The Basics of Muck

Muck is not a full-time project
Muck is not a game that is constantly being worked on, it was a side project built here by Dani:

Muck is Unfair
Muck was made to be difficult and unfair, and it's learning curve is incredibly steep so don't be discouraged when you die.

Very Important Mechanic
One of the most important gameplay mechanic and aspects is the perks/powerups found in chests, these will be talked about quite a bit in this guide.

The Enemies and the Friendlies
There are many enemies and few friendlies, the enemies are powerful and have good projectile accuracy. The friendlies (the villagers) are friendly if you don't hurt them and don't take from Chief's Chest

Alright let's get on with it!
How 2 Start

Beginning your game
At the start of your game, grab the rock it tells you to but do not begin by chopping down a tree. Instead, roam the island for:
  • Free Powerup Chests (Black and Brown)
  • Free Loot Chests (Green)
  • Villages
These three things will give you better loot faster than if you were to actually cut down trees and mine stone.

Coins are your biggest friend
Coins get you things, from being able to unlock powerup chests to being able to buy things from villagers. The more you have, the better off you'll be.

Powerup Chest's Rarity and Cost
A Chest's Rarity does not only mean you'll get a better chance of more powerful powerups, but the better ones that are more costly have powerups the less-costly chests don't have.
You can have many powerups, but there is a price increase (this will be talked about in depth in the Chest Section

Do not undermine the Bow and Sword
Many people, like myself, began with the iron sword and wood bow and thought it wasn't really worth making it as the axe/pickaxe that did as much or more damage. Don't be fooled by this, Swords and Bows are almost too good to survive. Bows and Swords have special powerups that also make attacking with them better.
Chests
A Look at Chests
Powerups are an important aspect to MUCK, they will make your life less painful while playing the game. These powerups are obtained from chests

The power of the powerups can depend on the rarity/expense of the chest it comes from.

Here is a list (from least to most expensive) of the chest and it's cost.

  • Black Chest | 0 Coins
  • White Chest | 25 Coins
  • Blue Chest | 80 Coins

  • Gold Chest | 200
These prices increase depending on your difficulty and how many days you've spent.

  • Black Chest Loot Chances
    Common: 90%
    Rare: 9%
    Legendary: 1%

  • White Chest Loot Chances
    Common: 80.3%
    Rare: 18.5%
    Legendary: 1.2%

  • Blue Chest Loot Chances
    Common: 0%
    Rare: 85%
    Legendary 15%

  • Gold Chest Loot Chances
    Common: 0%
    Rare: 0%
    Legendary: 100%
b represents the base price, d represents the day number, and m represents the difficulty multiplier which changes depending on the difficulty:

This is what decided the difficulty multiplier.
  • Easy = 8
  • Normal = 6
  • Gamer = 5

Bosses: Part 1
The Bosses of MUCK
This is an in-depth look of each boss in MUCK, what they do, base health, and other notable things (no particular order).

Big Chunk

Base Health: 700

Speed: 14

Minimum Night: 8 (not including Boss Nights)

Weakness: Blunt/

Drops:
  • -Coin | 50 - 100 | Chance: 100%

  • -Rock | 25 - 50 | Chance: 100%

  • -Iron Ore | 10 - 25 | Chance: 80%

  • -Chunkium Ore | 5 - 20 | Chance: 50%

  • -Ancient Core | 1 | Chance: 33%

  • -Mithril Ore | 10 - 25 | Chance: 30%

  • -Hammer Shaft | 1 | Chance: 10%

Attacks:

Slam: Big Chunk slowly raises its club high, then smashes it down in front of it. This attack also hurls a damaging boulder at the nearest player.

Sweep: Big Chunk slowly raises its club and swings it in a 180 degree arc in front of it. The area close to Big Chunk is safe during this attack.

Leaping Slam: Big Chunk bends down, leaps high into the air, and slams down, releasing a triple-shot spread of rolling boulders towards the target player. The boulders are destroyed on contact with structures.

Exploitng Big Chunk's weakness is practically essential for an easy fight.

Gronk

Base Health: 650

Speed: 29

Minimum Night: 8 (not including Boss Nights)

Weakness: None

Drops:
  • -Coin | 50 - 100 | Chance: 100%

  • -Oak Wood | 5 - 15 | Chance: 40%

  • -Ancient Core | 1 | Chance: 33%

  • -Dark Oak | 5 - 15 | Chance: 20%

  • -Blade | 1 | Chance: 20%

  • -Sword Hilt | 1 | Chance: 12%

  • -Ancient Bone | 1 | Chance: 12%

  • -Gronk's Sword | 1 | Chance: 2.5%

    Attacks:

Slash: Gronk raises his swords and repeatedly slashes the area in front of himself 5 times in succession, dealing massive damage if multiple or all hits connect. This attack is only used if there is a player in melee range.

Sword Slam: Gronk puts his swords together, charges up, and slams them on the ground, firing an arc of 5 sword beam projectiles towards the player.

Sword Throw: Gronk readies himself before very quickly throwing his swords at the player, one after another. The swords respawn in his hands shortly after.

    Notable Tips:

    • Gronk does not have a distinctive spawn sound, so be vigilant!

    • His Sword Throw attack can be easily avoided by hiding behind nearby structures, such as trees or walls.

    • Repeated use of the Bulldozer powerup can effectively stun lock Gronk, preventing him from retaliating at all during the fight.

    Guardian

    Base Health: 650

    Speed: 20

Minimum Night: 8 (not included in Boss Nights)

    Weakness: None

    Drops:

    • -Coin | 50 - 100 | Chance: 100%

    • -Gem | 1 | Chance: 100%

    • -Ancient Core | 1 | Chance: 15%

    • -Ruby | 5 - 10 | Chance: 5%

    • -Black Shard | 1 | Chance: 2%

    • -Obamium Ore | 5 - 10 | Chance: 1%

    Attacks:

Double Slash; A melee attack where the Guardian raises its hands and quickly swipes at the area in front of it twice in succession. This attack is only used if there is a target in melee range.

Crystal Spikes; The Guardian jumps into the air and slams down to deal damage, also summoning a pillar of crystal spikes under the target player's position to deal massive damage and vertical knockback. The crystal spikes are telegraphed by a red crosshair while the Guardian is jumping and lead the player's movement, targeting where they will be when the spikes are summoned. The pillar disappears after a few seconds, but is intangible after first forming.

Laser; The Guardian charges up for several seconds with an audible sound effect, then locks onto the nearest player and fires a laser beam that deals heavy sustained damage. The laser travels instantly and is unavoidable by dodging, but will be blocked by all structures and terrain.

    Notable Tips:

    • The Guardian's beam move is often regarded as its hardest hitting attack, and cannot be dodged like a regular attack. To avoid it, hide behind a nearby structure such as a Tree, or use Structure Blocks to avoid taking too much damage.

    • While the Guardian is using it's crystal attack, strafe in the opposite direction you were moving in to throw off its aim.

    • Strafing to the side is a better way to dodge the Guardian's melee attack than backing away, as it has a slightly long range but a very narrow area of effect.

    • The Guardian, like other Bosses, can be stunned in position if the player has enough Bulldozer Powerups.
Bosses: Part 2
Chief:

Base Health: 650

Speed: 26

Minimum Night: 8 (not including Boss Nights)

Drops:

  • -Coin | 50 - 100 | Chance: 100%

  • -Oak Wood | 5 - 15 | Chance: 40%

  • -Ancient Core | 1 | Chance 33%

  • -Dark Oak Wood | 5 - 15 | Chance: 20%

  • -Spear Tip | 1 | Chance: 10%

  • -Chief's Spear | 1 | 2.5%

Attacks:

Slam; Chief raises his spear and slashes downwards, dealing damage. Only used if a target is in melee range.

Twirl; Chief braces himself, then spins on the spot to deal sustained damage to all players near him. Generally only used in melee range.

Leap Strike; Chief leaps towards the target and slams down, dealing damage in a small area on impact which is denoted by a red circle.

Spear Throw; Chief raises his spear in a throwing position before hurling it at the player as a high-speed projectile, dealing heavy damage on impact.

Bob

Base Health: 2500

Speed: 29

Boss Spawns when Ship Sails

Drops: None

Attacks:

Fireball: When flying, Bob periodically launches fireballs at players which explode on impact to deal AoE damage. Their area of effect is denoted by a red circle.

Slam: When Bob perches on the ship, he will slam his arms on the ship twice to deal damage to everything in front of him. When perched, he can also use a single slam as a regular attack.

Fireball Rain: Bob raises his head and launches a large number of explosive fireballs upwards, which randomly rain down on the Ship. Their explosion radii are denoted by red circles. Only used when perched.

Flame Breath: Bob rears back and breathes a constant stream of fire at the position of the nearest player. Only used when perched.

Sweeping Flame Breath: Manoeuvres to the front of the ship and sweeps across the entire Ship with highly damaging fire breath. This attack can be avoided by jumping over it. Only used when perched.

Notable Tips:
  • Bows are the most reliable weapons for inflicting damage during Bob's flying phase.
  • Any of the elemental arrows are recommended, as he does not possess any weaknesses.
