Introduction
This is a guide to help with the summon magic system that was released in version two of The Benza RPG. Once Hamilton joins the party, the player gains the ability to literally call a new character into the battle via phone to assist Hamilton while strategically removing the other characters from the battle for a few rounds.

Summoned/called characters gain experience after any battle that they have been summoned in and level up at a faster rate than the normal characters. Summoned characters also gained stats much faster than the other party members to compensate for the fact that there are usually only two (or four) characters on the screen. As summoned characters gain levels, they occasionally learn new abilities.

There is no penalty for the death of a summoned character, and they are all revived at the end of the fight. Summoned characters are great to absorb a strong attack from a boss or to help take down a few monsters for a fight that isn’t going very well before bringing back the rest of the party to finish the fight.

The only disadvantage is that Hamilton cannot use the “Switch” command once he has called someone. Characters can only be switched after the called character has been removed via the “Dismiss” command. The upside is that there is no turn loss if Hamilton uses “Dismiss”.

Hamilton joins the party with only three “Call” abilities learned but can learn more by doing quests and gaining additional phone numbers. (Like I wrote before, he is literally calling people with his phone in battle.)

It is important to level the summons as you get them. They level faster than normal characters and can be stronger than normal party members if raised properly. They also have access to abilities that no other character has.

It goes without saying, but there are minor spoilers ahead. Please do not use this guide if you do not want to be spoiled or know about who joins the party as a callable character.

“Call” Magic Quests
I have listed these quests in the order in which they become available. There is no reason to wait to get these, and they are especially helpful before going to the Shopping Mall in Higashi Nakano to look for Maria as well as on floors 31-35 of the Japanese School.

1) Bear
Return to Higashi Nakano Park after visiting the Tax Office in Okubo. The park staff will tell you that there is a bear in the back of the park and ask you to find out what is going on.

Return to the area where you fought the giant slime boss. The baby bear and mother bear will be there waiting for you. After a short scene (in which Hamilton reveals he can speak to bears) you will gain “Call Bear”.

2) Tomo
Tomo is in the fourth car of the train. After returning from Okubo, go to Noguchi’s Café and inform Noguchi of what happened to Tomo. She will join your party as a guest character.

Take Noguchi to Tomo and speak to him once. After speaking to him, speak to the guard at the table in front of Tomo’s cell. He will open the door and Tomo will return to Noguchi’s Café with Noguchi. Hamilton will gain “Call Tomo”.

3) Justin
Justin can be found on the 34th floor of the Japanese School. He has been injured. Kaori will try to heal him, but her magic will not work. If Tamura has learned the skill “First Aid”, he will heal Justin and Hamilton will learn “Call Justin”.

There are a lot of monsters that Tamura can learn “First Aid” from, but the easiest is to just go to Higashi Nakano Park and learn it from a monster there.

4) Bob
After reuniting the entire party, speak to Bob in the Department Store. He can be found on the third floor. He will instruct Hamilton to meet him at his secret training spot.

The entrance to the sewers can be found on the 27th floor. Only Tamura and Hamilton will enter the sewers. Bob’s secret training spot is in the sewers at about a 6 o’clock position.

Once you speak to Bob, a boss fight will begin. Bob has the ability to put the party to sleep, so it is best to equip accessories that prevent sleep. Tamura can learn “1000 Punch Kick” from this fight, which is a very useful TP based ability for him.

After defeating Bob, Hamilton will learn “Call Bob”.

5) Za
After reuniting the entire party, speak to Za in front of Chris and Kyle’s house. She will ask the party to return to David’s subconscious in the Shadow Circus and to talk with the Lamia Queen.
The Lamia Queen can be found in the back of David’s subconscious in the area just behind David’s cabin. She will then ask you to speak to Sgt. Inko in Inko Sensei’s subconscious and the bunny girl in Inko Sensei’s tent.

Sgt. Inko can be found just inside of Inko Sensei’s subconscious. Speaking to her triggers a boss fight. Sgt. Inko primarily uses shadow magic and toxic. Having David buff everyone against shadow magic and Kaori ready to cure toxic will make this fight much easier.

After talking with the two, head back to the Lamia Queen. Speak to her, and then return to Za. Hamilton will learn “Call Za”.

6) Rebel Fairy
Return to the clearing in Stephanie’s subconscious where the party fought the Fairy Queen. Speak to the fairy next to Rebel Fairy. He will instruct the player to find “Raise 2” and Stephanie will remember seeing some strange magic on a wall somewhere.

Return to Floor 19 of the school and take the stairs down into the cave like area. Head to the 3rd floor of this area to the treasure room where the player fought the giant spider. In the back of this room there are strange words on the wall. Checking this area will trigger a boss fight with the giant spider again.

The giant spider can paralyze as well as poison, so have accessories ready to go that prevent these negative status effects.

After the fight ends, Kaori will learn “Raise 2”. Return to Rebel Fairy in Stephanie’s subconscious and speak to everyone. Kaori will use “Raise 2” on Rebel Fairy and Hamilton will learn “Call Fairy”.
