Ascension allows you to sacrifice all of your cookies baked this run for heavenly chips and prestige levels, the former of which can be used to purchase permanent heavenly upgrades, while the latter boosts your production directly through a series of normal upgrades. Ascension is flexible in that you can choose when you want to ascend, but some times are better than others; ascending for the first time with a very small amount of chips, such as 1, is never recommended - the minimum for your first ascension should be at least 365. The first ascend will usually take the longest out of them all, but it is well worth the wait.

This guide provides you an ascension path to use, and know that your ascension count may not match up with the one in the guide - this is okay, if you want to combine some ascends together or split them into more ascends.

Past here, aim to double your prestige per ascend if you still wish to bother playing, there's still more 'cookies baked in one ascension' achievements to do.

Past 49,120,839,924,463,519 PL, it's a good idea to pause your progression and tackle some other achievements you might be needing, some of which are included below. Aim to at least double your prestige level from here on out per ascend.

There are also achievements related to ascension, some directly, some indirectly:

• Cookies baked this ascend: they range from 1 cookie to 1e+69 (1 duovigintillion) cookies baked this ascend, and are awarded nearly immediately, you do not need to ascend to get these achievements, but if you ascend, your progress on these achievements will be reset. The final ones in the series will require you continue to raise your prestige level, way past 49.1 quadrillion.
  
• Ascension count: there are achievements for ascending 1 time, 10 times, 100 times, and 1000 times, with the last one being a shadow achievement. However, as an implemented feature to avoid abuse, ascensions must be for at least 1 prestige level to count; you can still ascend without a prestige level, it just won't count. It's easiest to go for 100 and 1000 ascends between late millions and mid trillions of prestige levels, as doing it too early and too late will be significantly more time consuming.
  
• Cookies sacrificed by ascending: they range from 1 million to 1e+54 (1 septendecillion) cookies sacrificed by ascending, and you only need to ascend with at least the specified amount to earn the achievement upon reincarnating.

Lucky Digit, Lucky Number, and Lucky Payout are secret heavenly upgrades that only appear when a certain condition is met during that ascension, and you may have to do some calculations to be able to get them. These 3 upgrades require you have at least 1 7 in your prestige level for Lucky Digit, 2 7's for Lucky Number, and 4 7's for Lucky Payout on that ascend, respectively, in order for them to become visible. If you buy them on that ascend, they will remain visible and effective permanently, but if you do not buy them due to lack of chips or some other reason, or if you fail to have at least the necessary number of 7's, they will not appear on that ascend, even if you made it eligible for purchase previously.

The "total" prestige level discussed is your current prestige level, plus however many prestige levels you would gain upon ascending; it is NOT solely how much you would gain upon ascending.

You may wish to add your current prestige level and how much you will get upon ascending, then find number close by that has (at least) the minimum number of 7's you will need.

Some tips for hitting the exact prestige you need

• Sell buildings when you get close. This slows down your production, and thus slows down the rate of gaining prestige levels.
  
• If you are not confident of being able to ascend at the right moment while the bar is still moving, you can sell all of your buildings when you're right there, as cookies gained from selling buildings does not affect prestige gain.
  
• These upgrades are not a one-shot deal; if you miss by ascending too early or late, or miscalculated, you can always try again next ascend.

Building biscuits are the upgrades you unlock for having at least 100 to 500 of every building, are rectangular, and are the "butter biscuits" that add 10% to cookie production multiplier.

There are two kinds of unshackled upgrades, one for buildings and one for tiers; unshackling a tier allows for their (tiered) upgrades to have a larger benefit, but ONLY with unshackled buildings (except cursors); the bonus varies by building, and there's one of each heavenly upgrade for each building, and one for each upgrade tier.

I am new to writing Steam guides, so if something just doesn't seem right with appearance/formatting (excluding if there are any sections clearly marked as in-progress), something's clearly missing like a heavenly upgrade, or there's some other error or inaccurate information, feel free to shoot me a message on Steam or on Discord (Finnquaza#1111). This guide, along with the Pastebin guides, should be updated within a few days of any new update where changes may be needed so if there's an update, please wait a few days before complaining to me that they're not up to date yet.
