The ice section of the game adds in quite the tricky thing, adding in slipping, sliding and those ice spikes you have to weave your way through, makes things a little weird doesn't it?

The Solution

Just... use fire

The flamethrower weapon not only can thaw out the frozen ground but can also melt the frozen spikes on the ground, allowing you safe and easy passage through some of the tougher designed areas

Just as a minor add on, in the event that you don't have the flamethrower and you still need to get moving it turns out hitting both left and right or down and up at the same time allows you to move left or up at max speed as though you weren't on ice. But only straight up or left.

I learned it by accident too. There is other thing the flame can helps like the blue rocks of the water dam areas!
