# 1
Start a game. Open the game that you want to use with Cheat Engine. probably Timberborn!
# 2
Click the "Processes" icon. In the Cheat Engine window, click the computer-shaped icon in the top-left corner. This will open a pop-up window with your computer's current programs in it.
# 3
Select your game's process. Scroll through the list of processes until you find Timberborn
Click OK. It's at the bottom of the window. This will open the game in Cheat Engine.
# 4
Determine the item to change. In order for you to be able to change the value, the Items must Be in a Building (e.g log-pile)
# 5
Minimize the game window and click over to Cheat Engine. You'll need to pull up the Cheat Engine window while the game is minimized.

Click New Scan. It's at the top of Cheat Engine next to the panel on the left. Any time you want to scan for a new value, you need to click New Scan. Enter the item value you are looking for here!
# 6
Enter the value you want to change and click First scan

Return to your game and change the value. By waiting for the beavers!
# 7
Return to Cheat Engine and scan for the updated number value.

Repeat the search process until you have 2 or fewer values

Add them and then Change the number to a value you want.

# 10 Extra Info
there are THREE NUMBERS for resources - the amount IN A BUILDING, that building's TOTAL STORED ITEMS and the amount DISPLAYED AS YOUR TOTAL. Changing/locking the first alters your available resources/items, changing/locking the second only changes whether a building thinks it can have items added to it or not, and the third only changes your current display until you add or remove ANY amount of ANY materials to your stockpile.

If you change the item count to higher than the storage fill count, beavers removing items will cause the storage count to go to -1 and instantly crash your game! If you change a storage item to have extra things in it, either set the storage total fill or lock it to an amount that matches the amount of items you put into it.

Thank you Xavius for the invaluable information for the readers!

I need this for The herbalist, the .ct file that is running around is just a false table to make you go to the cheatmods or something like that to buy the pro version. So stupid.

BOOO! why even use that software? it is blocked by most security software. USE THE BUILT IN DEV TOOLS INSTEAD! just press Alt+Z to activate the mode. it will even give you very limited map editing abilities

things you can do with the dev tools:

commit mass beavercide
assasinate a single beaver
change water flow rates.
edit, boost or freeze beaver stats
add science points x1000
cycle time of day (7 key)
cycle through drought and bad water events (good for bypassing them iif you run into trouble for some reason) (8 key)
spawn beavers
spawn beaver-bots
AND MORE!

Simple: find your save folder, re-name an appropriate save file to have a .zip extension, extract. Edit the file produced (lint/pretty-print it to make it readable if desired), save, and re-zip it. Then change the extension back.

Done.

I primarily do this to boost science points immediately to very effectively sandbox my custom levels. Reference my captured screenshots for this game for examples of some of the things I build.

Ah, thank you lost.ninja, I was unaware of that.

Oh, additional feedback on the numerical alterations using CE: If you change the item count to higher than the storage fill count, beavers removing items will cause the storage count to go to -1 and instantly crash your game! If you change a storage item to have extra things in it, either set the storage total fill or lock it to an amount that matches the amount of items you put into it.

"Sometimes I want a sandbox " alota truth there. i just put this together so people who may not know can be informed. even if its at the lowest level.P.S CE can make the game fun but dont cheat everything or you might get bored ;)

There is also Dev Mode accessed by hitting shift+alt+z. I use both though.

To you, Jontover, the answer is "Sometimes I want a sandbox mode, and the devs haven't added it yet."
