PvZ: The Limbo Page
By Okami Tomato
So ever since learning about it, the Limbo Page has intrigued me. A collection of mostly-complete, functional levels left in the code, all laid out on a special screen just 1 line of code away from being visible to everyone sounds great.

So, I took the time out to complete all* of the Limbo Page's winnable mini-games, and this page will be about them and what to expect when playing.

And here's my findings:

[The Limbo Page]
The Limbo Page is a collection of unused mini-games left in the code by developers for anyone with a cheating device to access. The means to do so are listed on the Plants vs Zombies wiki and will likely require Cheat Engine to perform.

There are technically only 11 mini-games on this page, but a total of 15 levels when including the 4 unused variants of the Survival: Endless stage. Because they cannot be completed (due to being, well, Endless) they are exempt from my guide and thus I will only be looking at the 11 mini-games the player can actually complete:

X: Ice Level, Zen Garden and Tree of Wisdom either cannot be completed without index editing, crash the game, or just take you to the Tree of Wisdom respectively. There is nothing to complete.
?: Intro and Upsell are cutscenes, and thus cannot properly be completed either.
O: The Survival: Endless levels are mentioned above and can be played, but are endless.

Furthermore, Bungee Blitz is the same as 5-5 and thus is the only mini-game here than can be played without cheating. Dark Stormy Night isn't the same as 4-10, however, instead just sharing its gimmick.
[Notes]
I will be judging these mini-games based on difficulty and giving any additional pointers to assist in their completion.

Difficulty will be judged based on how many strategies will likely work when trying to complete the stage, as well as the gimmicks involved. Difficulty will be increased based on strategies rendered ineffective, micromanagement, and if the player may need to rely on Lawnmowers, Pool Cleaners or Roof Cleaners for a proper chance at survival.

Please note I also went into all of these mini-games completely blind with only a minimal description of what I needed to do, so there are likely better strategies out there than those I'm presenting.
Art Challenge Wall-nut
Difficulty: Medium
Unique Goal: Place Wall-nuts in all marked tiles

Attributes:
-Certain tiles reserved for Wall-nuts
-Mini-game is endless until all Wall-nuts are placed

Bugs:
-There are 2 tiles inside the Wall-nut shape that cannot be placed in; top-left and top-right. These are not indicated to the player and instead just disallow plants to be placed on them.

My Strategy:
The level is moreso about preparing for the long-haul, since the Wall-nut recharge time means the level will take a fairly long time no matter how quick you are at placing plants. Furthermore, due to the spaces taken up by Wall-nuts in the top and bottom rows, those rows will automatically end up less protected than the upper and lower rows

Melon Pults work well here, since the level will take long enough to save up enough sun for them. Furthermore, Winter Melons slow zombies and so even if the level lasts long enough for larger waves to arrive, the player can still save the frontmost Wall-nuts by slowing zombies on the approach.

Speaking of the Wall-nuts it is best to place them starting from the front and working back, using them as extra defence. Wall-nuts have decent health so even when the level ramps up a little they should be fine for a while.

As said before, the main issue is just the time it takes for Wall-nuts to recharge, moreso than the zombies, so any long-term planning will make the mini-game easy enough to beat.
Sunny Day
Difficulty: Easy

Attributes:
+Sun falling from the sky is larger and gives +50 Sun as opposed to just +25

My Strategy:
This level is not too different from a more standard PvZ level. While Football and Jack-In-The-Box Zombies do appear, the player will likely have plenty of sun for defences, and plenty of time to prepare due to the mini-game having 4 waves.

Magnet-Shrooms may be one of the best plants for this; severely handicapping Bucket Head, Football, and Jack-In-The-Box Zombies and essentially making the mini-game rather trivial when a row of Magnet Shrooms are set-up.

Aside from the Shrooms, standard defences will work here since there aren't any threatening Zombies in this mini-game not vulnerable to the Magnet-Shrooms' effects.
Unsodded
Difficulty: Hard

Attributes:
-1st and 5th lanes lack soil and cannot be planted on
-Zombies can still appear in and move down the 1st and 5th lanes

My Strategy:
The first of 2 mini-games here that I would genuinely say was difficult to a degree, Unsodded's gimmick is simple but heavily alters what sort of plants the players should pick.

The player should pick plants that can hit multiple lanes, such as Gloom Shrooms, Cob Cannons, Threepeaters and Starfruit, otherwise zombies on the outer rows will likely be able to pass by unscathed and cause the player to lose.

The best way is probably using Garlic and Gloom Shrooms and using the 'Gloomwalk' strategy as there are no zombies in this level that can crush plants, however I decided to use Cob Cannons because I thought it'd be more interesting with the limited time I have to set them up.

Overall I used 2 Threepeaters on the 2nd and 4th rows to deal with lone zombies and saved the Cob Cannons for larger groups or giant waves. A strategy that turned out well in the end.

Big Time
Difficulty: Very Easy

Attributes:
+Sunflowers are larger and produce 2 sun at a time
+Marigolds are larger and produce 2 coins at a time
+Wall-nuts are larger and have increased health

My Strategy:
This may be the easiest of the mini-games on the limbo page. Sunflowers are all as strong as Twin Sunflowers at no extra cost or recharge time, Wall-nuts are tankier for no extra sun and Marigolds are twice as good at coin farming.

This level is very similar to Sunny Day, having 4 waves and the same zombie types, meaning Magnet Shrooms once again make this level trivial by removing the abilities of the actual threatening zombies.

In fact, I came back to this level to see how effective a money farm would be. I amassed ~$10,000 with a basic farm that wasn't even fully-optimised. Not sure what you can do with this info, but I thought I'd just add it in here as a side-note.

Art Challenge Sunflower
Difficulty: Easy
Unique Goal: Fill in the designated spaces with Starfruit, Wall-nuts and Umbrella Leaves

Attributes:
-Certain spaces are designated to only allow 1 plant type to be placed
-Level is only completed when all spaces are filled

My Strategy:
This level at first seemed a little awkward due to the sunflower art's placement being very close to the left side of the screen, where I normally set up. However, I came to learn that this mini-game was actually a lot easier.

As it turns out, if the player is quick enough, 1 row of sunflowers can be prepared and the mini-game can be beaten only using Potato Mines and the Starfruit for offense; winning the mini-game before stronger zombies have a chance to begin spawning.

Even if you're not fast enough for that Starfruit spam should provide you enough time for the other plants to be placed down, especially since aside from the Wall-nut they all have a fast recharge time.
Air Raid
Difficulty: Hard

Attributes:
-Most zombies are Balloon Zombies

My Strategy:
So, this level is why I specifically pointed out that difficulty is also increased by having to sacrifice lawnmowers and pool cleaners. The Balloon Zombies replace nearly every zombie in the level, with the only exceptions being the pool's ambush zombies and a couple of other random zombies during the 'huge waves'.

The player will need to sacrifice lawnmowers and cleaners to stop the first few Balloon Zombies. Trying to clear them with Blovers is a waste of sun due to how early they begin to arrive, so the player should instead begin trying to purchase a Cattail as soon as possible.

A single Cattail and some Puff Shrooms will carry a lot of the mini-game, but I'd recommend getting as many Cattails as possible. Cattails are the saving grace of the mini-game due to both being a multi-lane attacker and being able to target Balloons; making them more cost-efficient than any other plant in this mini-game.

It's probably possible to win without losing any lawnmowers or cleaners, but that'd be RNG-dependent and I'd rather not spend ages waiting for good RNG, so I'll accept losing a few.

High Gravity
Difficulty: Hard

Attributes:
-The level's gravity is increased, reducing the range of projectiles
+The high gravity will ground Balloon Zombies after 4-5 tiles

Bugs:
-Balloon Zombies will 'slide' downward even when grounded before suddenly returning to the middle of the lane. This will continue happening until they die.
-Cabbage, Lettuce and Melon Pults do not adjust their angles to compensate for the gravity, meaning they will almost always miss.

My Strategy:
Due to the gravity and the fact this is a roof level, most strategies won't work as intended here. The two main ideas I had thought of after my initial attempt were either Chomper spam or the Gloomwalk; the former because Chompers aren't affected by the level's gimmick nor are there any zombies with traits that would make them ineffective, and Gloomwalk because Gloom Shrooms' projectiles are short-ranged anyways and, once again, there aren't any zombies unaffected by Garlic... just watch out for the Balloon Zombies which will slowly descend over 4-5 tiles to make sure they don't evade the Garlic.

I did not know about the catapult bug on my initial attempt and had brought Melon Pults, thinking their 'reduced range' would simply mean I had to wait longer for them to hit things... but it turns out their range means they cannot hit any zombies not directly in front of them, meaning most of the level for me personally was Melon Pults in Pumpkins. I still won, but this strategy was super-ineffective.

My strategy in the end, as well as one of the 'sliding' Balloon Zombies
Grave Danger
Difficulty: Easy

Attributes:
-During both 'huge waves' zombies will spawn from active gravestones, not just the final wave
-Gravestones will appear periodically during the level

My Strategy:
Due to this being a night level, spamming Puff Shrooms proves to be a very effective strategy for this level as with basically every other night level in the game.

Grave Busters are also very useful. The graves take up many spaces and will continue appearing throughout, so using Grave Busters to destroy as many active graves as possible will both create more space and limit the amount of zombies spawning from them.

Aside from that, simple things like Scaredy Shrooms can be used due to their low cost and due to how few 'threatening' zombies seem to appear during this level.
Can You Dig It?
Difficulty: Easy

Attributes:
+Wall-nuts are placed on every available tile at the start of the level
-The conveyor will only provide the player with Peashooters

My Strategy:
The main decision in this level is how many rows of Wall-nuts will the player dig up. Digging up the Wall-nuts reduces defence, but increases offence, so the player has to find a balance. Ultimately, I decided upon 5.

After this point it's just a matter of watching the zombies slowly eat through your defence. Excess Peashooters provided by the conveyor can also be placed in front of rows where the Wall-nuts have already been weakened for the sake of additional defence.

Doing this, only one row of Wall-nuts was breached for me, and it was only breached at the tail-end of the final wave and thus was not an issue. Other Peashooter/Wall-nut combinations could be tried, though, and may still work fine.

Dark Stormy Night
Difficulty: Easy

Attributes:
-The screen is dark, aside from brief moments where lightning strikes

My Strategy:
This level is basically the original version of 4-10's gimmick, but with a different range of both plants and zombies that actually makes it easier than 4-10.

Honestly, being a conveyor, all the player really needs to do is plant a row of Cacti at the back for the Balloon Zombies, Puff-Shrooms near the front, Peashooters for the main defences along each row, and finally using the Lily Pads both for placing plants in the pool and for stalling Dolphin Zombies.

Aside from the Balloon and Dolphin Zombies this level isn't that bad honestly and was a lot better than I was expecting, especially compared to the usual bad RNG I always get for 4-10

Bungee Blitz
Difficulty: Medium

Attributes:
-Bungee Zombies will drop all the zombies present in the level

My Strategy:
Unlike Dark Stormy Night this level is actually identical to its in-game counterpart 5-5. All strategies from that level will work here as well, which mainly consists of the player being at the mercy of the conveyor's RNG.
[Final Notes]
And those are all the unique, complete-able mini-games present on the Limbo Page.

Like I said I haven't included the Survival: Endless variants for daytime, nighttime, fog and roof since most of the usual strategies for normal Endless runs will likely work for those as well, given a few mild tweaks, so they haven't been covered.

I also included some images to showcase some levels and some of the things I used for them, as well as a nice little gif I prepared for Dark Stormy Night since the screenshots weren't very exciting or ended up being taken just as the screen was becoming too dark to see again.

Thanks for taking a look at this page and I hope you enjoyed this weird little page about the usually-unseen content from PvZ.

Maybe I'll make more stuff for this game in the future, I don't know, but I'll see you then if I do :P

If you want to make this permanent, download any program with which you can edit and change the hex code of plants vs zombies (i used HxD), then open that program and open PlantsVsZombies.exe with it (make sure PvZ is closed), go to search, find, hex-values and search for 88 58 64 47 83 ff 04 0f8c after you're there, replace 88 58 64 with 90 90 90 and restart plants vs zombies, after you go to minigames, puzzles or survival you will see the limbo page at the bottom (it will also create a backup if you want to restore the old PvZ)
