Tips for Beginners
0. Optional - Begin a new campaign if you aren't getting a positive event off the bat.
This isn't exactly essential and it can be tedious, but you're way better off starting off a new campaign that gives you a $4000 check or a rare card/item off the bat than a $ enemy.

1. Don't surrender, restart instead.
1. There is no penalty for hitting ALT+F4 or pressing Esc and clicking "Return to Main Menu" when losing or if you make an incorrect chocie on the map. The game lacks a real time autosave, so if you are losing a match or had no good starting hands, you can close the game and continue the campaign from the map choices. This is a great way to save your lives if things go south. The trade-off to doing this rather than surrendering or losing naturally is that you do not get a free card.

2. Place your biz cards ASAP.
Biz has the most priority at the beginning of any match. If you're not playing your business cards first then you are not playing this game correctly. You want to ramp your cash intake right off the bat. By the time you get to $$$ enemies, they will be consecutively stacking biz cards or covering the board at the first chance they get. If you choose to place henchman before biz then understand that you are increasing the amount of turns it would take for your money to ramp up.

3. Biz card passive effects do not stack, however active effects repeat when stacking biz cards.
When you place a biz card on top of another the dollar amount from the business earned will stack. Your biz will aso gain more armor. Unfortunately the card's effect or description does not always stack. For example placing a second Harbor Depot on another will not double the $50 per card in your hand to $100 per card in your hand. If you want to double the effect of a passive biz card like Harbor, you would need to give the second it's own street instead of stacking. Some biz cards such as the Main Office have active effects and will repeat their one time action effects when played on top of each other. So if you stacked three Main Offices, you would draw three cards.

4. Just like real life, don't abuse credit.
After you deck-out you are given free grey cards that give you free cash or more cash for every henchman and so forth. Not all of these cards are "free". If you haven't noticed, a cash advance accelerates your debt. Don't just mindlessly play these because it's a 0 cost card in your hand. You may not feel the debt in the moment but will when you're 90% of the limit in a match later on.

5. Grey action cards sold in the shop are permanently kept in your deck
These will not disappear forever unless they have "destroy" in the card description.

6. The AI will wait for you place to your henchman before it sends out their own, spread your henchman out.
Don't go crazy popping off all of your henchman in one turn. If you drop your hand's two strongest bruisers onto a street protecting your biz then the AI will see that as an opportunity to drop Rat Thieves on lanes your henchman can't reach. Moments like these can lead up you to potentially losing 500+ cash a turn.

7.Don't battle lenders
They increase your likelihood of a campaign loss more than any other enemy because of their debt gimmick. It's just not worth the headache.

8. Saving for the shop and only doing fights, events and trades pays off in the long run
Note: Decks that can maintain low debt such as the Suits really only have to do fights and events for optimal cash intake. Below is a Suits deck that rolled a $4000 check event in the first round of the game.

I didn't go to the shop until right before the first year boss Condo King. I feel that most players would prefer to get there a bit earlier. Ideally you should you have 10,000+ cash before visiting a shop if you want to grab everything you need and leave feeling satisfied. I would only break this rule if you desperately need to avoid battling a Lender or really need more cards.

9. Not all deck types are made equal
Some are just way better than others, you have to experiment.

10. Losing is a natural process
It may take you a while to unlock some cards and other deck types before you are able to beat even Year 1. If you have been playing this game long enough, and even took the time to read all of this, then I hope you understand that you're getting better from your practice and studying. You're still gonna lose alot.

The first 8000 point pigeon has 6 construction cards, 2 Ladies, 2 Thieves, 2 5-point damage cards for destroying buildings, and 3 Noble smugglers!

How many times have you beaten the suit yourself, you bastard?!

5 years later, you losers still don't have the balance right - 5 years!!

Incredible. Is this a game or is it torture?

Unlock cards?

How long will it take to unlock the full kit?

Or is there some special opening extras that I haven't noticed?
