Story Achievements
While it is technically possible to complete Myst without triggering them, these Achievements are expected to be completed when playing through Myst in the normal manner.
Consult a game walkthrough for more detail on completing these tasks.

Safecracker
Description: Opened the safe in the cabin.

Can Opener
Description: Solved the gear puzzle inside of the clocktower.

Salvager
Description: Raised the sunken ship.

Stargazer
Description: Viewed some dated constellations.

Journeyman Electrician
Description: Solved the generator power puzzle.

Channelwood
Description: Found a way back from Channelwood

Mechanical
Description: Found a way back from Mechanical.

Beacon
Description: Solved the compass puzzle.

Stoneship
Description: Found a way back from Stoneship.

Selenitic
Description: Found a way back from Selenitic.

Inside
Description: Found the white page.

Firecracker
Description: Solved the fireplace puzzle.

Ending Achievements
These Achievements are obtained by triggering various endings to Myst.

Everything Is In Its Place
Description: Achieved the good ending.
Conditions: Link to D'ni while possessing the white page.

D'ni
Description: Returned to Myst Island from D'ni.
Conditions: Achieve the good ending, then return using the Myst linking book.

Know-It-All
Description: Achieved the good ending without inserting a single red or blue page.
Conditions: Most easily obtained using a Classic playthrough since puzzle solutions do not change, and all but guaranteed if attempting the Speedy Achievement. Start a new playthrough, and using knowledge from a completed game, obtain the white page from the docks, enter the fireplace code, and link to D'ni.

Roommates
Description: Achieved the bad ending with Atrus.
Conditions: Link to D'ni without having obtained the white page.

You Fool!
Description: Achieved bad ending with Sirrus.
Conditions: Insert all 6 red pages into the red book, freeing Sirrus.

I'm Free!
Description: Achieved bad ending with Achenar.
Conditions: Insert all 6 blue pages into the blue book, freeing Achenar.

After All of That Effort...
Description: Achieved one of the brothers' endings while on a randomized playthrough.

Other Achievements

He Is Preparing
Description: Found Sirrus' message to Achenar.
Conditions: In Achenar's bedroom in Channelwood, push the far-right button on the holographic display device to view the message from Sirrus.

Top Of The World
Description: Rode the tree to the highest position.
Conditions: Get in the tree elevator (treelevator?) near the cabin on the main island as it is rising and let it go all the way up. This may be most easily accomplished once you've reached the bottom. There is a wheel beside the elevator you can turn, then quickly get inside to begin riding it back up.

Perfect Pitch
Description: Solved the piano puzzle in a single try.
Conditions: Have all the notes correctly set in the Rocketship the first time you slide the lever.
I recommend saving your game before sliding the lever to confirm your solution to the puzzle, so you can reload if your solution wasn't correct. Either carefully match the tones, or simply count by keeping in mind that the notches on the left and right of the sliders correspond to white and black keys on the keyboard, respectively, with the bottom corresponding to the left (low) side of the keyboard.

It's Bob!
Description: Found the skeleton in the Mechanical Age.
Conditions: With the Fortress in the Mechanical Age rotated so that the bridge points to nothing, a skeleton can be seen through the telescope in Sirrus' bedroom. That's Bob!
More than one commenter has reported it is necessary to look for Bob before collecting the Mechanical Age's Red or Blue pages in order for the achievement to trigger.

Never Lost
Description: Made it through the maze in Selenitic without pressing "backtrack" on a randomized playthrough.
Conditions: The tones tell you which direction to go.
Unconfirmed, but it appears the tones may the same as in a Classic playthrough, and only the sequence of the path changes.
Ding: North
Rattle: West
Clonk: South
Pssht: East
Also, you may be able to backtrack without losing the Achievement by turning all the way around and only using the forward control, as long as you don't pull the joystick back into the "backtrack" position.

Stack Overflow
Description: Fill up all of the shelf space for a page type.
Conditions: Obtain all 6 pages for one of the brothers and place them all onto their shelf WITHOUT actually putting any of them into the corresponding book. On a Classic playthrough, you can collect all the pages from the Ages and use the known fireplace code to acquire the 6th. Alternatively, you can insert 5 pages into the book of one brother to learn the page number of the fireplace code without inserting any pages into the book of the other brother.

Speedy
Description: Achieved the good ending within two minutes
NOTE: The Speedy Achievement was broken until Patch 8 (released October 7th, 2022) but should now be attainable.
Conditions: Start a New Game and select Classic, since the puzzle solutions do not change. You must: turn on all the marker switches, one of which requires setting the clocktower time to 2:40 to raise the path to its marker switch, then turn off the marker switch on the docks to obtain the white page. Then you must enter the fireplace, quickly enter the fireplace code, and link into D'ni using the green book. The timer starts the moment you gain control of your character on the dock. The Achievement should unlock as soon as you've linked into D'ni. It is possible to unlock the achievement using free movement in VR, provided you quickly activate running speed at the start.
Rime Achievements

Note: Rime Achievements were not unlocking correctly until v3.0.4, released April 17th, 2025. Some achievements may unlock immediately upon loading a save where the conditions have been met.

Linking to Rime without completing the main game:
If necessary for achievement purposes, it appears you can link to Rime without first bringing the white page to Atrus in D'ni. However, you will not have Atrus' Rime Journal with the instructions and code for accessing the Rime linking book.
In a Classic (non-randomized) playthrough, the instructions are as follows:
- Set the Imager downstairs from the docks to 40 and activate it
- Press the button on the back of the Imager to reveal a "zig-zag" panel at the Imager controls
- Rotate the dial on the zig-zag panel to point its open edge at the short arm to the right
- Go to the back side of the path to the rocket and enter the now-revealed hidden passage
- Enter the code 2735 on the control panel to reveal the Rime linking book pedestal, and flip open the top to reveal the Rime linking book

One More Page To Turn
Description: Arrive on Rime.
Conditions: Achieved by linking to Rime.

Safety Violation
Description: Accidentally gas yourself.
Conditions: Once in Rime, start the generator and open the valve on the pipe running to the hut.
Enter the hut and close the doors. You should hear gas hissing. Do NOT click the starter on the stove. Wait for approximately 30 seconds until you begin to experience the effects of the gas.

Lights In The Sky
Description: Trigger the aurora in the skies of Rime.
Conditions: After riding the elevator up, pull the lever next to the frequency spectrum control to trigger the aurora.

The Fate Of The Fifth Age
Description: Discover the secrets of the Rime Age.
Conditions: In the Rime Imager, view the projection for Riven (the "fifth Age" created by Gehn, as described in the game Riven).

Another way to get Stack Overflow on a Randomized game: The correct pattern is always number 158 in the partly-burned book. So you can flip to that page and find the pattern to duplicate in the fireplace, without inserting any red or blue pages. (Unfortunately, that means clicking the next page many times. You can't hold down the mouse button to flip 10 at a time like in the original!)

Thanks, Miles07!

"It is not yet known if the combined frequency must match the "ideal value" from Atrus' journal for the achievement to trigger."

Can confirm, it doesn't need to match. Any color combination will do; just throw the switch and the achievement will pop up. (At least it did for me.)

The Rime Achievements are now working as of v3.0.4, released today, April 17th, 2025.
For me, One More Page To Turn and Lights In The Sky popped immediately upon loading my existing save, but I needed to repeat the actions for The Fate Of The Fifth Age and Safety Violation.

Good suggestion, especially since people might find it useful to know they're not working!

You should update this guide for tnew achievements that are Rime-Age related (I think that there are not working properly yet).

Thanks for the tip, Big Wooper!

I want to clarify that I got the It's Bob achievement on a randomized game.
CYB3R5KU11 24 Dec, 2023 @ 7:31pm
idk if its because my game bugged or what but when I tried to get its bob (I did NOT yet pick up any pages at all as I was going for the stack overflow and after all that effort achievements) it didnt work, when I finished and went back through on classic 1993 it then worked, so I think you MUST be on classic 1993 to get its bob and not a randomized game

Speedy took me four tries; I would trigger the clocktower bridge to start raising then grab the last switch (by the treelevator) while it was coming up to leverage a couple of spare seconds that would otherwise be spent standing around.
