Introduction

Following the 2020 Spring, Summer, and Winter seasons, comes the advent of the 2021 Summer Season! Kick off the first season with Corsair, the newest class to debut on Black Desert this June 29!

This season is sure to bring a wave of excitement to all Black Desert Adventurers, whether you are a rookie or a veteran Adventurer! (๑>ᴗ<๑)
But what lies in store for the 2021 Summer Season? What’s new? What’s different?

Season FAQ (Beginners’ Guide)
1. What is good about playing in the Season Server?
You can level and gear up a character quickly.
Characters that progressed in season servers can graduate to be played in regular servers.

2. Do Season Characters disappear?
No, they do not. Like we mentioned above, season characters can graduate. They can graduate by completing the graduation questline or when the season server ends.
The season characters can continue to be used as normal characters when the season server ends.

3. Do I need to start a new character even if I have one?
You can create up to 22 characters in a family and make good use of all of them!
Even though you are free to focus on a single character and have them progress through Black Desert, you could also choose to have a variety of characters and become more efficient by using them to do multiple contents.
With more characters, you could go looking for monsters then switch over immediately to another character to gather materials. You could even be out at sea then switch over to a character to fight Kzarka then get back to sailing.

4. Can I make multiple Season Characters?
You can only create one season character per season.
If you want, you can delete your current season character then create another one.

* Note: The deleted character’s data will be completely deleted from the game.

5. What are Naru Gear?
Naru gear are made to aid you in completing the main questlines from Calpheon to Mediah efficiently.
Completing quests will grant you Beginner Black Stones, which are used to enhance Naru gear. Naru gear also boasts a higher success rate for enhancement than normal gear.

Once you’ve completed the Mediah main questline on a season character, you will be able to take your PEN (V) Naru gear and exchange it for PRI (I) Tuvala gear (of the same armor/weapon type) by talking to Fughar.
Please note that Naru accessories can only be enhanced to TRI (III) enhancement levels, and they cannot be exchanged for Tuvala accessories.

6. What are Tuvala Gear?
If Naru gear was designed to help you in completing the main questline up to Mediah, Tuvala gear is a slightly higher-tiered gear to help you become a better adventurer.

You can exchange “Tuvala Ore” (looted from defeated monsters in certain regions of Valencia, Kamasylvia, Drieghan, and O’dyllita) for Tuvala gear through blacksmiths in capital cities. You can also exchange PEN (V) Naru gear for PRI (I) Tuvala gear by talking to Fughar (season characters only).

Tuvala gear is ehanced using Time-filled Black Stones looted from defeated monsters in a Season Server. Tuvala gear upgraded to PEN (V) enhancement levels are comparable in power to TET (IV) boss gear. They will help you in your adventures beyond the Season Server.

Once a season comes to a close, you will be able to exchange one of your Tuvala gear pieces with one of the following boss gear!

<Exchangeable Boss Gear per Tuvala Gear Type>

*Tuvala accessories cannot be exchanged for Boss gear.

7. Can I keep using my Tuvala Gear?

To continue using your Tuvala gear after a season ends, you must use a “[Season] Tuvala Gear Conversion Stone”.
You will be given 1 Tuvala gear conversion stone per each gear type, which you must use to preserve your Tuvala gear. Do note that only 1 piece per gear type can be saved once a season ends.

▲ You can preserve your Tuvala gear with a conversion stone (1 per gear type)

8. Do I have to finish all the quests?
We recommend that you at least complete the Mediah main questline.
It’s a requirement for Season Graduation and an objective on the Season Pass. Also, completing these quests will reward you with much EXP and various items.

Additionally, completing the Mediah main questline will also allow you to convert PEN (V) Naru gear with PRI (I) Tuvala gear.

Another important questline is upon reaching Lv. 56, you will be able to accept the Awakening/Succession quests.
Unlocking Awakening/Succession for your class will greatly empower your character, so we strongly recommend you complete them!

9. Do I have to play in the Season Servers?
Season characters can also play on the normal servers.
However, once you complete the Mediah main questline, you will need season server-only items such as “Time-filled Black Stone,” “Refined Magical Black Stone,” and “Tuvala Ore” to obtain and enhance Tuvala gear. So, we strongly recommend you play on the Season Server.

10. I bought gear from the Central Market, but I can’tequip them?
Season characters can only equip seasonal gear and seasonal quest rewards (which aren’t registerable on the Central Market).

Items which you can be equipped on season characters have the icon displayed below:

11. What is a Season Pass?
The Season Pass offers objectives you must complete in sequence for Season Graduation.
Completing each objective and obtaining its reward will slowly but surely help your character grow into a better adventurer. You can also purchase the “Black Spirit Pass” from the Pearl Shop (F3) to gain access to additional rewards.
▲ Click on the Season Pass icon located in your inventory or at the top of the screen!

12. How do I convert Season Characters to Normal Characters?
There are two ways to convert your Season Character to a Normal Character.
First, is to let time do its job. Once a season ends, your character will convert automatically.

Second, is to complete the Season Graduation questline.
Once you graduate, you can no longer play on the Season Servers, so please keep that in mind before you go through with graduation.
We especially recommend you graduate after you’ve enhanced your Tuvala gear to the maximum enhancement levels.
That’s because, it is much harder to acquire items with similar performance to Tuvala gear on normal servers.

So please note, many adventurers enhance all Tuvala gear to PEN (V) before graduating from the Season Servers!

13. Season Special Gift - Which to choose?
Many seasoned Adventurers suggest picking the gear with similar stats and fetches the highest price on the market.
As much as these gears are expensive, getting one by graduating a season character is very efficient.
Additionally, you can exchange the Season Special Gift Exchange Coupon for that particular piece you’ve been needing.
A season character will only get one special gift.
You can even opt for a previous season’s gift if you would like.
So, if you couldn’t get the gear this season, you can make another season character in the future to get it!

1. How to Create a Season Character
Once you’ve logged into Black Desert, go to the Character Selection screen and press the [+] button to see all of Black Desert’s many classes. If you want to learn more about each class, make sure to check out the [Class Introductions]![www.naeu.playblackdesert.com]

Have you figured out which class you want to play? If so, once you’ve customized the character to your liking and decided on a character name, check the “Season Character” checkbox and click Create! Now you’ve successfully created a season character! (You can only make one season character per season!)

2. Season Character and Server Perks
Season characters and servers have a lot of perks! Let’s learn about them below.

■ Season Character Perks
First off, season characters receive special level up rewards every time they reach a certain level. The 2021 Summer Season offers a variety of rewards, including Adventurer Shoes and enhancement materials, that will help you progress and get even more rewards!

If you want to learn more about the Season Character Level Up rewards, check out the [Event] Season Server Level Up Rewards[www.naeu.playblackdesert.com] event page. And what if you are playing the Corsair class as your season character? Then, check out the [Event] Ahoy! Thar She Levels![www.naeu.playblackdesert.com] event page to find out what rewards you can get as well!

■ Season Server Perks
The Season Servers are special servers that can only be accessed by Season Characters. Additionally, these servers are only available for a limited period of time. As these servers are focused on character progression, they offer 24/7 EXP buffs without limitations on character levels.

The Combat EXP +250% and Skill EXP +50% buff will be active 24/7 from
June 29, 2021 (Tue) after maintenance – July 14, 2021 (Wed) before maintenance!

Every time you reach a certain level or achieve a certain requirement, you will obtain a Leveling Aid Box for each level. Not only will there be the Combat/Skill EXP buffs, but there are also Time-filled Black Stones and Inventory Expansion Coupons!

All these perks are intended to boost your character progression!

■ Season Pass

The Season Pass can be accessed from the Black Spirit button at the left of the minimap. This Season Pass is meant to support our Adventurers as they progress and is only available in the season servers.

Make sure to get all the Challenge rewards in the Season Pass as they will definitely aid your character progression!

Check out the [Event] Season Pass[www.naeu.playblackdesert.com] notice for more information about the Challenges and rewards!

* If you progress through the simplified main questline, you can talk to the Black Spirit to receive the “Normal Season Pass” rewards after completing a quest.

■ Season Exclusive Tuvala Gear
Tuvala Gear is a special kind of equipment that can only be equipped by season characters! There are two main ways to obtain Tuvala Gear.

In order to enhance the Tuvala Gear, you will need the following enhancement materials: Time-filled Black Stones, Tuvala Ore, and Refined Magical Black Stone. You can obtain these enhancement materials from various sources, which include monster zones, the Season Pass, and more.

■ Season Graduation Rewards
Adventurers who have finished their journey in the summer season servers can expect a special reward to prepare them for the normal servers!

Once you graduate, you’ll receive one of the items below through a Season Special Gift Exchange Coupon. (You can only receive each special reward once per Family. If you’ve claimed it before, you can’t receive it again!)

* Adventurers who missed out on a previous season reward can select it and exchange for it this time around!

Upon graduating, you can open the Gift Box Full of Memories to receive a variety of items, including Cron Stones, Advice of Valks, and Secret Book of Old Moon, that will help you in your adventures on the normal servers. However, make sure you pay close attention to the [Season] Boss Gear Exchange Coupon that you can also obtain!

If you use the Exchange Coupon, you can exchange a single piece of PRI (I) - PEN (V) Tuvala Gear for Boss Gear. The Boss Gear you exchange for will be one enhancement level lower than the Tuvala Gear you exchanged.
E.g.) PEN (V) Tuvala Armor → TET (IV) Dim Tree Spirit’s Armor

The exchanged Boss Gear is bound to your Family. It can be enhanced with Caphras Stone and even be made into Fallen God’s Armor. However, the Boss Gear cannot be listed on the Central Market.

3. What’s Different in the 2021 Summer Season
We’ve heard all kinds of feedback and suggestions from Adventurers who enjoyed the previous Spring, Summer, and Winter Seasons. So, shall we see what’s new and different in the 2021 Summer Season?

■ Simplified Main Questline (Existing Adventurers)
We’ve added a new “Simplified Main Questline” for our existing Adventurers.

* You can progress through the simplified main questline with a summer season character only once per Family.
* The simplified main questline will only be available while the season servers are active and will disappear once the season ends.

Adventurers who fulfill all the requirements and have completed the main questline up ‘till “The Sage of Velia” can accept the [Special Growth] Birth of a Prestigious Family quest from the NPC Alustin in Velia.

If you’ve completed the final quest of the Balenos main questline, Embarking on an Adventure, you will no longer be able to accept the [Special Growth] Birth of a Prestigious Family quest. Thus, you will no longer be able to do the simplified main questline, so make sure to check in with the NPC Alustin beforehand!

■ Season Character Transfer System
What if you created your season character as Class A, but now want to enjoy the season with Class B...?

Don’t worry! Because in the 2021 Summer Season, there is a new Season Character Transfer System that allows you to use “Fughar’s Timepiece” to transfer your season character status and Combat/Skill EXP!

* Warning! Quests that are in progress or completed on Class A will not be transferred to Class B!

Also, the Class B character that you wish to transfer the season character status to must be Lv. 25 or lower to be transferrable. (Class A must be connected to a normal server with all their gear unequipped.)

Once you’ve used Fughar’s Timepiece, you will receive three exchange coupons (Tuvala Main Weapon Exchange Coupon, Tuvala Sub-weapon Exchange Coupon, and Tuvala Awakening Exchange Coupon) in the transferred character’s inventory after you’ve gone to the Character Selection screen. Use these coupons to change your Tuvala weapons to ones that are suitable for Class B!

■ Party Monster Zones
Did you start the Summer Season with guildmates or friends?

In this season, three areas were changed to “Party Monster Zones.” (Normal and season servers!) Take this chance to party up with your friends and stack up loot together!

* Once the Summer Season ends, these monster zones will revert back to their original state.
- About the Simplified Main Questline
A "simplified" main questline for Adventurers has been added that can only be completed in the season server. However, this questline is only available during the season server. The entire questline will be removed when the season server ends.

- The simplified questline will be available to Adventurers that have completed the entire Mediah main questline and completed the quest "[Pet] Bareeds' Junaid" from Bareeds III at least once. The simplified questline can only be completed once per family with a season character.
- Once your season character reaches Velia through the main questline and completes the quest "The Sage of Velia," go to Alustin in Velia to start the simplified questline by accepting the quest "[Special Growth] Birth of a Prestigious Family."
- You will not be able to proceed with the Serendia, Calpheon, and Mediah main questlines upon accepting this quest. Instead, Adventurers will be able to level freely and receive rewards for reaching certain levels.
- The last quest of the simplified questline, "[Season] Fughar's Memorandum - Chapter 11," will make the character have fulfilled the same prerequisites of a character who has completed the Mediah main questline and allow them to start the Valencia questline.
- Additionally, when progressing through each of the quests, the character will get inventory expansion quests and certain regular quests.

Here are a few answers to common questions:

Not sure why you’re only seeing the Valencia questline while you’re in Velia?
You may have started the Simplified Main Questline by accepting Birth of a Prestigious Family.
If you complete this quest, your character won’t be able to do the normal questline before Valencia.

What if you want to do the normal main questline instead of the simplified version?
You’ll need to first forfeit the [Special Growth] Birth of a Prestigious Family quest.
Afterward, you’ll be able to progress through the normal main questline.

Want to start the Simplified Main Questline?
Go to Alustin in Velia and accept the quest [Special Growth] Birth of a Prestigious Family.
You’ll also need to use Fughar's Memorandum - Chapter 1, which can be found in your Inventory.
Once you complete a chapter, talk to the Black Spirit to complete the Season Pass Challenges!

What if you lose Fughar's Memorandum or forfeit the associated quest?
Just talk to the Black Spirit to get it back and restart the quest!

Update July 7th

• Changed the following when doing the simplified quests in the Summer Season Server:
- Changed the simplified quest from 'acceptable once per family' to accepted by any season character. This was changed after Adventurers gave us their feedback about wanting to do the simplified quests again after deleting or transferring a season character.
- Changed the Valencia main questline prerequisite from '[Special Growth] Fughar's Memorandum - Chapter 11' to '[Special Growth] Fughar's Memorandum - Chapter 8.' This quest can be accepted once the character reaches Lv. 56.
- Changed the way the simplified questline begins. Instead of using 'Fughar's Memorandum,' you will now talk to the Black Spirit (,) to accept and complete these quests. As a result, the 'Fughar's Memorandum' items have been removed.
- Added more objectives to complete the simplified questline. Now you will need to talk to Black Spirit Black Spirit (,) after reaching a certain level to complete the quest. By talking to Black Spirit (,), you will be able to fulfill certain main questline progression depending on how far you have completed the simplified questline as well as complete the related Season Pass objectives.

• Adventurers who fulfill the following conditions before the July 7 (Wed) maintenance will now automatically accept the [Special Growth] Birth of a Prestigious Family quest. (If you fulfill two of the conditions below, you will automatically accept the [Special Growth] Birth of a Prestigious Family quest.)
- Completed the [Pet] Bareeds' Junaid and The Sage of Velia quests
- Have not started or completed the Embarking on an Adventure quest
* If you wish to go through the original main questline instead of the [Special Growth] Birth of a Prestigious Family questline, you can forfeit the questline and complete the Embarking on an Adventure quest.
* Reconnecting to the game before you accept or complete the Embarking on an Adventure quest will make you automatically accept the [Special Growth] Birth of a Prestigious Family. You can forfeit this quest to begin the original main questline.

You’re now ready to head off to the Season Servers!

As someone who just started playing BDO, this guide is very helpful.
Thanks man!

@JFab Hello!
You can get Tuvala gear on Season Servers. Narchillan is a one per family thing, Tuvala isn't!
JFab 3 Jul, 2021 @ 8:07am
Great guide!
I've got one question tho. If I've got the Narchilian gear on normal servers, can I still get the tuvala gear on season servers? It might be a dumb question, but to get the narchilian gear you have to do pretty much the same thing to get it (I mean getting Naru gear to PEN and then exchange it).
