Intro
ALRIGHT! Have you ever been coming up on that checkpoint and know you are just way to high to hit it? In these situations, normally just closing your wings still sends you careening past. You have to fly around till you get to the right position, and hopefully you are low enough to make a landing... I find myself in this situation quite a lot. After some marathon singleplayer and experimentation I have figured out a pretty good way of slowing down mid-air and causing one to virtually drop like a rock. Read on if you wish to find out how!

(As far as I know, no one else has come up with this yet and put it into writing, and if someone has then please let me know!)
How-To
So this "move" is pretty easy. To start off you are going to want to be positioned so you will hit the track in the first place (I talk more about this in the last section). I am using a keyboard, but this should be just as easy on a controller.

  • Let go of the spacebar (stop flying). You will have to wait for you car to completely fold back into its "normal" state. This only takes about second and gets you ready for the next step.

  • Now you are going to want to hit three keys at the same time: Spacebar - Up Arrow - Right Arrow. This completely eliminates any lift and turns the car opposite the normal turning direction. You will slide left a slight ammount but eventually fall straight down.

And thats it! Not too complicated at all. After trying it a few times you will be a pro. Your car should end up looking like the one in the picture above. Now for some reason this dosen't work with the left arrow, only the right... something to note XD
When To Use This
Now this brake is useless if you don't use it in the right places. From my experience, the best time to use this is right before the track, perhaps slightly farther back if you are very high up or going very fast. I can't really give you a definite "distance" here, but after you try it a few times you should get the hang of when to use this air brake. If you have a bit of track to spare, you can quickly stop flying then start again, just to be parallel with the track if you desire.

One word of caution, make sure you hit the track or have enough speed to do so. If you don't, it will be just about impossible for you to get any vertical height after. And then you will fail fall.
Conclusion
And that is all I got! I hope you found this guide to be useful. You'll be hitting those low checkpoints with style in no time!

@Crow Dood well yes "up" arrow, which will make you go "down" in the actual game. No back arrow though, and you have to use the right arrow as well. This should make more sense when you actually try it...

Thanks for the guide, need to try to practise this , is up and down arrow , accelerate+brake?
