Embracing Nostalgia
By Data
You want to go back to that time where you sat in your bedroom playing Oblivion, right? Maybe you owned it on a factory fresh Xbox 360, or maybe a shiny new PS3... But those times are gone now. So how can we get you back there?

The Preparation
The game is installed, you've isolated yourself in your nostalgia chamber of choice, made it clear that nobody is to "ruin your journey back to Cyrodiil" and put up the map that came with your copy of the game (not essential but enhances the experience).

You are now ready to embrace the nostalgia.
The Nostalgia
Boot up the game, as it's loading close your eyes and remember where you used to play the game, find the feeling of that era that's been stored in your head for all those years...

The menu music will begin and just like that... You're back there.

As you bask in the nostalgia, letting the music take you back, you can keep your eyes closed and when you're ready to open them, go ahead, the game will be there waiting for you to make a goofy character all over again.
The Tears
As you sit upon your steed wearing its glorious armor... Try not to cry, it may stop you from seeing the game and it's ill-advised to ride a horse blind.

If you do feel the tears streaming down your cheeks however, it's ok, they're happy tears.

i personally say oblivion is better than skyrim but yeah skyrim is still a good game and its one of my favorite games

@Michael4C don't shit on Skyrim. every recent Elder Scrolls game, Morrowind, oblivion, skyrim, all are amazing games and we all had our favourites as kids.
however, all three are janky as fuck and have pretty severe flaws, but they're still amazing games. just because you have nostalgia of oblivion doesn't mean it was better than the other games. I have played around 50 hours of oblivion, its good, but its dated, and my kids will be saying the same about skyrim.
oblivion is still really good though, its fun and has cool little quirks that unfortunately aren't in skyrim, but that doesn't make skyrim inferior.

Skyrim is only inferior because Nazeem and Delphine exist.

There were mods on the Nexus. They were so cool to what my game could become. I didn't know anything about anything about computers except how to turn it on and some DOS stuff. I was going to make those mods work. I was a teacher so I spent a whole summer vacation learning to mod and use OBMM, Wrye Bash, BOSS, etc. I played with my world and over about a year, I have what I think is the perfect fantasy world. Also learned about some performance files and mods along the way. And so now I have the PERFECT finicky fantasy world to live in. I say finicky because it is still modded oblivion, sometimes I can play 2 hours straight with no problems and sometimes it is 30 minutes before a crash. But I have an autosave manager that saves before any loading screen, after combat and about every 10 minutes in between. BUT the BEST thing is my collection of EPIC Music I put in the game. Some of the best of TSFH, Hans Zimmer Audio Machine..etc.

I remember the first time I played this, it was on a crappy dell laptop on the lowest setting with no mouse. Good times.

This game got me through some rough times in my life. Thanks, OP, for reminding me why I love Oblivion so much to this day :cozybethesda:
