DP-27

The standard light machine gun of the Red Army during the Second World War. Invented by famous weapons designer Vasily Degtyaryov, who is also credited with the invention of the PPD series of SMGs. Its odd disc-shaped magazines are kind of cumbersome to carry, and earned it the nickname "record player" among Red Army soldiers. Despite this, it was a fairly reliable LMG that served the Red Army well into the 1960s, when it was replaced by the more modernized PKM. It is often misidentified as the "DP-28" in Western sources due to its year of entry into service being 1928.

You can swap between the DP-27 and its tank-mounted variant, the DT-27, in the mod's options menu. The DT-27 has larger 63-round drum magazines, no flash hider, bipod, or barrel shroud, and a folding stock.
