartments all enjoying the view of the coast, this building quickly displayed its luxury services. Its decomposition in four successive redans gives each dwelling an indisputable intimacy and a southern exposure. Duplex and simplex merge in the three most advanced volumes, animating the facade by the heterogeneity of their height under balconies. The last section, located at the bottom of a plot and turning its back to the rue Pierre Jônain, is regular and gathers apartments of more modest size. Long the only building of this height in Royan, this daring tower in Foncillon owes its fame to the technical prowess implemented, thanks to the participation of engineer René Sarger.
