1 - Very low FPS , only 3 or 4 FPS on high end PC
All other NBA2K games work perfectly on my high end system, including NBA2K13
I dont know the reason why, but the problem is that NBA2K14 doesnt like exFat filesystem. Anyway, on a NTFS drive, it works now perfectly.
2 - Low FPS / freezes issues on high end PC
Another isssue i had was that the game ran under 60 fps if my network adapter was activated.
A temporary solution is to disable your network adapter.
But the definitive fix is to fake the game by adding 2K shutted down servers on the local loopback.
open notepad as Administrator
open C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
add
save
launch the game

June 2024, I got it working on Steam Deck using a combination of this guide and reddit. Exact steps I used was this:

1. Open desktop mode
2. Open Dolphin (the blue file folder icon on your taskbar)
3. Under devices, click "roofts"
4. in "roofts," select the folder "etc"
5. in "etc" search for the file "hosts"

6. double click on "hosts" and it should open up a program called Kate with four lines already filled in

7. at the very bottom add this exact line:

127.0.0.1 nba2k14.pc.2ksports.com ns.take2games.com

8. Save
9. Enjoy 2k14 at a working frame rate

This should work on Steam Deck too right? Just add
127.0.0.1 nba2k14.pc.2ksports.com ns.take2games.com
to /etc/hosts
