Finish all chapters of the game.
Any Difficulty really.

Cleared Hard
Finish all chapters of the game on Hard.
Hard is available at the start.

Cleared Very Hard
Finish all chapters of the game on Very Hard.
Either beat Doku on Chapter 2 or Beat the game on Hard to unlock Very Hard

Cleared Master Ninja
Finish all chapters of the game on Master Ninja.
Either beat Doku on Chapter 2 or beat the game on Very Hard to unlock Master Ninja

These achievement are stackable, except the Hero mode of course. So if you beat the game on Master Ninja you will unlock all the achievements regarding difficulty. Please note that difficult will change on how you unlocks weapons and stuff. Sometimes you will have to buy it, or found it or even collect scarabs to unlock it. This will definitely change the reward for collecting scarabs. For that you can check the recap at the end.

The below achievements requires you to get the highest rank possible. They are stackable, so if you get the Master Ninja rank on Master Ninja difficulty you will unlock them all.

The Journey to Master Ninja
Get Master Ninja on all chapters.


The Long Journey to Master Ninja
Get Master Ninja on all chapters on Hard.


The Really Long Journey to Master Ninja

A thing to note for the Master rank, it seems you could try to rank every chapter in multiple playthrough. Like 1st playthrough for the first 10 chapter and 2nd playthrough for the last 9 chapter.

You will need several playthoughs :
1 short on Hero difficulty to get the specific achievement.
1 long on Hard difficulty to get the all the enchantments and unlock Very Hard.
1 short on Very Hard difficulty to unlock Master Ninja difficulty.
1 long on Master Ninja difficulty to get all chapters with a Master Ninja Rank
1 long for all Ninja Trials

A thing to note for the Master rank, it seems you could try to rank every chapter in multiple playthrough. Like 1st playthrough for the first 10 chapter and 2nd playthrough for the last 9 chapter.

Echantments are the only things that carry over so it is best that you unlock them all by beating the game once.

Also to farm kills (even yellow essence & karma) it is best that you keep a save for each ambush.

Karma is awarded by killing ennemies and is linked to a single playthrough, you can check the amount almost everywhere even while playing. Also the other modes might help a lot of count toward this amount.


Over 10,000,000 Karma
Get 10,000,000 Karma.


Over 50,000,000 Karma
Get 50,000,000 Karma.

Yellow Essence is earned by destroying stuff and killing foes.
They appears as Yellow Orbs that will comes near you if you move toward them or by using your ultimate abilities.
This is the currency of the game which is used to buy or upgrades many things with the help of Muramasa's statue or shop.

Hold 99,999 Yellow Essence.

Life of the Thousand Gods
Increase the health when used.

Life of the Gods
Fill 1 of 9 symbols of the Kuji-In, when filled it increase the health.

Spirit of the Devils
Increase your Ki by 1 unit when used.

Increase a Ninpo technique by 1 level for a maximum of 3.

If playing in Hero difficulty you will get during your playthrough :

Heroes Never Give Up
Be a Hero 100 times.
This is done by taking a fatal wound, which trigger the Hero mode for a while.

From now on you will likely to have the following 2 achievements later on :

Dragon Sword Master
Defeat 1000 enemies with the Dragon Sword.
That is your starting weapon.

Feat of Ultimate Destruction
Use the strongest Ultimate Technique on 100 enemies.
You need to use the Second Level of your Ultimate Technique.

It is best that you understand how it works and use it as early as possible as it might help you a lot!
This can be done by holding the attack button.
By doing so you will absorb any orb that is away from you.
Yellow orb will instantly get you to the next level, getting 2 of them will instantly get you to the max.
Blue and Red Orb instantly get you to the max. But be warned, they are consumed for your ultimate therefore they won't give you any outcome.
You might need to touch an enemy for the achievement to count, otherwise what's the point?

It is best that you save all yellow orbs until you reach the limit for:

Increase the maximum health.
Chest found in the Tatami Room.

Talisman of Rebirth
Recovers spiritual life and Ninpo to maximum when downed.

Completed Chapter 1.

Fire Wheels Master
Use Fire Wheels successfully 100 times.
Unlocked when interacting with the altar.

Inferno Master
Use Inferno successfully 100 times.
Purchased for 1000 yellow essence

Life of the Gods #1 (1/9)
Fill 1 of 9 symbols of the Kuji-In, when filled it increase the health.
Outer Village - near the water with the broken bridge, on a ledge hidden in a chest.

Life of the Gods #2 (2/9)
Fill 1 of 9 symbols of the Kuji-In, when filled it increase the health.
Hayabusa Village Entrance - pick the stone head an place it on the broken Jizo Statue.

Free Essence
Give Yellow, Blue and Red essence.
Open Range - If you shoot the target with the bow it should give you essence for each shot.

Counter Attack Technique Scroll

Normal - After the boss battle against MASAKADO, you should get it / find it arround.

Life of the Gods #3 (3/9)
Fill 1 of 9 symbols of the Kuji-In, when filled it increase the health.
Burning House - before leaving in a chest hidden in a gap.

Cleared Very Hard
Finish all chapters of the game on Very Hard.
Either beat Doku on Chapter 2 or Beat the whole game on Hard to unlock Very Hard

Cleared Master Ninja
Finish all chapters of the game on Master Ninja.

Obtain a scarab.

Inferno Master
Use Inferno successfully 100 times.
Very Hard - Exchanged for 1 Scarab

Life of the Gods #5 (5/9)
Fill 1 of 9 symbols of the Kuji-In, when filled it increase the health.
Normal - Exchanged for 1 Scarab.

Lead Scarab Hunter
Obtain 10 scarabs.
Scarab 2 - Storage Room that need an ID Card at the start of the Chapter.

You don't need to clear the ambush to get this Scarab but it will be tricky to get.

Ninja Carnage
Kill every enemy in an Ambush. (120 enemies)
Ambush #1 - Triggered in Storage Room that need an ID Card at the start of the Chapter.

Ambush are area that spawn foes in waves that gives mainly yellow essence and few or none blue essence and that reward you by clearing the ambush in the required time. So if you did not get any reward, you will need to leave and enter the area to try again. Rewards appears on the ground and make a noise, so you can't miss them. The number of ennemies does scale with the difficulty.

Increase the maximum health.
Reward for the Airship Challenge - Storage Room.

Dragon Sword Master
Defeat 1000 enemies with the Dragon Sword.
The ambush is a good way to get more kills, if you leave early it will reset.

Dual Katana Master
Defeat 1000 enemies with the Dual Katana.
Found later on the chapter in a small storage room.

Lead Scarab Hunter
Obtain 10 scarabs.
Scarab 3 - Gas Compartment Passageway - Hidden in upper deck.

Lunar Staff Master
Defeat 1000 enemies with the Lunar Staff.
Found on the go in a jar.

Life of the Gods #X (X/9)
Fill 1 of 9 symbols of the Kuji-In, when filled it increase the health.
Near the first save were foes shoot you from atop, there is a ledge that lead to it.

Normal Life of the Gods #6 (6/9)

Increase the maximum health.
In the same area, in the the stairs, run on the wall to grab the ledge, and take a zipline.

Defeat 500 enemies with Rachel.
The ambush is a good way to get more kills.

''Ninja Massacre'' achievement is not bugged you are probably missing Chapter 12 Aquaducts 4B (also known as bug room). You have to clear this room TWICE because first one is not actually fiend challenge you are triggering it because you opened the first chest. After you clear the room go up with elevator then down again. NOW you are actually doing fiend challenge and after you complete it prize chest will be spawn near the previously opened one. Please author add this to the your guide. I think a lot of people including me had trouble with this achievement.

Get Master on all chapters on Master Ninja.

These achievements are easy, you need to kill foes with the right weapon. Just switch to another weapon when you got the achievement. The best way to farm will be to use any Ambush and to leave and re-enter until you get it. I suggest you do that after you get all other achievements first. Playing in an easier difficulty might help for most of us while farming in Ambushes.

Dragon Sword Master
Defeat 1000 enemies with the Dragon Sword.
Starting with it on Chapter 1.

Dual Katana Master
Defeat 1000 enemies with the Dual Katana.
Found on Chapter 3.

Lunar Staff Master
Defeat 1000 enemies with the Lunar Staff.
Found on Chapter 4.

Rachel Master
Defeat 500 enemies with Rachel.
Played as Rachel on Chapter 5.

Vigoorian Flail Master
Defeat 1000 enemies with the Vigoorian Flail.
Found on Chapter 7.

Unlabored Flawlessness Master
Defeat 1000 enemies with the Wooden Sword/Unlabored Flawlessness.
Purchased or Exchanged for Scarabs.

Dabilahro Master
Defeat 1000 enemies with the Dabilahro.
Found or Exchanged for Scarabs.

War Hammer Master
Defeat 1000 enemies with the War Hammer (Hayabusa).
Found on Chapter 10.

Kitetsu Master
Defeat 1000 enemies with the Kitetsu.
Found on Chapter 15.

Projectile Weapons Master
Defeat 100 enemies with projectile weapons.
Any projectile count really.

That one should be very easy, and I think the best spot will be the bug ambush and I guess they might be killed easily with shurikens.

Izuna Drop Master
Use the Izuna Drop on 100 enemies.
Purchased or exchanged for Scarabs.

Since you just need to use the Technique I believe that you need to use it on 100 different enemies meaning that it might not count if you use it the the same enemy.

Guillotine Throw Master
Use the Guillotine Throw on 100 enemies.
Found or exchanged for Scarabs.

Since you just need to use the Technique I believe that you need to use it on 100 different enemies meaning that it might not count if you use it the the same enemy.

Feat of Ultimate Destruction
Use the strongest Ultimate Technique on 100 enemies.
You need to use the Second Level of your Ultimate Technique.

This can be done by holding the attack button.
By doing so you will absorb any orb that is away from you.
Yellow orb will instantly get you to the next level, getting 2 of them will instantly get you to the max.
Blue and Red Orb instantly get you to the max. But be warned, they are consumed for your ultimate therefore they won't give you any outcome.
You might need to touch an enemy for the achievement to count, otherwise what's the point?

I believe you need to do at least a damage for the use to count, maybe the description is misleading and you need to kill foes with it. Some people said that you need to upgrade a Nimpo to level 3 for it to count as a successful use.[/u]

Use Inferno successfully 100 times.

Use Fire Wheels successfully 100 times.
Found on Chapter 2

Ice Storm Master
Use Ice Storm successfully 100 times.
Found on Chapter 7

Sorcery Master
Use Sorcery successfully 100 times.
Found on Chapter 8

Inazuma Master
Use Inazuma successfully 100 times.
Found on Chapter 10

Scarabs are collectible that are found during the game. It is not obvious to track how many you've got. The scarabs displayed on your player menu is only the one you are carrying. When you check on Muramasa's statue or shop they will be displayed there and so the amount you are carrying will reset to zero. So you can check how man,y you got by only checking both the player menu and the shop menu. Also note that there are no Scarab to be found when playing as Rachel as she only cares about hunting Fiends.

The rewards depends on which difficulty you are playing with.

Ambush are area that spawn foes in waves that gives mainly yellow essence and few or none blue essence and that reward you by clearing the ambush in the required time. So if you did not get any reward, you will need to leave and enter the area to try again. Rewards appears on the ground and make a noise, so you can't miss them.
The number of ennemies does scale with the difficulty :

• -- for Ninja Dog
  
• 60 for Hero
  
• -- for Normal
  
• -- for Hard
  
• -- for Very Hard
  
• 120 for Master Ninja

There are a total of 13 ambushes, 10 for Ryu and 3 for Rachel :

Ryu Chapter 3 - Airship (Need ID Card)
Rachel Chapter 5 - Monastery Annex (Back area behind Monastery *Hard to find*)
Ryu Chapter 7 - Archives Room (If you defeat Alma, this won't trigger)
Rachel Chapter 8 - Military Gate (Don't fight Gamov or you'll lose this chance)
Ryu Chapter 10 - Ritual Room (Available after Alma is defeated)
Ryu Chapter 12 - Peristyle Passage (long and huge hallway *cannot be missed*)
Ryu Chapter 12 - Aqueducts 4B (Bugs spawns, good essence farming place)
Rachel Chapter 14 - Hayabusa Village (Near Save and Muramasa's statue)
Ryu Chapter 15 - Zarkhan Stadium (After Doku is defeated and you activate switch)
Ryu Chapter 15 - Imperial Palace Stairway
Ryu Chapter 16 - Underground Passage (Cannot be missed)
Ryu Chapter 16 - DrawBridge Square (Cannot be missed)
Ryu Chapter 18 - Great Bridge Square (Must travel back to the city)

Kill every enemy in an Ambush. (≃120 enemies)


Ninja Slaughter
Kill every enemy in 6 Ambushes. (≃120 enemies each)

Kill every enemy in all Ambushes. (≃120 enemies each)

''Ninja Massacre'' achievement is not bugged you are probably missing Chapter 12 Aquaducts 4B (also known as bug room). You have to clear this room TWICE because first one is not actually fiend challenge you are triggering it because you opened the first chest. After you clear the room go up with elevator then down again. NOW you are actually doing fiend challenge and after you complete it prize chest will be spawn near the previously opened one. Please author add this to the your guide. I think a lot of people including me had trouble with this achievement.

There are 3 Team Ninja Logo to be found, for the first one you will be able to back track later.

Chapter 4
Outside of Han's bar. Across from the bar's entrance is a wall you can run jump up, as indicated by the blue lines. At the top is the Windmill Shuriken (depending on level) and the logo. Make a note of this location since you can return here any time while you're rummaging around the city.

Chapter 11
After fighting the two tanks, you can find it in the corner of the area.

Chapter 18
At the very top (or bottom depending on how you see it) of the Gates to Hell.
