Introduction to VSH:Data's Bosses
Our Touhou models are created in partnership with the Korean Touhou Hale community.

We trade resources which is why I have permission to use their models. They would prefer nobody steals their work.

Aaaand with that out of the way, on to the basics!

With over 8 years of development, Chdata's Versus Saxton Hale has a strong level of focus on good gameplay balance based on the original Versus Saxton Hale game mode.

Have you ever played VSH controlling a guided nuclear missile? How about stopping time and spawning danmaku knives everywhere?

Even the simplest changes are great - we made it so solo rage stunning mercenaries lasts shorter, because it's so much more fair that way.

We never re-use rage abilities and tend to avoid the lame FF2 copy-paste rages you see all the time.

All Bosses
Super Jump
Super Jump's sensitivity to holding and releasing charge has been improved on VSH:Data.
Charging super jump at the start of the round has a 5 second wait before you can use it.
Bosses have airblast immunity while super jumping.

Equalizer Effect
The lower a boss's health, the more run speed he gains, up to 410v

Anchor
Crouching on the ground for 1.5 seconds allows you to negate all knockback and airblast. It also gives you up to 3x damage based on how many seconds you've been anchored.

Most rages have had the radial stun removed!
Read up on what our new rages do, because very few of our bosses have the old rage stun!

Most rages have much fairer ways to dodge them than the usual "get stunned and hope the boss is terrible at meleeing".

Solo raging is nerfed.
—For the few bosses who still have rage stun— the stun length is shorter if you rage less players at once, making it easier to escape solo rage.
Saxton Hale
He's the most vanilla boss there is!

He's pretty much the same as he usually is in normal Versus Saxton Hale.

The Seeker
This boss has been temporarily disabled.

I see you...

An invincible shadow that is after everyone's souls.

He cannot be killed by any means. Being damaged by the map teleports him back to spawn.

The players must simply hide from him until time runs out.

Every kill the Seeker gets gives himself more time.

Both the players and the Seeker have their view covered in a dark fog that prevents anyone from seeing more than a few feet away.

The Seeker has a Soul Sensor which acts as a radar telling him how close the closest person to him is. It cannot detect height however, which can be used to confuse the Seeker.

When this version of Hale appears, it is known as a BOSS BRAWL BATTLE.

Every Saxton Hale round has a 1/10 chance of being a BOSS BRAWL BATTLE.

Saxton Lunge:
- Hale punches forward at a high speed, damaging and knocking back anyone in his way.

Saxton Slam:
- Hale does a small jump for momentum before smashing to the ground creating an earth rattling shockwave.

Saxton Berserk:
- Hale gains increased run speed and attacks with both of his fists so rapidly, his fists (and anyone they hit) catch fire.

The Spectre
Spectre has been restricted to setboss/store only.

The Spectre floats around like a ghost, and is fully resistant to knockback and airblast.

Holding crouch also makes you descend faster. (Holding jump and crouch will not work - let go of jump).

Instead of melee, the Spectre slings various types of slime.

His primary attack is Blast Slime.

His secondary attack is one of 4 other slimes which you can rotate through.

Switch slimes by pressing E (call medic) and R (+reload).

Here is the rotation order of slimes:
Toxic -> Tar -> Napalm -> Gunpowder ->

Toxic Slime:
Accumulatively becomes more damaging as people stay inside of it. Sort of like placing one's own death pit wherever they want.

Tar Slime:
Accumulatively slows down people walking through it. Also reduces jump power.

Napalm Slime:
The projectile itself does no damage, but it does ignite enemies for afterburn.

It can also be used to ignite Gunpowder Slime.

Blast Slime:
Explodes on contact with any surface.

Direct shots also stun the target shortly.

It can also be used to explode Gunpowder Slime.

Gunpowder Slime: (AKA Sticky Bomb Slime)
Throw small highly volatile patches of slime.

Explodes after 3 seconds if ignited by Napalm Slime. Base damage is 95 per patch.

Explodes instantly if hit by Blast Slime. Base damage is 40 per patch.

Her rage respawns all dead players as her own puppet dolls to attack the mercenaries.

Don't mistake the red/blu dolls as being on your team - the red one is Shanghai and the blue one is Hourai.

They're still enemies!

Dolls are smaller than normal players, and thus are both slightly harder to hit and able to get through smaller spaces in maps. Now go exploit every map.,

During Flandre'ss rage, her attacks will inflict bleed, her backstabs will be instant kills, and she'll be able to dash around the map rapidly.

Straight from the video above, you gain the ability to perform a quick leap in any direction by pressing your RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON. Normal super jump is disabled during this time in favor of the alternate mobility.

If you look at the sky and use it, you will dash straight upwards. If you are higher above the ground than normal jump height, you can perform the straight horizontal dash in any direction.

Otherwise, you perform a pounce in whichever direction you are holding with WASD.

The Terrorist
The Terrorist Leader joins the brawl!

While he deals much less melee damage, anyone he kills becomes another terrorist minion.

Killing a minion hurts the boss, so he can't just camp and do nothing.

The boss's rage buffs the minions with more ammo, health, and speed.

Minions have 3 respawns. Their respawn time increases as the number of minions increases.

His health is scaled back to normal at the end of Night Time.

(Essentially it's like 90% damage resistance).

The Ghost Busters
This boss has been temporarily disabled.

Inspired by Slag Gaming. I wanted to make something like The Seeker but more dynamic.

This round is atypical of Versus Saxton Hale.

Red Team users are Medics, who have a ghost-busting Medigun. By holding down attack while looking at a Ghost, they can vaporize a ghost over time. Medics get a speedboost while doing so. Additionally, they may hold right click for a recharging speedboost outside of damaging ghosts.

Blue Team users are split into Zombies (Heavies) and Ghosts (Spies). Ghosts can spook medics by using the medic callbind. Don't bother using your melee, there's no way a ghost can hit another human. Ideally you want to hide away.
Zombies role is to deter and kill Medics. They do move at heavy speed, but they can lunge with alternate fire.

The round ends when there are no more medics, or there are no more ghosts.

The butterflies are slow at first. But as soon as you are marked for death by one, they will chase you far more aggressively.

If you learn their movement, you can still dodge their motions.

The mark for death lasts for 15 seconds.

Nitori Kawashiro
Nitori Kawashiro, the #1 engineering kappa of Gensokyo.

She is a bit of an advanced boss so here is my explanation.

Rotate your buildings when placing them to change what kind of building they are.

As Nitori, you can build a Dispenser or Amplifier. It will have a lot of health depending on the player count.

- Dispenser: Ubercharges Nitori
- Amplifier: Provides crits

If your dispenser or amp is destroyed, you lose all of your metal.

10 metal is generated every 5 seconds.
50 metal is gained upon killing an enemy.

Nitori uses Engie Pads instead of Teleporters. Here are the different types:

- Boost Pad: Grants a speed boost
- Jump Pad: Launches you into the air
- Immunity Pad: Grants knockback and airblast immunity
- Shock Pad: Lay a trap that stuns and deals 128 damage
