Paradise Islands Boss Guide
By King Jonezy
I found this boss to be extremely difficult and frustrating, (I literally ALT-F4'd twice and almost a third time after dying) so here is how I finally beat him.

Gear and Food:

- I think the most important thing to mention is that fighting him at night time can provide a huge advantage as the temperature on the island drops to about 31 degrees, meaning you can get away with wearing a full set of Aztec gear and an Amulet of Cool which provides a much better armour rating than the Islander set. I wore an Amulet of Damage in my other slot as he takes quite a beating.

- In addition to the Aztec armour, I also found that movement speed was crucial, so wearing a Kabuki Mask which grants you an additional 15% run speed as well as the 15% from the Aztec Boots is a great benefit. Pair this with the occasional use of Sprint and you'll be able to dodge just about everything.

- I strongly recommend the Steel Mace as it has the highest melee damage available up to this point. A lot of the damage dealt to this boss will be done by hitting him once and retreating.

- I also strongly recommend a bow (the stronger the better) for sniping him while he tries to heal. As soon as you see him stop he will either fire a shot from his gun, in which case you should move directly to either side of him, or pull out a potion and drink. It's important that you damage him before he finishes this move as he can heal a decent chunk of health if left uninterrupted. It may be worth mentioning that grenades are useless here due to the entire battle taking place in a pool of water.

- You're just about guaranteed to take some heavy hits during this fight so having plenty of HP/Stamina regeneration food is critical. I went in with about 30 Fruit Cake and 15 Baklava and only had a handful left. You'll be spending a LOT of time running around healing.

Strategy:

- Before even starting the boss fight you will want to clear the surrounding area of the arena. Extra enemies can and will attack you during this fight; this is the LAST thing you want.

- Once you've waited for nightfall and entered the arena you want to start moving and not stop unless you are attacking. The cannons are extremely unforgiving and they will grind down your HP bar incredibly fast if you stay in one spot for too long. As mentioned above, a good bow can be used to attack the boss when he stops to heal, but also when he stops to shoot you. When he does this, take a few steps to either side and fire back. If done quickly enough, you'll land a hit and be able to run away without taking any damage. Pair this with the critical damage skill for an extra edge.

- When you're health is over 75-80%, you want to run in and deal some melee damage. I found using Block to be both a benefit and hindrance as it greatly reduces damage taken but also takes a second to activate, meaning more hits land on you. The main thing to do is hit him first with a critical, than carry on with Berserk for as long as possible until your health is below 40-50%. Now you want to carry on running and healing until you're recovered to the 75-80% mark again. This is where your movement speed is important and having the 30% increase from the gear and combining that with Sprint can give you the valuable distance you need to heal, as well as get in and out quickly to deal some damage.

- This may not be the most achievable or ethical tactic to use depending on your progress so far, but I must admit that saving a skill point for your Health skill after hitting level 13 can honestly be what wins you the battle. Most of you will have realised by now that levelling up and/or spending a point in Health or Stamina will fully restore that bar. When both you and the boss are inches away from death, a quick and easy point in your health skill may well turn the tide of battle in your favour.

I'm far from an expert gamer but this boss will likely take a few attempts to beat. Get a feel for the fight first and learn the cannon mechanics before taking a serious shot at beating him!

I am one of the worst players when it comes to moving and fighting at the same time, so i struggled with this one quite bad, but i managed doing it like so:

Gear:
Aztec shirt and pants
Shell Beads necklace
Carnaval Mask
Islander boots
Refreshing Gloves
Sarfu's Necklace
Steel Bow with 30 Iron Arrows
33 degrees max, fight during night.

Food:
Fruitcake and Baklava.

At 19:00 at night I went in and basicly all I did was running circles around the boss, shooting him with my arrow on 2 occasions: If he missed me with pistol shot, and when he decided to reach in his pocket for a drink. This prevented him from healing.
Besides that i kept running while keeping the boss in my view and eating my Fruitcake on cooldown. I ate 13 fruitcakes during the fight before the boss was down and i finished before morning came so i could get out before the heat came back. and I never had to use Baklava at all.

So just bow and arrow, no melee and no skills.

Goodluck!

For anyone still struggling on this fight I found that hiding behind any of the turret will let you take alot less damage. Using astec gear and head gear for 1 heat protecting with amulet 4 more heat protection. I did this fight in the day, hide behind a turret and dps the boss down using all my skill at cooldown. Only used some boiled potato as that's all I had on me at the time and won the fight with about 15 hp left. I strongly suggest the steel mace also for boss or you might not dps fast enough. (was level 12)

This helped. I ended up beating the boss by attacking at night(I was already doing this), and maxing out my attack speed and damage through pina coladas, berserker, and critical damage. I then hit him with the steel mace so fast and so hard that he couldn't respond. I still had to back off and take some healing, before moving in and finishing him off. I ended up with 20 health left, but he was dead.

Update: There is no way to level past 14 to beat this boss. It would take forever to get enough xp by respawning PI constantly with the bed. What a shame. I can only hope they tweak this boss a bit. Otherwise, I guess I'm done with it.

Was such a great game up until this boss. Luckily, I don't mind grinding a bit. Will just level past 14 and try again but it's making me not like the game. The mechanics of that fight are so bad.

Too many towers and they fire too quickly. Boss heals way too often.

@Paulina777 - This game is not early access. It is a finished game. It is also very "grindy" and you have to think ahead of how and what to create without wasting your efforts. Part of the strategy. Hint - DO NOT convert all your Iron to Steel. Just don't. Only make what you require. Non-renewable resources (Copper, Iron) should only be used to build / make what you need. You can grind scrap, but it takes forever. The initial nodes you find in the world are finite for now.

7 Days to Die is an excellent game, and also just as grindy. Difference is 7DTD does it less painfully with more abundant resources and node re-spawn.

This boss made me swear a lot. I Fought him just like you said, but entirely using Steel Bow. Snipe 1 time, run away. Make sure you shoot him as he tries to heal. Keep moving. I also used two different food recovery sources to enhance the cool down limitation. Took me 4 tries. Fight at night, fight with full Aztec Armor, steel bow, steel arrows. Make sure you spam the critical shot before shooting as it does more damage.

I was level 14 when I beat him. Very Challenging. Especially with out being able to use WASD control scheme.

I found using the dart gun to hit him as he's trying to heal to be of great effect. Running around with as much movespeed as possible and a metric crap ton of meat pies worked to keep me alive. If he failed his shot badly enough i was also able to land a shot on him then. To me, this fight became all about testing your mobility and kiting, and not at all about your durability.
