Union Pacific Waycross Division

All credit for this project goes to the very talented Pear Laurson, who built the original layout.

The Union Pacific Waycross Division is a (nearly) 1 to 1 recreation of Pear Laurson’s amazing modern era layout. This layout represents the Austin Subdivision, the Houston Subdivision, and the Freeport Subdivision. All of the cities and towns depicted are located in southern Texas. Some are real and some are fictional. The largest city on the layout is Waycross, which is home to Waycross Junction. All trackage is owned by Union Pacific, with Norfolk Southern and BNSF having trackage rights.

The layout supports numerous types of freight operations. The Coleman Transloading Facility takes chemicals, fuel, wood, cargo, and refrigeration cars. Waycross yard also takes in cargo for local industries located on the mainline. You’ll find a brewery, a supply warehouse, and an agriculture depot. There is also a massive ADM facility located just south of the city. Some Tropicana juice cars have also been spotted along the line.

This layout is one of my favorites and it was extremely fun to recreate in Rolling Line. I’ll share a few great videos if you want to familiarize yourself with the layout in more detail. There are a few inconsistencies between the real life layout and mine, but this is mostly because I can’t accurately measure the lengths of certain areas. I hope everyone has fun!
