So From Software has this very odd censorship method that will blank out letters and individual things within a name.. This leads to very stupid looking names with parts blanked out... for example, since From Software things the word "♥♥♥" is offensive, you end up with the word "Knight" looking like "K***ht" or "Assassin" as "******in"

But now, through the miracle of foreign language lists, you too can enjoy names such as ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and XXXFAGOTCUNTXXX without any censorship!


Go into your game directory (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dark Souls II\Game) and open the NGWord folder. DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING IN THIS FODER OR SUBFOLDERS.

Deleting the file stops all people with asterisks from joining your game. If you don't have the file in the directory, You will see uncensored names, but attempting to summon tem will result in their being unable to join and will fail to be summoned.

now open either the Chinese or Korean folder, select the one file inside of it and copy it to the English folder, overwriting the file that exists when prompted.

Bam, no more censorship.
