BetterSalvageShares

Omschrijving
Preface:

NOTE: This mod does not work with Story or the Sidequest High-Value missions. They appear to use pre-defined contract terms rather than the template used for procedural contracts, and it would be a huge pain for little profit (since those missions you usually get good loot from already) to edit each of those individually-defined contract scenario files. See the stickied comment I made on the NexusMods page for details: https://www.nexusmods.com/mechwarrior5mercenaries/mods/335?tab=posts&BH=1

NOTE: This should not conflict with most other negotiation point and salvage share mods, since they only change the max number of negotiation points available and the max number of salvage "slots" available and don't touch the number of salvage shares gained per negotiation point.

Because this comes up constantly in the comments section for this mod, and every time I've checked/verified it myself or had a friend do so it appears to be working fine...
If it appears to not be working, ask yourself these questions:
- Did I remember to close and re-launch the game after activating this mod via the in-game mod menu?
- Did I remember to travel to a new planet first after activating this mod? (contract specifics and their negotiation values are only generated upon arrival at a planet)
- Did I remember that this mod specifically only works for randomly-generated missions? (not campaign missions, DLC questline missions, or missions with are tied to base-game side quests - basically if a mission/contract has a symbol coloured anything other than white, it is not randomly-generated)

---

On NexusMods: https://www.nexusmods.com/mechwarrior5mercenaries/mods/335

More salvage shares (5) per negotiation point spent. Means you don't have to dump all your negotiation points into salvage before even knowing what mechs you're going to encounter in order to salvage a nice mech.

---

This mod changes the salvage share "step" value from 3 to 5.

Every contract starts with a base of 5 salvage shares, and every negotiation point you put into salvage gives you another 5 salvage shares. So whereas in vanilla you'd need to spend 9 negotiation points to get 30 salvage shares (3 + (9 * 3)), now you only need to spend 5 negotiation points for the same effect (5 + (5 * 5))!

There's a version that does 4 instead of 5 on the linked Nexus page, but I did not make a version for 10. You're welcome to examine this mod using the mod creation kit for MW5 (available on EGS I believe) and make a version that does 10 instead if you like.

there a way to change it from 5 to 10?

I can confirm this still works with the most recent patch

Yes, it should be totally safe to add mid-save AFAIK - unless something in the game itself blocks you from loading a save with a different set of mods enabled than the save was made with.

The new salvage share calculation for negotiation points won't take effect until you jump to a new planet though (that's when contract details get re-generated).

can this be added in mid save?

This mod should work for all the randomly-generated missions (not story-related or sidequests or DLC questlines - basically all the missions that show up with normal white icons), they haven't changed the base negotiation system. If it's not working for the new Arena missions (assuming they're randomly-generated and not part of a storyline/questline), it probably means that they use the same handcrafted "scenario" files which override the basic negotiation system.

The mod should be compatible with all DLCs, it just does not modify negotiations for the DLC questline/storyline missions or other missions which use handcrafted "scenario" files.

I hope there will be an update for the mod

@Menghis Khan Will you be updating this mod to be DLC 6 compatible?
Menghis Khan  [auteur] 11 nov 2023 om 21:30
Weird, but glad you managed to fix it with a re-sub and restart. I wonder if it just never installed correctly, or something about loading and finishing that DLC campaign put the mission generator into a weird state.

OK, had to unsub, launch, save, exit, resub, launch, and then leave the system and come back and it is working. All is well, please disregard last post.
