Getting started
To survive the winter you need not much tbh, things you need is something to keep you warm, My choice was Warming Thee. For food I choice Boiled Eggs comes in around 50% hunger bar. Now you gone hear your character complain a lot about wanting to drink but your broke so yeah... Let's get you started.

First thing you want to do is get your self an Axe ( for making firewood) and a Bucket (to put water in), but you need money. For that you need to look for Junk scattered around your farm to sell, just press “E” when prompt and you collect 5 Junk, collect 2 more for a total of 25 junk. (You may feel the urge to collect more but this puts you at your limit in weight.) Before moving on, Pickup the voka from there pantry in the house

Now travel to the Market Place (Press “M” for map to see where it is) and look for a vendor named Steve, Sell the Junk for 10 Coin a pop and now you got money to buy the stuff you need to get started. (Pro tip: Just north/West of the marketplace is alot of junk you can collect in a quick way)

Remember the Vodka? Give them (not sell it, to give just talk to him) To Philip, now your better friends with him try to buy the Feeder, trough and some fodder. With the chickens your food problem is solved.(if you need more money, just north of the market place is some more scrap to collect)

From there it just trying to keep your belly full and slowly buy more tools to help you in the direction of proper farming. Tanks, Abandoned houses and Bunkers hide some more loot. For tanks and bunkers you gone need a crowbar. Be careful when Exploring, there are wild animals around. To help you make some more money other then junk, might I suggest brewing Moonshine. I think that if you can survive your first winter your golden after that.
Brewing
Brewing seems to be the bread and butter in this game. To get started head over to the Thadeus Farm and find Helen, Accepting her quest will will unlock the potato Mash recipe. After that you need to buy the Distillery that cost you 1000 coin and some empty bottles.

Now to get started you need to get atlease a hand full of Potatoes, a hoe and a scythe. Remove some grass and use the other tool to till some soil, now plant the potatoes to make more.(Take note that the winter will destroy your crops and potatoes take 48 hours to grow or 2 months, so plant no later the September) When done its time to make some Mash out of it and then you can start brewing.

The distillery is gone need Mash,Water and Firewood, that and time, but the nice thing is you can leave it and come back later to fill them empty bottles. Each Bottle will sell for 80 coins.

  • Potato,Raspberry,Blueberry,Cider and Mead Mash is given by Helen after accepting and completing her quest
Free Bicycle
There is a free Bicycle that can be found north of the Marketplace, to get there follow the road over the bridge to the north till you come across the mine signs to the left of the road.

Warning!!! there are actual mines there that take ½ of your life if you step to close, you can see one of the mines on the Screenshot. Some what deeper in the woods you find a WWII Bunker and in front of it there is a free Bicycle.
Disarming Mines
It is possible to disarm a mine, to do this you need to align each bar so its on the outside of the green circle.

When you look at the Screenshot you notice there 6 of them to align, For easy understanding I gone put them in a clock format like 1 is at 12 o'clock, 2,4,6,8 and 10 o'clock. So to Align example shown I need to right click 12 two times, 2 is one time, 4 is one time, 6 is two times 8 is two times and 10 needs to be right clicked one time.

There is a time limit that starts after you start clicking, if you feel it's to hard for the time limit you can reset and get an other configuration by exiting “E” and going back in “F”. If you disarm in time you have a mine in your inventory, if not...Boooooom!!! 50% health less.
Cooking
Cooking can be done at the stove in your home, when you click on the stove you see the following...

You have a slot to input Water/Firewood, In the corner you have to option to start a fire/remove ash then you got 1 Prep station and 4 burners. Each burner can be adjusted with the +/-, This will affect preparation time. Some meals have a perfect setting that will reward you with extras. The list below will show these along with the hunger rate and ingredients needed. The fill rate of the hunger bar, It's not 100% accurate (i am just looking an trying to see how much of the hunger bar is going up)

Cigarette rolling
Before you can start rolling your tabaco in to cigarettes you need a crafting table, this can be bought from the lady at the farm north/east off you, Then rolling is simple by moving the mouse up/down while keeping the dot within the white line,

Important you control the ''dot'' not the ''line''!!! also if you are having trouble and have a dpi mouse? Try pressing the button on the mouse near the scroll wheel,

No not 2 month cycle, Grains take to long to sow more then 1 time per year, rest can be done 2 times a year. (grow season is between march-november) winter kills any crop
George C. Barnes 26 Jan @ 11:47pm
So you mean all the crops have the same 2 month cycle? Plant in January and harvest in March, etc.
What about flowers and trees? Do those have different growth cycles?
xent  [author] 26 Jan @ 11:15pm
There is not much to add, you got 2 months of room for planting and harvesting on grains all other can be planted/harvested 2 times a year if fast. Winter destoys all crops.
George C. Barnes 26 Jan @ 11:05pm
Could you please add more information about the crop cycle?
Eg. crop A takes X days to grow and must plant before Z month so it doesn't get destroyed by winter...
Thanks in advance!

for the Save Location you can just put
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\LocalLow\Freemindsa\FarmersLife\FarmersSaves

the %username% is the windows variable that auto fills as the logged in user

Stan's second quest awards you with the information about the location of a motorcycle. It requires fuel to run but it's somewhat faster than a bicycle and it has a space where you can store items up to 300 volume units.

Selling some of the crops, berries, mushrooms etc. to the state owned farm can actually get you a lot of money. One time I managed to get 1000 coins by selling 40 raspberries to them.

The ideal setting for Hunter's stew is 2.
