Cable Skidder

A skidder is a specialized piece of forestry equipment designed to drag felled logs out of a forest to a landing where they can be loaded onto trucks. A cable skidder accomplishes this by wrapping cable loops (called chokers) around logs and using a powerful winch to pull the logs closely behind the vehicle. Some cable skidders utilize a hydraulically powered tipping bed along with the winch to pick up one end of the logs and reduce resistance.
