Introduction
Welcome to the bottom of the ocean. Your goal in Farsky is to survive in a land where you can't even breathe, the fish are out to kill you, and your sandwiches get soggy. This guide is here to teach you how to stay alive so you can build your Submarine and get back to the surface where you belong!

I wont be explaining everything that Farsky has to offer, as the game is all about exploration. I think your experience will be more enjoyable by not knowing everything, so consider this a beginner's guide.
Gameplay Basics
Farsky isn't about simply wandering across the ocean floor searching for Submarine parts. You have to worry about your Oxygen Level, your Depth and your Hunger Meter.

Without Oxygen you suffocate, so returning to base frequently is a must. Don't worry, later in the game you can upgrade your Oxygen Tank so you can stay outside for longer, but right now you're stuck with a small tank. Stay close to your base and gather resources until you can afford to upgrade your tank, the last thing you want is to wander too far out and suffocate.
(Some of the jokes in this guide will be rather "base")

Don't go too deep either. You have a Maximum Depth you can dive to before your suit begins to crack and break. As with the Oxygen Tank, this can be upgraded later on, so stay away from any vertical drops and explore the shallows.
(Tempting as it is, try not to do a backflip)

Your Hunger Meter is one of your greatest enemies. Over time you will get hungry, and if your Meter reaches 100% you will begin to slowly lose Health. Unfortunately you need Health in order to stay alive, so keeping on top of your rumbling belly is a priority. Luckily there are plenty of options when it comes to eating. You can choose to farm crops that you find in chests (we will discuss farming later), or you can hunt for fish. WARNING: HUNTING FISH WILL ATTRACT PREDATORS THAT THINK YOU ARE TASTY! HUNT ONLY NEAR YOUR BASE!
(You see the fish? Do you see the shark behind it? Don't kill that fish)
Resource Gathering
In order to survive down here you'll need resources. In order to get those resources you'll need to drill. Iron is the most important material (and the most common). It can be used to expand your base, make weapons and, more importantly, upgrade your equipment. Iron is easy to spot; silvery veins in rocks and outcroppings, and it's found in the shallows. If you're playing in Sandbox Mode then try and position your base near as much Iron as you can for maximum drilling.
(Look at those resources, look at them shimmer and shine. Get drilling)

"But drilling takes forever!" I hear you cry. Fear not! By placing an Extractor on the deposit you can continue to explore while gathering those ever-important resources. Extractors work on any deposit, just be sure to come back and collect it all!
(It's like drilling without staring at a wall for three hours!)

Some resources don't show up on your map (Iron, Copper & Magnesium) so always keep your eyes open for shiny/glowy/party rocks.
(Don't rely on your map too much or else you'll miss out on all the fun)

WARNING: RESOURCE DEPOSITS ARE FINITE, THEY WILL RUN OUT!

You can also find treasure chests throughout the world, containing a random assortment of items. They will always show up on your map and are always worth exploring.
Hunting & Farming
So your Extractors are extracting, you're still breathing and you haven't been crushed by the ocean's gigantic weight. Well done! Now it's time to eat, but how?

Well sadly you wont be feasting on hamburgers, but you can enjoy nice healthy crops or every single fish you come across. The safest choice when it comes to aquiring food is farming, however it's slow and takes a long time before you can harvest enough food to prevent starvation. Gathering the resources needed to farm is also difficult and time-consuming, so you'll need to stay alive through hunting at first.
(It took longer than I care to admit just to make this small farm)

So grab your knife, it's time to fish melee-style! Most fish are easy one-hit kills, but their meat isn't very nourishing.
(I found Nemo, but, uh, he was dead when I got here, honest!)

Killing a fish will also attract predators, so be careful. One shark you can probably deal with, but two, three, eleven?
(Stare into the mouth of Oblivion and tell me you don't need a new change of underwear)

Play it safe and stay near your base when hunting, if it becomes too much then just surface inside your base and wait for the water to be clear of sharks. If you do manage to kill a shark then their meat can satisfy 50% of your hunger! Food never spoils either, so stock up as much as you want.

Sidenote: Jellyfish can be found in deeper waters, and while tricky to kill, they can satisfy a surprising amount of your hunger.
Building Your Base
So you have plenty of Iron and a full belly, time to expand! No, not your belly, expand your base! Before you think of improving your watery domain you need the right workstations to do so. Crafting one of every station is plenty, you'll never need more (unless you plan on making a base further away/deeper).
(Everything you'll ever need, including a sauna)

Building isn't like Minecraft, where you place blocks. Instead you place floors and a "New Level" to go up in the world...literally. You can't make your home taller without making a "New Level" piece. You can decorate your home with stools and tables and...stools...and tables...and stools. You can also make beautiful views using glass walls, so you can really tailor your home to how you want it (personally, I like filling every room with tables and stools).

Of course if you're lazy and just want a large home, you can always search for a flooded base. These are giant abandoned homes that are completely flooded with water. In order to make this place liveable you need to explore the base and repair any leaks you find (just use the hammer in your inventory). Each repair costs two Iron so come prepared. Once you've plugged every leak all you have to do is wait and the water level will recede, leaving you with a massive base.
(Here's one I prepared earlier)

A good base layout is to have an observation deck somewhere above offering views all across the ocean floor for predators, with a level solely for farming. At the bottom you should have all your work stations and chests, easily available for quick excursions into the water and back again. You can also add multiple entry-holes for easy access to your home, just remove the floor and place a ladder for you to climb up.
Summary
I wont explain everything that Farsky has to offer (namely Droids, what to expect in the depths and the Kraken) because this game is about exploration and the unknown. I know, it's a cop-out, but this game is much more interesting when you don't know what to expect.

Hopefully this guide helps you all survive and explore the ocean with sarcasm and style (or confusion and desperation, whichever works). If you feel like I've not explained something enough or that I have completely forgotten a certain topic (it happens more often than you think) then please let me know!

Thank you so much to McLovin for the tip about moving the extractor. I just started this game last night and I think I placed mine too far away from the base lol (I have trouble getting to it and coming back without getting a warning about air)

This sounds stupid but, how do I cook? When I put potatoes into the cooker, nothing happens. If it needs fuel, what kind of fuel?

If you mis-place a workshop, wall, or floor...just hit the 8 key to activate your build mode (the hammer icon) and click on the item. It will pick it up and transfer it to your inventory. This goes for Extractor as well. When you mine out an area, pick up your extractors and place them in a new location.
