General Tips
  • Use Iron/Lead Armor or better
  • Mobility is important, Hermes Boots and such are recommended
  • Get basic healing items like Lesser Healing Potions
  • Flaming weapons inflict "On Fire!", which can be useful
  • Arenas with at least 2 layers of platforms help with dodging charge attacks
  • Use Grappling Hook in Expert Mode for extra mobility
  • Campfires and Heart Lanterns provide better health regeneration
  • Sunflowers reduce enemy spawn rates and movement speed slightly
  • Food items buff multiple stats, very useful
  • Trap the nurse in a nearby house if you suck, so you can heal quickly
  • Use the mini-map to find where the EoC is
Item Recomendations
Melee Class:
  • Flails and Spears can provide range and multiple hits in one swing
  • Enchanted Boomerang or better is a fair option
  • Yoyos!
  • Silver/Tungsten Armor
    If possible:
    • Starfury
    • Enchanted Sword
    • Flaming Mace
    • Ninja Armor


Magic Class:
  • Topaz/Amethyst Staff
  • Vilethorn for multi-hit, but you'll need bombs
  • Wizard Set provides awesome buffs
  • At least 3 Crystals of Mana, any less and you're insane
    If possible:
    • Meteorite Gear, again you'll need bombs
    • Emerald/Sapphire Staff, though Amber & Ruby/Diamond are stronger but much rarer
    • Mana Regeneration Band, makes 1 Mana Crystal EoC actually somewhat enjoyable
    • Thunder Zapper is a good alternative to Gem Staffs

Ranged Class:
  • Flaming Arrows
  • Iron/Lead Bow
  • Musket/Undertaker, but yes you will need bombs
    If possible:
    • Frostburn Arrows
    • Silver/Tungsten Bow
    • Boomstick, but you need Dream RNG to get it this early

Summoner Class:
  • Finch Staff
  • Slime Staff
  • Leather Whip
  • Pygmy Necklace
    If possible:
    • Flinx Staff
    • Imp Staff
    • Snapthorn
    • Feral Claws
What if I still can't beat it?
Well here are some other options:
  • Get help from a friend, if you don't have one thats too bad
  • Perhaps a temporary change of class, maybe you'd do better with others
  • Try a different boss instead, Skeletron and Eater of Worlds might be easier for you
  • If you're really desperate, download one of those "All Item" worlds and get a Terra-blade or something

@Aceolas probably. That's definitely good enough gear. Build an arena with campfires and such, then fight it. It is normal to lose once or twice, but keep trying.

I'm going summoner, i've currently got pygmy necklace, stardust wings, stardust dragon staff, stardust cell staff, moon charm, werewolf charm thing, stardust armour, daybreak, but i don't have any friends to help me, do you think i can still do this fight?

if you need any item just use terrasavr. you can even get a hardmode item in pre hardmode if you want lol.

@DragonBreath_2009, in the first phase, the eyeballs it summons have a high droprate of hearts. Maybe you can use that to an advantage. Have you also placed down campfires? Its only a bunch of wood and torches. A larger arena with more layers of platforms also helps more than you think.

I have: tungsten helmet, wood armor, Hermes boots, enchanted boomerang, flaming mace, wand of sparking, slime staff. Player 2(chattonne) has: tungsten armor, katana, and other stuff i probably forgot. i had about a stack of healing potions and over 2 stacks of lesser healing potions, and a LOT of sunflowers(i like flowers). We have tried 2 times. they both resulted with chattonne and me fighting, me dying, chattonne dodging while i respawn, me drinking a healing potion and attacking, process repeating 2-3 times, and chattone dying while im waiting to respawn.
