I just left a negative review of this otherwise fun game because of the motivation-assassinating way the game deletes your save right after the final boss.

What the game really should tell you

After defeating level-30-boss, touching the center orb again deletes your entire save and all your saved coins. This locks you out from unlocking the end-game gear which is absolutely ridiculous!

I hacked my way through the entire faaking game with starter gear hoping to buy/unlock all the top tier items in sandbox/Training. Now I have absolutely nothing unlocked and the insulting feeling of having wasted all that time for every gold coin in the game to get deleted.
I actually felt SICK after getting kicked to the main menu with no way to continue and buy the final gear.

To keep this from happening to others, I have made this brief guide. I hope it saves you from losing literally every gold coin in the game, because that is a very upsetting "reward".

@DecompresS You should also leave a negative review to warn others of the unfair surprise.
It is sickeningly frustrating. At the very least, there should be a warning message that prompts the player to go ahead and spend all their gold.
There just needs to be a simple "spend your gold now, you can't take it with you" message prior to the normal-difficultly ending and all the frustration could be avoided.
Deleting a player's save file without any warning is a terrible design decision!

@Shiva I did hardcore and touched the orb and I got back to the lobby area where you can change your gear. I touched it in that area and was given the credits scene, but I could go back via the game menu still. Sounds like a bug on your end

Ken, you had fun with it because you actually got to spend it. I never got to spend any of it because I was saving up. The game should should give the player a chance to unlock what they have enough coins to buy prior to deleting everything (without warning) instead of blind siding the player and kicking them to the main menu with nothing to show for it.
That is the whole point of me posting this, it is a warning that should have been in the game in the first place. Next time read the actual post before commenting.

I understand that Ken, it does not change the fact that I was unable to buy any of the equipment that is available for use in sandbox because all of the gold coins were deleted without warning, which is just bad form.
I should have been able to keep my coins and buy the non-hardcore-only weapons without having to do so prior to the final boss. Even if they want to delete my remaining coins, there should be a point-of-no-return warning prior to the save-deleting cut-scene so I can spend my hard-earned loot on what is available.

It is a rogue style unlock system. You keep everything you unlock on whatever profile you are playing on. You can't access the Heavy Plate Armor, X-Shield or Flamberge in standard mode. They only become available for purchase in Hardcore.... and even then you gotta get pretty deep into it....
I really didn't have any trouble... but.... if you are... here is a tip.... when you die in hardcore mode you keep whatever armor and weapons you are wearing....so even tho your progression thru the levels is reset you can start with high level gear so you won't need to buy anything at all throughout the run. It is possible to save up enough to buy all the "leet" gear in one run that way....
The HPA is 90k and the Flamberge is 39k.... I don't remember how much the X-Shield cost....
