This is a guide (mainly for myself in the future) that shows how I installed mods and which mods I am using.

Installing SuperBLT
First step: downloading SuperBLT so that we can install mods

The mod can be installed at https://superblt.znix.xyz/, if you cannot access the website it should should show up as the first result if you Google "Payday2 SuperBLT." The URL may look funny (xyz) but it is safe.

First you download the dll zip by clicking on the "Latest Release DLL" link. Once downloaded the zip file should contain a dll file named WSOCK32.dll.

You need to drop this dll file into the main file directory of Payday 2. Your individual Payday 2 main file directory can be found by rick clicking on the game in your library, selecting "properties," going to the "Installed Files" section of the newly opened window, and then clicking on the browse section at the top right of the window.

The main file directory of Payday 2 should have the payday2_win32_release.exe and it should look something like this

Once the dll has been put in the correct folder you can now start your game. When starting your game for the first time a special window pop up. It will ask you if you want to install the basemod, please select "yes"

After that your computer CMD will pop up and once installation is complete a new popup will tell youthat you need to restart Payday 2

Upon restarting Payday 2 you will know installation is complete if there is a message box in the bottom left saying that all of your mods are up to date

Installing SuperBLT Mods
Now that the SuperBLT has been installed adding any mods you want is super simple.

If you go back to your main file directory for Payday 2 there should be a folder named "mods"

Inside of this mods folder there should four folders called "base," "downloads," "logs," and "saves." You can install any mods by droping their files into that main folder with the other four folders. The mod files should always be in a single master file with an easily identifiable name. As a simple example this is what my mods folder looks like with a single mod installed, that being PocoHud3

You will have more folders as you install new mods. Mods that are compatible with SuperBLT will show up in your mods menu where updates can be downloaded automatically.

Some mods will have options that can be changed. Most are accessed through the "Mod Options" section of the regular options menu. Some mods (like PocoHud3) have special mod menus that are accessed in other ways. If I cover any of those mods I will show where their settings are easily accessed.

Installing Mod Overrides Mods
Another class of mods are simple ones that override assets in Payday 2. A common example of this is a mod that replaces a suit of the heister with another one.

To install these mods you have to create a new file called "mod_overrides" in the asset folder located in the main file directory of Payday 2. This website gives a pretty good guide for how to do so https://wiki.modworkshop.net/books/installing-payday-2-mods/page/installing-mod-override-mods

Once that folder is created mod install is as simple as the SuperBLT ones where you drop the main file for the mod into the "mod_overrides" folder.
BeardLib
Install Link: https://modworkshop.net/mod/14924?tab=description

Install instructions: Copy the main "BeardLib" folder to your mods folder of Payday 2. Once installed upon first start up you may have to update the mod through the mod menu.

BeardLib is a script extender and makes a lot of other mods work, highly recommended to install it just in case anything else relies on it.
Lobby Player Info

Install Link: https://pd2mods.z77.fr/lobby_player_info.html

Install instructions: Copy the main "Lobby Player Info" folder to your mods folder of Payday 2. Once installed upon first start up you may have to update the mod through the mod menu. Afterwards the settings for the mod can be edited by going into the "Mod Options" section of the regular options menu.

Now that you know how to install mods I have some recommendations. One of the first mods I recommend for players to install is the "Lobby Player Info" mod. This mod is extremely useful because it lets you see what skills other players are using, although there are two main uses

1-) It lets you easily identify cheaters, as they have all the skills equipped. Usually a cheater's name will be highlighted in red by the mod, as it recognizes there is no way to have every skill equipped.
2-) It lets you see if new players are not optimizing their builds, especially perk decks. Back in the early days of Payday 2 the perk decks were in a hidden menu and many players didn't know about it. It isn't as much of an issue nowadays but I will sometimes still players with an empty perk deck.
Bag Contour

Install Link: https://pdmods-arc.berigora.net/paydaymods.com/mods/85/BC.html

Install instructions: Copy the main "Bag Contour" folder to your mods folder of Payday 2. Once installed upon first start up you may have to update the mod through the mod menu. Afterwards the settings for the mod can be edited by going into the "Mod Options" section of the regular options menu.

Bag Contours is simple in that it outlines bags in different colors based on their weight. It is super nice to be able to tell how heavy something is before you pick it up.
PocoHud3
Install Link: https://modworkshop.net/mod/40870

Install instructions: Copy the main "PocoHud3" folder to your mods folder of Payday 2. Once installed upon first start up you may have to update the mod through the mod menu. Afterwards the settings for the mod can be edited by pressing the backspace key.

PocoHud3 was my go to UI for Payday 2. Everyone has their own preference. For a long time this mod was broken because Andole stepped down from maintaining it, but now a new person Dom has made it work for newer version of Payday 2.

PocoHud3 has a lot of nice features, such as being able to see kills, right click to automatically hold interact, and even show you active buffs.

There can be information overload so I usually edit the settings to slim down the UI, here are some of my settings:
- Damage Arc -> Enable -> Off
- Game Mechanisms -> Crimenet Scale -> 70%
- Chat -> End Stat -> Everyone-host
- Chat -> Downed Warning -> Everyone-host
- Chat -> Pagers in Crime Spree -> Everyone-host
Hoxton's PD:TH Suit
Install Link: https://modworkshop.net/mod/12457?tab=description

Install instructions: Copy the main "PDTH Hoxton V3.1" folder to your "mod_overrides" within the asset folder of your main file directory of Payday 2.

I really dislike the new suit given to Hoxton in comparison to his old one from Payday: The Heist. This mod simply restores the suit to the old blue pinstripe one.
John Wick Black and White Suit
Install Link: https://modworkshop.net/mod/26880

Install instructions: Copy the main "John Wick Black and White Suit" folder to your "mod_overrides" within the asset folder of your main file directory of Payday 2.

I don't like the black on black of the original John Wick suit, especially since you can barely see the tie. I much prefer the white shirt with black suit and tie. Very minor nitpick but I love the look.
Better Wick Face
Install Link: https://modworkshop.net/mod/1524?tab=description

Install instructions: Copy the main "Better Wick Face" folder to your "mod_overrides" within the asset folder of your main file directory of Payday 2.

Speaking of Wick, the original face for John Wick is absolutely horrible. This isn't a great fix but it is a great improvement.
Scarface Overhaul - Definitive Edition 1.02
Install Link: https://modworkshop.net/mod/39016?tab=description

Install instructions: Copy the main "Matthelzor's Definitive Scarface Model Overhaul" folder to your "mod_overrides" within the asset folder of your main file directory of Payday 2.

Scarface is one of my favorite movies with Tony Montana being such a great character. While the Overkill default version of him is fine, this mod makes him look stunning.
Scarface The World Is Yours Voicepack
Install Link: https://modworkshop.net/mod/33047?tab=description

Install instructions: Mod is a bit trickier to install since there are some options. Copy the main "Scarface The World Is Yours Voicepack 4.0" folder to your "mod_overrides" within the asset folder of your main file directory of Payday 2. Delete items from within that folder you do not want. Personally I only use the "Tony's Increased Aggression [ Pager Overhaul ]" folder

Scarface came off as a little tame in the Payday 2 game. In the movie he was aggressive and very loud. This mod helps restore some of that energy to Tony by using some voicelines from the other game "Scarface: The World Is Yours." This might be my favorite Payday 2 mod because it makes playing loud with tony so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fun.
Mega ORIGINAL Chains

Install Link: https://modworkshop.net/mod/13117?tab=description

Install instructions: Copy the main "Mega Original Chains" folder to your "mod_overrides" within the asset folder of your main file directory of Payday 2.

I know this only affects the 5 people that bought the completely overkill pack but them changing the original Chains mask really bothered me. It just looked so stupid. This isn't a perfect fix but it makes the mask bearable now.

Assuming that you have the latest DLL I think it might be a problem with your computer.

Game hasn't been updated in a year so unlikely that OVERKILL broke something and caused Super BLT to no longer work.

With Payday 3 coming around I finally got back to putting this guide in a presentable state. It has instructions now for installing the SuperBLT, installing general mods, and giving one mod recommendation. I'll be adding more as I continue though.

Sorry, I had planned on making this guide side by side while re-discovering how to mod. It kinda went by the wayside and I forgot about it. Now that I am done with grad school I can come back and finish it lol
Ah yes, Step One: Super Bacon Lettuce Tomato.

What's that? You want a Step Two? Too bad.

Drop the files into PAYDAY 2/mods folder. If one doesn't exist create it
