So here's a caffeine-induced - virgin attempt at sharing my first 20 levels of experience with all new aspiring chatventurers!
Note: THIS IS BY NO MEANS A COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE. JUST MY ADVICE FOR NEW PLAYERS. AND OF COURSE

Introduction: After the "Dream"
Here are a few things you can do! (Will update as I go)

a. Get your bearings with how the game works.
It's a text-based adventure after all!
- type "look" to get an immediate description of what's currently around you (might be affected by perspective stat?).
- type "talk <npc name>" to initiate a dialogue with the named npc / also serves as a way to start/finish quest.
- type "check <item/npc/monster name>" to get a short description of the named object. Note: always use on some highlighted objects for a chance to get items!
- type "go to <place name>" to enter a new 'map' chatroom.
- type "ask <npc name> <action>" to initiate a conversation with npc about something specific. i.e. "ask eli stock" to get eli to show you his wares, and "ask eli stick" to get eli to show you his 'stick', heh.

Use the above commands, and try them all on the npcs around smalltown! (*geass activates* <player character name> commands you...)

b. Quests, quests, quests!
After finally comprehending basic vocabulary and grammar, you're now ready to play!
Here's one example of what I did when I first started!
- type "talk arra" to get your very first quest! She'll want some tasty mushrooms (singular) from a secret cave in the thicket. (You'll need 11 perspective in order to find the cave, so go punch some gremlins till you level up)
- type "go to thicket" and here's your first taste of combat! You'll have to be meticulous, you'll be prone to typos, but once you get the hang of it, it's fun!
- type "punch <enemy's name>" to begin throwing hands at those gremlins for a measly 5 dmg/hit! There will be more commands/attacks/skills/spells once you begin leveling up, trust me!
- type "pick up <item name>" to pick up drops/items, you can see what items are on the ground when you "look" or "check".

At the Thicket, you'll fight a bunch of gremlins, so start punching them, and pick up bark and whatever those gremlins drop. You'll need those barks for a super strong weapon called the 'stick'. But after a few minutess of punching gremlins, you'll...

c. LEVEL UP!
Congratulations on the level. 1 down, 98 to go!
You're done being mollycoddled in smalltown, you're a big boy (figuratively speaking) now! Time to build yourself to a 'job'.
- at the top-left corner of your screen, you'll see your stat box. With every level, you'll earn 3 points to add into your stats.
- think about what weapon/role you'll want to be playing. If u want to dynasty warriors your way to endgame you might want to add, say, STR + DEF + CON. Or if you want RP cardcaptor sakura, you can go into ~MAGIC~, INT + DEX + AGI.

BTW, you'll need at least 11 perspective for the cave mushroom and assistant quest, AND don't neglect DEX, as I think it universally affects your chance to hit (yes, that includes magic for some reason...)

c.1. !OPTIONAL! (For those who want to go into MAGIC)
Now this one's a little tough for the first 10 or so levels, as you can only begin casting magic once you get your first wand.
- When leveling up, dump your points into INT first, DEX second, and maybe even AGI (for survivability, at least until you build your first wooden shield for the most OP skill "block")
- Buy the stick from eli and start whacking mobs, you'll get by without adding any STR.
- Finish up some of the basic quests in smalltown, farm, etc, before heading over to the Central Plains.
- By now you should be lvl 6-10, rush your way over to "bigtown", it's east plains > central plains > west plains > bigtown west gate
- Go to bigtown east gate and talk to lucy to buy... (drum roll please) a simple wand!

Playing a mage in this game's pretty tough, as you'll have to learn when to block (with your shield equipped), when to cast long magic commands, and when to consume a heck ton of milk! FYI, at bigtown, you can unlock the 'Cleric' commands when completing the altruism quest in the holy temple.

d. JUST A HANDFUL OF TIPS (Will update as I go)
What happens next, is up to you. Go, chatventurers! The world is an open book!
But before I wrap this up I've got some points to make

- PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS PURE, DON'T START THE WEREBEAR QUEST EARLY
- The werebear quest will spawn a lvl 65 boss at the entrance of the forest (the place after north plains) that will likely blow ur head off in 1 hit. God knows why there was such a game-breaking quest in the beginning. SO!!! Talk to everyone early on, EXCEPT for the huntress lady in the old cottage near the forest... Don't... don't "talk" to her, she's the werebear quest giver. As long as you don't talk to her, the werebear won't spawn. God...

- You can check your active quests by typing "check quest", and checking the progress of individual quest by typing "check <name of quest>"

- "Ask" shop npcs for the price of individual items early on, to make sure you're always selling the item at the highest possible price. i.e. "ask bella softwood" and "ask eli softwood" and check the difference in selling/buying price.

- ALWAYS, and I mean ALWAYS "check" old crates and barrels, as they might drop free items!

- Your health/mana heals over time when you're not doing any actions. So, rest up!

- No mobs spawning in an area? Just keep typing "look", to spawn them!

- You're going to be dying... like a lot. So a rule of thumb, never keep more than 100 gold on yourself, and only sell for gold when you need to craft something!

OKIE DOKIE. I THINK THAT'S ABOUT EVERYTHING I KNOW SO FAR.
Chatventures is a lovely yet mind-numbingly addictive game, I do hope to see more players in game soon! And if you're a veteran player or someone who wants to add on to my little list of tips, please do! Ciao~

Is there anything to repeat previous command? or scroll through prior text in current room or otherwise?

@ShanKitsune If I'm not mistaken, the seller in BigTown should have some good gear. But I do recommend you to not skip your gear, as the difficulty for mobs scale quite high after BigTown
