The Basics
To commit war crimes we must understand what is a war crime. For a long explanation review these 2 great resources from the UN and ICRC

In a nutshell, if it is treating a human in an unethical or inhumane way, then its a war crime.
Tier 1 - Humane?
Possibly the most tame out of all of these, this tier involves crimes that may not be war crimes such as a quick shot to the head. Stuff like a dark room with a poor meal every 12 hours or deporting prisoners to a desert
Tier 2 - The Beginning of The Worst
Now this is where we become depraved and there is no going back. Most people have done one of these or didn't even know that they were a war crime
  • Use of IEDs - They could harm a small child or in the case of a Rimworld, a traveler.
  • Use of Mercenaries - There are some concerns that mercs may not follow the rule of war however this is a disputed issue, so Interpret as you will
  • Use of poisonous,toxic,radiological, or biological weapons - Possibly the third most committed war crime in Rimworld.
  • Torture - Sometimes you want to get revenge for your lvl 20 super soldier that got killed by an arrow
  • Great injury and suffering to body and health - Did you just shoot at his ♥♥♥♥? That's just mean.
  • Firing upon a clear insignia of a combat medic - AI doesn't care so why should I?
Tier 3 - No going back
From here on forward, examples and situations will be given instead of a bulleted list showing laws

Torture and experimentation
This basically means that if you have ever harvested, removed, or done any operation on a prisoner just for torture, leveling your doctors, or testing some weird modification then its a war crimes. {Bonus points if you do all 3.)


Extreme damage
Have you ever used a anti grain shell on a group of people and ended up with a bunch of people with limbs torn off or how about using white phosphorus on a group of near naked tribals? Well so have I, although not as bad as the above example, just imagine yourself in the eyes of one of the tribals.
Tier 4 - Absolutely disgusting
Harvesting
Possibly the most memed war crime in the Rimworld community that requires no explanation however there is an order to harvesting correctly to get the most out of your prisoner. Just remember that heart and liver are last and skin can be used for furniture or clothing.


RJW - Light
Also known as the NSFW mod, sex mod, or anything that refers to sexually explicit content. You could enable some rather disturbing options or add some addons that makes your prisoner into a porn actor. You could also harvest their genitals to sell.
Tier 5 - Psychopath ♥♥♥♥
RJW - Heavy
You know what? Enable all of the disgusting options and modify your prisoners into sex machines. Let them suffer for your colonist, animals, guests, and other prisoners.


Torture, Experiment, Harvest.
T.E.A. a personal example that i use for the worst of my prisoners such as Clove the killer which killed 3 of my colonist and a few pets. Step 1: Heal them to full. This may sound weird but think about it, you want them to suffer but they can't suffer if they can't feel anything. Step 2: Inhumane conditions such as extreme temperatures, feeding them their own body or friends, or no tables to eat on. Step 3: Vivisect, inject weird drugs, test weapons, test their sanity, anything that can benefit you. Step 4: Harvest their organs, beginning with 1 lung or kidney and ending with liver or heart. Don't forget to butcher for skin!
Tier 666 - Literally the demon of suffering

Injure them with the worst weapons you have. Capture them. Turn them into sex machines to serve you and any other person that wants to. Give them false hope by releasing them and then arresting them. Turn them into walking abominations filled with an uncountable amount of drugs and modifications. feed them their own meat and fellow prisoners. Make their sleeping conditions into a living hell. Test weapons on them. Harvest their organs. And when they have died, revive them for further suffering, up to you if you want keep reviving them but once you let them finally rest, DO NOT FORGET TO MAKE THEM INTO FURNITURE AND CLOTHING
Tier ??? - The worst crime of them all

@Makoto You probably shouldn't play video games if you take things like this seriously. Maybe you need the shrink? Major difference between doing terrible things on a video game and real life.

lets you actually torture/brand/maim prisoners, as well as "interrogate" them for info and quests

The worst thing I've done? I had a pregnant woman raid me, I captured her, she gave birth in prison but I was afk letting my colony run for themselves while I was dumping a second titanic in my toilet. So long story short, the baby died, my pawns butchered it for meat and put the meat in the nutrient dispenser I have in my prison... you can imagine the rest...

I was such a comparatively nice person when I first started playing rimworld then I realized I could turn human meat into chemfuel... that was the start.

Some one claimed a wild animial ate a traveling groups child, so many things you can do with the new dlc. Alsos heard of pregnant raiders not sure if that is troll post or not lol. But imagine captureing pregant raiders then raising their kid(s) to late kill, and eat them... The lines just got way more screwed up...
