How to bypass the game-breaking glitch locking Story Mode

Just browse the game files and search ".swf" with Windows Explorer at the main folder. Delete every file named either "intro" or "outro", files whom have the SWF extension. Those files are the game cutscenes, made on the outdated Adobe Flash.

The root directory for the game files should be something like this:
Steam\SteamApps\common\Diner Dash Hometown Hero\

The first level from Story Mode is deadlocked because the game tries to play those files as videos, with them gone, so is the glitch.

You may also go straight away to the folders where the cutscenes are located and delete them:
Steam\SteamApps\common\Diner Dash Hometown Hero\assets\downloads\_default\restaurants
The SWF files are on the folders inside the "restaurants" directory.

I could also play the entire game with the cutscenes just by changing the full screen mode to windowed mode

Sadly the bypass was only short lived (not even 1/2 of 1st scenario. Unable to pay game at this point and will be requesting a refund.

Sadly it worked only for a little bit. I was able to get through the first level but got to one level where there was an issue where half the tables weren't showing so you lost the level. Now if i try to go back into story mode it crashes and I have to hard reset my computer because of how stuck I get.

Hi! Thank you - I was able to do this on a mac, but you need to go to the game page on the library, click on manage, then browse local files. Then just right click on the game and choose open package contents or something like that, and follow the steps written above!!

I haven't been able to play this game ever since I bought it, which was in 2012...before they even had refunds on here.
I deleted the swf and I am confident with some tinkering perhaps I could get the game to work now.
I loaded it up but it still ended up crashing at a different point, lol, on the level selection menu.
But at least it seems like now I could struggle bus through it if I really wanted to..
